Cancer-derived exosomes are considered a major driver of cancer-induced pre-metastatic niche formation at foreign sites, but the mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we show that miR-25-3p, a ...metastasis-promoting miRNA of colorectal cancer (CRC), can be transferred from CRC cells to endothelial cells via exosomes. Exosomal miR-25-3p regulates the expression of VEGFR2, ZO-1, occludin and Claudin5 in endothelial cells by targeting KLF2 and KLF4, consequently promotes vascular permeability and angiogenesis. In addition, exosomal miR-25-3p from CRC cells dramatically induces vascular leakiness and enhances CRC metastasis in liver and lung of mice. Moreover, the expression level of miR-25-3p from circulating exosomes is significantly higher in CRC patients with metastasis than those without metastasis. Our work suggests that exosomal miR-25-3p is involved in pre-metastatic niche formation and may be used as a blood-based biomarker for CRC metastasis.
•The workability of SAC admixed with different types of superplasticizer and retarder was studied.•The effects of different combinations of superplasticizer and retarder on the fluidity were quite ...different.•CA and SG had little negative effects on the fluidity of paste admixed with PC.
The effects of three superplasticizers, β-naphthalenelfonic acid-based superplasticizer (BNS), aminosulfonic acid-based superplasticizer (AS) and polycarboxylate acid-based superplasticizer (PC), and two retarders, citric acid (CA) and sodium gluconate (SG), on the fluidity, flow loss and compressive strength of sulphoaluminate cement were studied. The competition adsorption effects between the retarder CA and the superplasticizers of BNS and AS were intensively and lead to low initial fluidity. Besides, there is not any competition effect between SG and superplasticizer of BNS and AS, and the combinations of the two retarders and superplasticizer of PC had better influence on the fluidity and flow loss. Furthermore, superfluous retarders would lead to decrease of compressive strength due to the inactivity of cement particle.

Background
Apatinib, a competitive inhibitor of VEGFR2, has anti-angiogenesis and anticancer activities through different mechanisms, but it still cannot fully explain the drug efficacy of apatinib. ...Ferroptosis, associated with lethal lipid peroxidation, has emerged to play an important role in cancer biology, however, the exact role of ferroptosis in apatinib-mediating anticancer treatment are still not clear.
Methods
The effects of (1S, 3R)-RSL3 and apatinib were evaluated in different GC cell lines and in normal human gastric epithelial cells. Further, the effects of apatinib and inhibition of antioxidant defense enzyme glutathione peroxidase (GPX4) on cell viability, cell death, glutathione (GSH) levels, lipid ROS production, cellular malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and protein expression were evaluated in vitro as well as in a mouse tumor xenograft model. The expression level of GPX4 in GC tissues and paracancerous tissues was measured by immunohistochemistry.
Results
(1S, 3R)-RSL3 selectively killed GC cells, but not normal cells. Apatinib induced ferroptosis in GC cells by decreasing cellular GSH levels and increasing lipid peroxidation levels. This effect was blocked by co-incubation with ferrostatin-1, liproxstatin-1, GSH, or vitamin E. Further investigation revealed that apatinib down-regulated GPX4 expression via inhibition of the transcription factors Sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1a (SREBP-1a). Besides, we found that multi-drug resistant GC cells were vulnerable to apatinib-induced GPX4 inhibition.
Conclusions
In summary, we show that apatinib could induce the lipid peroxidation through GPX4 mediated by SREBP-1a, then negatively regulate the GC cell, even the multi-drug-resistant GC cell, ferroptosis.
Prior research has posited that product attributes are primary drivers of success that a firm must consider to develop a competitive advantage. Two product attributes, originality and usefulness, ...have been identified in the literature as significant dimensions of new product success. Customer demands differ, and more purchase intentions toward a new product depend on how consumers connect the product attributes to their own individual characteristics. Studying motivated consumer innovativeness as a personality trait may improve our understanding of the motivations for adopting innovations; however, questions remain regarding whether the effects of originality and usefulness on consumers' intentions to adopt are different when levels of these attributes are matching or dissimilar and what the relationship is between these effects and motivated consumer innovativeness. This study seeks to empirically investigate these effects and their relations by collecting data from 560 potential consumers in China. This paper uses hierarchical regression analysis to test hypotheses in four product domains as representative of higher or lower levels of usefulness and originality. The research shows that new product originality affects consumers' intentions to adopt new products only if it matches the level of new product usefulness. The results also reveal that motivated consumer innovativeness has a positive moderating role on the relationship between new product originality and consumers' new product adoption intentions when both attributes are at a lower level. The theoretical and practical implications for new product development and marketing communications are discussed.

