With the continuous growth of the tertiary industry and residential loads, balancing the power supply and consumption during peak demand time has become a critical issue. Some studies try to ...alleviate peak load by increasing power generation on the supply side. Due to the short duration of peak load, this may cause redundant installation capacity. Alternatively, others attempt to shave peak demand by installing energy storage facilities. However, the aforementioned research did not consider interruptible load regulation when optimizing system operations. In fact, regulating interruptible load has great potential for reducing system peak load. In this paper, an interruptible load scheduling model considering the user subsidy rate is first proposed to reduce system peak load and operational costs. This model has fully addressed the constraints of minimum daily load reduction and user interruption load time. After that, by taking a community in Shanghai as an example, the improved chicken swarm optimization algorithm is applied to solve the interruptible load scheduling scheme. Finally, the simulation results validate the efficacy of the proposed optimization algorithm and indicate the significant advantages of the proposed model in alleviating the peak load and reducing operational costs.
A compact frequency-stabilized laser system at 589 nm is demonstrated for sodium laser guide star and sodium lidar. The 589 nm laser based on all-fiber devices was generated by the sum frequency ...generation (SFG) of the distributed-feedback laser diodes (DFB-LD) seed lasers of 1064 nm and 1319 nm. The absolute frequency was locked to the D
2a
line by adopting the method of saturated absorption. The frequency drift of 589 nm can reach to 1.8 MHz (RMS) over 5000 s. The proposed DFB-LD based frequency stabilization scheme of 589 nm laser is a promising solution for applications that require extremely mobile or miniaturized systems.
Abstract
Thymoma is the most common tumor of the anterior mediastinum. Routine imaging methods such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging often lead to misdiagnosis between thymoma and ...other thymic abnormalities. Therefore, urgently needed is to develop a new diagnostic strategy. Here we identify interleukin-8 (IL-8) as a biomarker for auxiliary diagnosis of thymoma. We find that IL-8 levels in naïve T cells are markedly elevated in patients with thymoma compared to those with other thymic tumors. IL-8 levels in naive T cells are significantly decreased after surgical resection in thymoma patients, and rise again when thymoma recurs. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis shows that IL-8 evaluation performs well in thymoma identification, with high specificities and sensitivities. We also observe significant clinical relevance between IL-8 levels in naïve T cells and clinicopathological features. In conclusion, our study suggests that IL-8 is a biomarker for thymoma identification and recurrence surveillance.
Surgery remains cornerstone for the management of thymoma. Complete surgical resection (R0), is recognized as the constant and significant factor for prognosis. However, in locally advanced ...(Masaoka-Koga stages III-IVa) thymomas, achieving R0 resection remains challenging due to local-regional invasion of the disease. Induction treatment, with the aim of reducing bulky tumor mass, offers new strategy to facilitate totally surgical resection. Herein, we reviewed recent progress and provided a comprehensive overview of induction strategy in locally advance thymoma.
Epithelial neutrophil-activating peptide-78 (CXCL5), a member of the subgroup of CXC-type chemokine family, is an inflammatory factor involved in the progression of lung cancer, but the underlying ...mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects of CXCL5 on proliferation and migration in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using tissue microarrays from NSCLC patients and H460 cells transfected with a CXCL5-interfered lentivirus vector or stimulated with recombinant CXCL5. We observed that the expression of CXCL5 was significantly higher in lung cancer cell lines, and high CXCL5 was associated with high chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 expression and was significantly associated with poor differentiation. The high expression of CXCL5 was associated with poor NSCLC prognosis and was an independent predictive factor. Furthermore, downregulation of CXCL5 in H460 cells significantly reduced proliferation and migration. Recombinant CXCL5 promoted H460 cell proliferation and movement by activating MAPK/ERK1/2 and PI3K/AKT signaling. Our study elucidates the important role of CXCL5 in the progression and prognosis of NSCLC. These findings suggested that CXCL5 might be a potential biomarker and novel therapeutic target for lung cancer.
The treatment of unresectable thymic epithelial tumours (TETs) remains controversial. Here, we present the efficacy and safety of induction therapy followed by surgery for unresectable TET.
...Eighty-one patients with unresectable TETs treated with induction therapy followed by surgery were selected from a retrospective review of consecutive TETs from January 2005 to January 2021. Clinicopathological data were analyzed to assess tumour responses, resectability, adverse events, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Induction therapy produced a major tumour response rate of 69.1%, a tumour response grade (TRG) 1-3 rate of 84.0% and an R0 resection rate of 74.1%. The most common toxic effects were all-grade neutropenia (35.8%) and anaemia (34.6%). The 10-year OS and PFS rates were 45.7% and 35.2%. Multivariate analysis showed that ypTNM stage, ypMasaoka stage, complete resection, and TRG were significant independent prognostic factors. Exploratory research revealed that different induction modalities and downstaging of T, N, M, TNM, or Masaoka classifications did not significantly alter the pooled hazard ratio for survival.
Induction therapy followed by surgery is well tolerated in patients with unresectable TETs, with encouraging R0 resection rates. Multimodality management provides good control of tumors for unresectable TET patients.
