An isostructural series of NbO-type porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with different dialkoxy-substituents of formula Cu2(TPTC-OR) (TPTC-OR = ...2′,5′-di{alkyl}oxy-1,1′:4′,1″-terphenyl-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylate, R = Me, Et, n Pr, n Hex) has been synthesized and characterized. The moisture stability of the materials has been evaluated, and a new superhydrophobic porous MOF has been identified. The relationship between pendant side chain length and thermal stability has been analyzed by in situ synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction, showing decreased thermal stability as the side chain length is increased, contradictory to thermogravimetric decomposition studies. Additionally, the four materials exhibit moderate Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and Langmuir surface areas (1127–1396 m2 g–1 and 1414–1658 m2 g–1) and H2 capacity up to 1.9 wt % at 77 K and 1 bar.
Metal-organic frameworks have received much attention in recent years especially as newly developed porous materials. As such, they possess a wide array of potential applications including materials ...for gas storage, gas/vapor separation, catalysis, luminescence, and drug delivery. In the review, these potential applications of metal-organic frameworks are examined and an outlook will be proposed.
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are very important in the development of new technologies and study of gas storage and separation. MOFs are based on the complexation of metal clusters with organic ...ligands. Occasionally, the same building components combine in multiple different ways to produce different structures. These different structures are what we would call “framework isomers.” This type of isomerism is unique to the field of MOFs. In this Perspective, we classify the different types of framework isomers and provide examples of each type. Additionally, we provide an analysis of the structure/property relationship. In addition, possible methods for future control over the synthesis of a particular framework isomer and characterization techniques have also been discussed.
The plant hormones brassinosteroids (BRs) participate in light-mediated regulation of plant growth, although the underlying mechanisms are far from being fully understood. In addition, the function ...of the core transcription factor in the BR signaling pathway, BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESSOR 1 (BES1), largely depends on its phosphorylation status and its protein stability, but the regulation of BES1 is not well understood. Here, we report that SINA of Arabidopsis thaliana (SINATs) specifically interact with dephosphorylated BES1 and mediate its ubiquitination and degradation. Our genetic data demonstrated that SINATs inhibit BR signaling in a BES1-dependent manner. Interestingly, we found that the protein levels of SINATs were decreased in the dark and increased in the light, which changed BES1 protein levels accordingly. Thus, our study not only uncovered a new mechanism of BES1 degradation but also provides significant insights into how light conditionally regulates plant growth through controlling accumulation of different forms of BES1.

The function of BES1 largely depends on its phosphorylation status and protein stability. Yang et al. show that SINAT E3 ligases specifically mediate degradation of dephosphorylated BES1, and light can stabilize SINAT proteins to regulate BES1 level. Therefore, the SINATs-BES1 module links light and BR signaling to regulate plant development.
Vehicle 3D extents and trajectories are critical cues for predicting the future location of vehicles and planning future agent ego-motion based on those predictions. In this paper, we propose a novel ...online framework for 3D vehicle detection and tracking from monocular videos. The framework can not only associate detections of vehicles in motion over time, but also estimate their complete 3D bounding box information from a sequence of 2D images captured on a moving platform. Our method leverages 3D box depth-ordering matching for robust instance association and utilizes 3D trajectory prediction for re-identification of occluded vehicles. We also design a motion learning module based on an LSTM for more accurate long-term motion extrapolation. Our experiments on simulation, KITTI, and Argoverse datasets show that our 3D tracking pipeline offers robust data association and tracking. On Argoverse, our image-based method is significantly better for tracking 3D vehicles within 30 meters than the LiDAR-centric baseline methods.
We report that Ga-doped and Ga–In-codoped n-type PbS samples show excellent thermoelectric performance in the intermediate temperature range. First-principles electronic structure calculations reveal ...that Ga doping can cause Fermi level pinning in PbS by introducing a gap state between the conduction and valence bands. Furthermore, Ga–In codoping introduces an extra conduction band. These added electronic features lead to high electron mobilities up to μH ∼ 630 cm2 V–1 s–1 for n of 1.67 × 1019 cm–3 and significantly enhanced Seebeck coefficients in PbS. Consequently, we obtained a maximum power factor of ∼32 μW cm–1 K–2 at 300 K for Pb0.9875Ga0.0125S, which is the highest reported for PbS-based systems giving a room-temperature figure of merit, ZT, of ∼0.35 and ∼0.82 at 923 K. For the codoped Pb0.9865Ga0.0125In0.001S, the maximum ZT rises to ∼1.0 at 923 K and achieves a record-high average ZT (ZTavg) of ∼0.74 in the temperature range of 400–923 K.
Picky cage: A dicopper(II)‐paddle‐wheel‐based metal–organic framework (PCN‐80, see picture) with a rare (3,3,4)‐connected topology has been synthesized by using a unique octatopic ligand featuring ...90° bridging‐angle dicarboxylate moieties. PCN‐80 has Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET) and Langmuir surface areas of 3850 and 4150 m2 g−1, respectively. It exhibits high gas‐uptake capacity for H2 and large adsorption selectivity of CO2 over N2.
A dynamic scene has two types of elements: those that move fluidly and can be predicted from previous frames, and those which are disoccluded (exposed) and cannot be extrapolated. Prior approaches to ...video prediction typically learn either to warp or to hallucinate future pixels, but not both. In this paper, we describe a computational model for high-fidelity video prediction which disentangles motion-specific propagation from motion-agnostic generation. We introduce a confidence-aware warping operator which gates the output of pixel predictions from a flow predictor for non-occluded regions and from a context encoder for occluded regions. Moreover, in contrast to prior works where confidence is jointly learned with flow and appearance using a single network, we compute confidence after a warping step, and employ a separate network to inpaint exposed regions. Empirical results on both synthetic and real datasets show that our disentangling approach provides better occlusion maps and produces both sharper and more realistic predictions compared to strong baselines.