The safety and efficacy of radical laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LG) with D2 lymphadenectomy for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer (AGC) remain controversial. We conducted a randomized ...controlled trial to compare laparoscopic and conventional open distal gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissections for AGC.
Between September 2012 and December 2014, 1,056 patients with clinical stage T2-4aN0-3M0 gastric cancer were eligible for inclusion. They were randomly assigned to either the LG with D2 lymphadenectomy group (n = 528) or the open gastrectomy (OG) with D2 lymphadenectomy group (n = 528). Fifteen experienced surgeons from 14 institutions in China participated in the study. The morbidity and mortality within 30 days after surgery between the LG (n = 519) and the OG (n = 520) groups were compared on the basis of the modified intention-to-treat principle. Postoperative complications were stratified according to the Clavien-Dindo classification.
The compliance rates of D2 lymphadenectomy were similar between the LG and OG groups (99.4% v 99.6%; P = .845). The postoperative morbidity was 15.2% in the LG group and 12.9% in OG group with no significant difference (difference, 2.3%; 95% CI, -1.9 to 6.6; P = .285). The mortality rate was 0.4% for the LG group and zero for the OG group (difference, 0.4%; 95% CI, -0.4 to 1.4; P = .249). The distribution of severity was similar between the two groups (P = .314).
Experienced surgeons can safely perform LG with D2 lymphadenectomy for AGC.

Analyzing survey data collected from 238 Chinese firms, this study confirms that marketing analytics positively influences a firm’s market agility, leading to increased firm performance. Moreover, inter-departmental coordination and market turbulence are found to strengthen the positive effect of marketing analytics on market agility, while success traps hinder such effect. The findings suggest that firms need to align their marketing analytical activities with their internal practices and external market environment.
The characterization of epigenetic changes during cancer development and progression led to notable insights regarding the roles of cancer-specific epigenetic reprogramming. Recent studies showed ...that transcription factors (TFs) are capable to regulate epigenetic reprogramming at specific loci in different cancer types through their DNA-binding activities. However, the causal association of dynamic histone modification change mediated by TFs is still not well elucidated. Here we evaluated the impacts of 636 transcription factor binding activities on histone modification in 24 cancer types. We performed Instrumental Variables analysis by using genetic lesions of TFs as our instrumental proxies, which previously discovered to be associated with histone mark activities. As a result, we showed a total of 6 EpiTFs as strong directors of epigenetic reprogramming of histone modification in cancers, which alters the molecular and clinical phenotypes of cancer. Together our findings highlight a causal mechanism driven by the TFs and genome-wide histone modification, which is relevant to multiple status of oncogenesis.
Accurate prediction of peritoneal metastasis for gastric cancer (GC) with serosal invasion is crucial in clinic. The presence of collagen in the tumour microenvironment affects the metastasis of ...cancer cells. Herein, we propose a collagen signature, which is composed of multiple collagen features in the tumour microenvironment of the serosa derived from multiphoton imaging, to describe the extent of collagen alterations. We find that a high collagen signature is significantly associated with a high risk of peritoneal metastasis (P < 0.001). A competing-risk nomogram including the collagen signature, tumour size, tumour differentiation status and lymph node metastasis is constructed. The nomogram demonstrates satisfactory discrimination and calibration. Thus, the collagen signature in the tumour microenvironment of the gastric serosa is associated with peritoneal metastasis in GC with serosal invasion, and the nomogram can be conveniently used to individually predict the risk of peritoneal metastasis in GC with serosal invasion after radical surgery.