Unilateral Video-Assisted Thorascopic Surgery (VATS) is a traditional minimally invasive transthoracic approach for the surgical resection of a subxiphoid goiter. Recently, the subxiphoid approach ...was recommended for an anterior mediastinal mass. This study aims to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of a modified subxiphoid VATS for the resection of a retrosternal goiter as an alternative transthoracic approach.
We retrospectively collected all patients who underwent subxiphoid VATS for the resection of a retrosternal goiter from June 2017 to June 2021 in the Zhongshan Hospital or the Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen branch. Ten patients were found. Patient characteristics, perioperative data, and surgical information were collected and further analyzed.
In our study, all 10 patients underwent a thoracoscopic subxiphoid resection of a retrosternal goiter. The mean age was 49.4 years, and all were female. The majority of patients (70%) were asymptomatic. All patients were assessed by CT imaging before surgery. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 4.9 days. The drainage tube was removed 3 days after operation, and the average drainage volume was 73.1 ml. Postoperative pain was mild, with an average pain grade of 2.4 (measured on a scale from 0 to 10, with lower scores indicating less pain). There were no conversions or perioperative complications in these 10 patients.
Most retrosternal goiters can be completely resected through the modified subxiphoid approach after an adequate preoperative evaluation and careful intraoperative management. This thoracoscopic subxiphoid approach is feasible and safe for retrosternal goiter resection.
Background
Solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura is a rare soft-tissue tumor. In search of appropriate diagnosis and treatment methods, we present our experience with 13 patients.
Methods
The medical ...charts of 13 patients treated during the last 5 years were reviewed, as well as pathological records, including immunohistochemical stains. Follow-up data were obtained. In addition, a literature review with regard to treatment and clinical outcome was performed.
Results
Our series consisted of four men and nine women with a mean age of 47 years. Two were diagnosed before operation with ultrasonography-guided core needle biopsy. All patients underwent primary surgical treatment, and four of them were resected by video-assisted thoracic surgery. Seven tumors were malignant and the other six were benign. Immunohistochemical staining showed nestin was positive in three malignant solitary fibrous tumors of pleura (3/7), which were negative for CD34. Except for one, all patients were followed-up for 3 to 35 (mean, 14.5) months. Among them, one patient experienced a recurrence and one patient died of brain metastasis.
Conclusion
Ultrasonography-guided core needle biopsy combined with immunohistochemical analysis might be a safe and rapid method to provide a confirmatory diagnosis before resection. For smaller, pedunculated tumors, video-assisted thoracic surgery could be a powerful and useful approach. We speculate that CD34-negative and nestin-positive might be a malignant marker for solitary fibrous tumor of pleura.
The loss of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) has previously been demonstrated to be implicated in the initiation and progression of various tumors. However, its role in non-small cell lung cancer ...(NSCLC) remains unknown. The present study aimed to determine the level of 5-hmC in NSCLC and their adjacent normal lung tissues by immunohistochemistry and dot-blot analysis; then the relationship between 5-hmC level and the clinicopathological features of NSCLC and the prognostic significance of 5-hmC level in NSCLC patients were analyzed. By employing the dot-blot analysis, a significant reduction of 5-hmC level in NSCLC tissues compared with the adjacent normal tissues was detected, which were further verified by the immunohistochemistry results on tissue microarrays. Further analyses demonstrated that 65.38% (136/208) presented with low 5-hmC level, and low 5-hmC level was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis (P<0.001), histological type (P<0.001) and large tumor size (P=0.031). Notably, the 5-year overall survival rate of patients with low 5-hmC levels were significantly lower than patients with high 5-hmC levels (P<0.001). In addition, it was demonstrated that 5-hmC level was identified as independent prognostic factor in patients' overall survival. In conclusion, downregulation of 5-hmC may serve as a useful biomarker for NSCLC prognosis evaluation.
•A multi-agent electricity-heat-hydrogen P2P trading optimization model is proposed.•Hydrogen is involved in P2P transactions and used for natural gas blending.•The multi-energy trading power and ...trading price are obtained based on Nash bargaining.•The bargaining cooperative interaction can benefit each agent simultaneously.
The P2P transaction mode has significant potential in improving energy utilization, increasing economic efficiency, and promoting low carbon operation of the system. With the development of integrated energy system, the coupling between multi-energy systems is continuously strengthened, and the study of multi-energy P2P transactions is of great significance. Considering the characteristic that natural gas can blend with hydrogen, this paper proposes a multi-agent electricity-heat-hydrogen trading model by taking hydrogen produced on the load side as a P2P transaction object. Based on Nash bargaining theory, the multi-energy transactions model is equivalent to a cooperative game model. Then, the Nash bargaining model is transformed into two continuous subproblems of minimizing operating cost and maximizing transaction payment. The optimal cost of each agent operating independently is used as the negotiation rupture point, and the alternating direction multiplier method is used for sequential solution to obtain the multi-energy trading power and trading price, respectively. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by using the distribution network IEEE 33-bus and natural gas 11 node systems. The results show that the revenue of subject 1 is increased by 11.9%, and the operating costs of the other subjects are reduced by 3.4%, 2.7% and 3.1%, respectively. The overall carbon tax cost of the system is reduced by 1 196.59 CNY, which can effectively reduce the carbon emission of the system.
