We report the first observation of a_{0}^{0}(980)-f_{0}(980) mixing in the decays of J/ψ→ϕf_{0}(980)→ϕa_{0}^{0}(980)→ϕηπ^{0} and χ_{c1}→a_{0}^{0}(980)π^{0}→f_{0}(980)π^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}, using data ...samples of 1.31×10^{9} J/ψ events and 4.48×10^{8} ψ(3686) events accumulated with the BESIII detector. The signals of f_{0}(980)→a_{0}^{0}(980) and a_{0}^{0}(980)→f_{0}(980) mixing are observed at levels of statistical significance of 7.4σ and 5.5σ, respectively. The corresponding branching fractions and mixing intensities are measured and the constraint regions on the coupling constants, g_{a_{0}K^{+}K^{-}} and g_{f_{0}K^{+}K^{-}}, are estimated. The results improve the understanding of the nature of a_{0}^{0}(980) and f_{0}(980).
Whitmania pigra is the most widely distributed species of leeches in the market. In this study, the effect of heavy metal lead pollution on the anticoagulant activity of Wh. pigra was studied and the ...potential mechanism was explored. Pb(NO_3)_2 was used to contaminate the breeding soil which was then used to rear Wh. pigra for 50 days(lead-contaminated group, LC group), and meanwhile the blank control group(CG group) was set. Proteins were extracted from the obtained leech samples, and the differentially expressed proteins between LC and CG groups were analyzed by label-free proteomics technology. In this study, a total of 152 differentially expressed proteins were screened out, of which 93 proteins were up-regulated and 59 proteins were down-regulated in LC group. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the biological processes enriched with the differentially expressed proteins were mainly vesicle-mediated transport and transport positive regulation; the enriched cell components were mainly endocytosis vesicles
Hypoxia is a parameter related to many diseases. Ratiometric hypoxia probes often rely on a combination of an O2‐insensitive fluorophore and an O2‐sensitive phosphor in a polymer matrix, which ...require high cost and multi‐step synthesis of transition metal complexes. The two‐chromophore hypoxia probes encounter unfavorable energy transfer processes and different stabilities of the chromophores. Reported herein is a pure organic ratiometric hypoxia nanoprobe, assembled by a monochromophore, naphthalimide ureidopyrimidinone (BrNpA‐UPy), bridged by a bis‐UPy‐functionalized benzyl skeleton. The joint factors of quadruple hydrogen bonding, the rigid backbone of UPy, and bromine substitution of the naphthalimide derivative facilitate bright phosphorescence (ΦP=7.7 %, τP=3.2 ms) and fluorescence of the resultant nanoparticles (SNPs) at room temperature, which enable accurate, ratiometric, sensitive oxygen detection (Ksv=189.6 kPa−1) in aqueous solution as well as in living HeLa cells.
An organic hypoxia nanoprobe assembled by quadruple hydrogen bonds, shows efficient long‐lived phosphorescence (ΦP=7.7 %, τP=3.2 ms) and fluorescence from a monochromophore at room temperature and can be used for oxygen detection in water and living cells. This is the first example of ratiometric hypoxia sensing by supramolecular assemblies of an organic monochromophore.
The performance of activated carbons coated with polyaniline (PANI-C) by polymerization of aniline using cyclic voltammetry was investigated as an electrode for supercapacitors by scanning electron ...microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and constant current charge/discharge measurement. Results showed that a PANI thin film was uniformly deposited on the surface of the activated carbon, forming an interlinked porous network. The PANI-C composite electrodes had better cycling stability than PANI electrodes and the specific capacitance of the composite electrodes was 587 F/g, which was much higher than that of the pristine activated carbon (140 F/g), owing to the faradic reaction of PANI with the electrolyte. The PANI electrode was less stable than the PANI-C composite electrode with a capacitance decay from 513 to 334 F/g for the former and 415 to 385 for the latter, after 50 cycles.
The decay J/ψ → γγΦ is studied using a sample of 1.31×109 J/ events collected with the BESIII detector. Two structures around 1475 MeV/c2 and 1835 MeV/c2 are observed in the invariant mass spectrum ...for the first time. With a fit on the γΦ invariant mass, which takes into account the interference between the two structures, and a simple analysis of the angular distribution, the structure around 1475 MeV/c2 is found to favor an assignment as the (1475) and the mass and width for the structure around 1835 MeV/c2 are consistent with the X(1835). The statistical significances of the two structures are 13.5σ and 6.3σ, respectively. The results indicate that both (1475) and X(1835) contain a sizeable s¯s component.

