Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressively neurodegenerative disease, resulting in gradual cognitive deficits and memory impairment. There are some critical features in ...the brain of AD patients, such as neuronal loss, extracellular β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition, intracellular neurofibrillary tangles, as well as severe inflammation. Intracellular Aβ accumulation would induce oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, which have been reported were the important mechanisms for neuronal degeneration. CDGSH Iron Sulfur Domain 2 (Cisd2) is the important gene for maintaining mitochondrial integrity and functions. Cisd2 deficiency leads to mitochondrial breakdown and loss-of-function, and subsequently other premature aging phenotypes in mice. On the contrary, a persistent level of Cisd2 in whole life prolongs health-span and lifespan, due to effectively ameliorate the aged defects on muscles, neurons and other organs. However, the effects of Cisd2 levels on the brain functions, even the p

Duo to recent policy changes on modern warfare categorization, command-duty equality and diversify-cored discipline were implemented in Taiwan defense system. Since 1997 thru ...2014, constructing an arm force with less quantity, more qualification and competitiveness were trend for modern forces. Rise of withdraw personnel was determined while the MOD actively committed on recruitment. This paper consists of literature review, data collection and inducement based on motivation theory. A SPSS method is utilize to construct a research framework. This paper discusses three main topics of motivation system, work stress, and withdrawal behavior. Six factors study include motivation system, insurance-benefit factor, work stress, internal stress, external stress, and withdrawal traits are conducted from data analyzed. Those factors were discussed particularly on task support troops of ROC Army and analytical results will be utilized to improve retaining rate of military forces in the future.

We grow the different Gallium ratio of In1-xGaxP to be the Schottky enhanced layer of InP/InGaAs Metal-Semiconductor-Metal photodetector (MSM-PD). From our experiment results, we ...discuss the metal-semiconductor junction condition in MSM-PD by using the different Gallium ratio of In1-xGaxP. However in theoretical calculation, the larger Gallium ratio of In1-xGaxP is, the higher Schottky barrier MSM-PD owns. But from our experiment, the larger Gallium ratio forms the bigger leakage current. There are some principles used to decrease the dark current of our MSM-PD.
Finally, we also form a MSM-PD by using a structure that can be treated to form a p-i-n PD. We design a new photodetector-PIM-PD and discuss the mesa finger design that can enhance the responsivity of MSM-PD. Our experiment results show that the PIM-PD owns the both properties of a p-i-n-PD and a MSM-PD.
Since the late twentieth century, with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the IoT covers the application of comprehensive knowledge and technology in the fields of circuitry, physics, ...mechanics, and information, making it a suitable topic for hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities. The IoT covers a large amount of knowledge, practical skills, and programming skills in STEM fields, both teaching and learning the content can be difficult. Thus, this study used gamification with the 6E model and the software development method as the teaching strategies to explore their effects on high school students’ computer programming self-efficacy, IoT knowledge, and hands-on performance in IoT learning activities. In this study, a quasi-experimental design was used for 12 weeks, and the 132 students who participated in the experiment were divided into Experimental Group 1 (EG1, 66 students using gamification with the 6E model), Experimental Group 2 (EG2, 31 students using the 6E model only), and the Control Group (CG, 35 students using the software development method). Through Analysis of Covariance, the results showed that the students in EG 1 achieved higher academic performance in terms of computer programming self-efficacy, IoT knowledge, and hands-on skills. The results of the lag sequence analysis of behavioral patterns showed that all the students required frequent two-way communication with the teachers and needed to communicate with their group members. The students in EG 1 exhibited positive interactions and took the initiative in asking for help from other students, which indicated that the students in this group achieved better learning outcomes. In addition, those interested in exploring STEM hands-on activities would benefit from our findings.
This study aimed to discover the implications of using different teaching approaches for a hands-on STEAM activity for junior high school students’ STEAM knowledge, creativity, and hands-on ...performance. The teaching contents used in the study were designed based on the project-based learning (PBL) strategy and the cognitive–affective interaction model (CAIM). The students’ learning outcomes were tested through a hands-on activity with the theme of electric boat creation. PBL with the CAIM was the strategy used to implement the hands-on STEAM activity and to achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). In this study, a quasi-experimental design was used for 10 weeks, and the 366 students who participated in the experiment were divided into experimental groups (EGs, 199 students using PBL with the CAIM) and control groups (CGs, 167 students using PBL only). Through the analysis of covariance, the results showed that students in the EGs achieved higher academic performance in terms of STEAM knowledge, creativity, and hands-on performance. The study also found that the hands-on STEAM activity had a positive effect on creativity for students in the EGs, allowing them to develop different modes of thinking in the processes of designing and producing the finished product, which in turn enhanced the innovativeness of their products and solutions. In addition, using PBL with the CAIM in the hands-on STEAM activity brought about positive learning outcomes and creative abilities for the students, achieving the SDG 4 objectives. Moreover, the outcomes of this study are in line with the current international trend in the development of education, providing reference examples for the future development of STEAM activities and teaching materials at the junior high school level.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common neuropsychiatric disorder in schoolchildren. ADHD diagnoses are generally made based on criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical ...Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. The diagnosis is made clinically based on observation and information provided by parents and teachers, which is highly subjective and can lead to disparate results. Considering that hyperactivity is one of the main symptoms of ADHD, the inaccuracy of ADHD diagnosis based on subjective criteria necessitates the identification of a method to objectively diagnose ADHD.
In this study, a medical chair containing a piezoelectric material was applied to objectively analyze movements of patients with ADHD, which were compared with those of patients without ADHD. This study enrolled 62 patients—31 patients with ADHD and 31 patients without ADHD. During the clinical evaluation, participants’ movements were recorded by the piezoelectric material for analysis. The variance, zero-crossing rate, and high energy rate of movements were subsequently analyzed.
The results revealed that the variance, zero-crossing rate, and high energy rate were significantly higher in patients with ADHD than in those without ADHD. Classification performance was excellent in both groups, with the area under the curve as high as 98.00%.
Our findings suggest that the use of a smart chair equipped with piezoelectric material is an objective and potentially useful method for supporting the diagnosis of ADHD.
The researcher discussed the SSH dictionary attack defense system in the multi platform environments through the analyzing log. The study introduced the current formats and threats of the SSH ...dictionary attack. Then, the research explained the types of the SSH dictionary attack defense system, and compared the functions and differences between the traditional and current detection systems. Moreover, the study based on the research of Y.N. Su and Y. H. Chen (2010), the SSH dictionary attack defense system, and advanced the detection functions in the multi platforms. According to those literatures, the study developed the SSH dictionary attack and detection system in the multi platforms environments using analyzing log . The contributions of the study were to provide an easy way for detection, and to get the list of the SSH dictionary attack sources by typing into the defection system in order to achieve the purpose of the SSH dictionary attack system in the multi platform defection environments.