Nor did it replicate in a GWAS from a similar high-risk population (National Cancer Institute) or in a GWAS from a low-risk population (Beijing). ...the original finding was likely the result of ...inadequate control for population stratification using the genetically unmatched subjects or, less likely, could have been due to chance alone.
T cells have major functions in the initiation and perpetuation of nerve graft rejection. Our study aimed to investigate the function of regulatory T cells (Treg)-Th1-Th17-Th22 cells in the rejection ...of peripheral nerve xenotransplantation.
Adult male C57 BL/6 mice were used as the recipient for nerve xenotransplantation, and Sprague-Dawley rats were used as the donor. These nerve xenotransplanted mice were used as the experimental groups, and those that received autograft transplant were chosen as the control group. All of the animals were pretreated with interferon (IFN)-γ, interleukin (IL)-17, and IL-22 before the experiment was conducted. The percentages of spleen Treg-Th1-Th17-Th22 cells were evaluated by flow cytometry 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after transplantation. Serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-17, and IL-22 were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Statistical analysis was performed by Wilcoxon rank sum and Spearman correlation test.
During acute rejection, the percentages of Th1-Th17-Th22 cells in the spleen and serum IFN-γ, IL-17, and IL-22 levels in the experimental group increased compared with those in the control group. By contrast, CD4CD25Foxp3 T cell level decreased. The rejection of xenograft was significantly prevented after the mice were treated with IL-17-neutralizing, IL-22-neutralizing, and IFN-γ-neutralizing antibodies. Moreover, the percentage of CD4CD25Foxp3 Treg was negatively correlated with the percentages of Th1-Th17-Th22 cells and levels of IL-17, IL-22, and IFN-γ.
These results suggested that the Treg-Th1-Th17-Th22 cells involved in xenotransplant rejection and imbalance between Tregs and Th1-Th17-Th22 cells contribute to the acute rejection of peripheral nerve xenotransplant.
The design of artificial metalloenzymes has achieved tremendous progress, although few designs can achieve catalytic performances comparable to that of native enzymes. Moreover, the structure and ...function of artificial metalloenzymes in non-native states has rarely been explored. Herein, we found that a
-type cytochrome
(Cyt
), N57C/S71C Cyt
, with heme covalently attached to the protein matrix through two Cys-heme linkages, adopts a non-native state with an open heme site after guanidine hydrochloride (Gdn
HCl)-induced unfolding, which facilitates H
O
activation and substrate binding. Stopped-flow kinetic studies further revealed that
-type Cyt
in the non-native state exhibited impressive peroxidase activity comparable to that of native peroxidases, such as the most efficient horseradish peroxidase. This study presents an alternative approach to the design of functional artificial metalloenzymes by exploring enzymatic functions in non-native states.
This prospective study sought to compare the acute effects of haloperidol, amisulpride, and quetiapine on serum markers of bone formation and resorption in relatively young patients with minimal ...previous exposure to antipsychotic drugs.
Patients included in the study were randomly assigned to receive haloperidol, amisulpride, or quetiapine monotherapy in an open-label manner. Serum osteocalcin (OC, a marker of bone formation), C-terminal peptide of type I collagen (CTX, a marker of bone resorption), prolactin (PRL), estradiol, and testosterone were measured in 70 patients at baseline and after 4 weeks of antipsychotic treatment.
A repeated-measures analysis of variance revealed a significant difference in CTX levels and in the OC to CTX ratio between treatment groups (F = 4.481, P < 0.05; F = 8.114, P < 0.01). After 4 weeks of treatment, only the amisulpride group had significantly increased CTX levels and decreased OC/CTX. In addition, an obvious increase in PRL level and a reduction of sex hormone secretion after amisulpride treatment were found. No significant changes in bone turnover were observed in the haloperidol or quetiapine groups. Notably, a positive correlation between the CTX change to the change in PRL after treatment (r = 0.255, P < 0.05) was observed.
The PRL-raising antipsychotic drug amisulpride influenced bone turnover balance very early in the course of treatment, which may require long-term monitoring of bone metabolism. Bone resorption marker changes induced by acute antipsychotic drug treatment are likely related to increased PRL levels.
