Cloud computing is the current trend in online information services, and e-government is no exception. Previous literature on e-government service adoption has focused on traditional web based online services (with the data or software residing on the client and server). However, given the distinguishing characteristics and new business model of cloud computing (data or software in the cloud), more study of cloud based e-government services is warranted. We propose an integrated model which is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2). We conduct an empirical study to understand the critical factors for the adoption of cloud based e-invoicing, a novel e-government service in Taiwan. A total of 251 valid responses to our questionnaire survey were received. The results indicate that effort expectation, social influence, trust in e-government, and perceived risk have significant effects on the intention to adopt e-invoicing. Additionally, trust in e-government and perceived risk mediates the relationship between behavioral intention and security concerns regarding e-government. Gender differences moderate the relationship between social influence and behavioral intention. Age level is found to moderate the relationship between perceived risk and behavioral intention. These findings contribute to academic research and have practical implications, advancing our understanding of cloud based e-government applications.

The use of the Internet by older adults is growing at a substantial rate. They are becoming an increasingly important potential market for electronic commerce. However, previous researchers and practitioners have focused mainly on the youth market and paid less attention to issues related to the online behaviors of older consumers. To bridge the gap, the purpose of this study is to increase a better understanding of the drivers and barriers affecting older consumers’ intention to shop online. To this end, this study is developed by integrating the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and innovation resistance theory. By comparing younger consumers with their older counterparts, in terms of gender the findings indicate that the major factors driving older adults toward online shopping are performance expectation and social influence which is the same with younger. On the other hand, the major barriers include value, risk, and tradition which is different from younger. Consequently, it is notable that older adults show no gender differences in regards to the drivers and barriers.
This study attempts to understand the determinants and consequences of service experience toward retailers’ digital transformation by comparing empirical results from entrepreneurs and consumers. For ...entrepreneurs, the critical antecedents of service experience include entertainment, tangibility, reliability, and empathy. For customers, the critical antecedents include entertainment, interactivity, tangibility, and empathy. Meanwhile, regarding the consequences of service experience, service experience directly affects both continuous use intention and satisfaction. However, satisfaction mediates the relationship between service experience and continuous use intention for entrepreneurs. In addition, no direct effect is found. Overall, service experience has a meditating effect between stimulus and response variables. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs and customers have different perceptions of the proposed topic.
Gender equality in scientific research has gradually attracted attention from many countries. However, the possible interaction effect of gender on research funding has not been fully disclosed. This ...study conducts an empirical study to examine the possible influences of gender on research funding and its interaction effect with applicants’ social influences, including their external cumulative advantages (Matthew effect) and internal cognition (halo effect). In total, 1465 research projects from 2015 to 2021 are analysed to examine the proposed hypotheses. The results reveal that there is no gender inequality in the association between the Matthew effect and future research funding. However, the halo effect is easily affected by gender. For male scientists, higher institutional reputation and past research performance lead to higher future research funding. However, female scientists have no such benefits. According to the findings, this study suggests that female scientists should give priority to accumulating their own external resource advantages and participate in academic activities more frequently to activate women’s participation in scientific research and academia.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the critical factors that will affect the decision to adopt cloud computing technology in developing countries, specifically in Taiwan's hospital industry. This study mainly integrates the TOE (Technology-Organization-Environment) framework and HOT-fit (Human-Organization-Technology fit) model to understand this issue. Information was collected by employing a questionnaire research design to hospital CIOs in Taiwan. The obtained results indicate that the 5 most critical factors are data security, perceived technical competence, cost, top manager support, and complexity. Further, among the proposed four dimensions the most important one is technology followed by human, organizational, and environmental factors. Finally, the results show that significant differences exist in CIO innovativeness, data security, compatibility, top manager support, adequate resource, and perceived industry pressure across different adopting groups. For practitioners, this study identifies key factors for hospitals to make an adoption decision toward cloud computing technology. As for academia, this study can be provided as a useful reference for future studies in this subject field.

The purpose of this study attempts to understand why consumers rarely shop online. Innovation resistance theory is employed in this study. Results of the survey utilizing a questionnaire among the members of study case indicated that value and tradition are major barriers toward use intention. Significant differences in usage barrier and image barrier exist between different non-adopted groups. On average, rejecters group have the highest barriers, followed by opponents, and postponers. Finally, there exist significant differences in usage, value, tradition, and image barriers between adopters and non-adopters toward buying experience goods online. These findings provide a better understanding of consumer’s attitude toward buying experience goods online.
PurposeSelf-service technology (SST) has become popular in many areas, but consumers from many countries still prefer human-provided services. Why is this so? The purpose of this paper is to ...understand the possible reasons by integrating two perspectives: personal characteristics marketing and the information systems success model (IS success model).Design/methodology/approachThe authors propose an integrated model and conduct an empirical questionnaire survey which generates a total of 345 valid responses.FindingsThe authors find that personal technology anxiety and the need for interpersonal interaction are critical factors that affect SST usage continuance intention. Furthermore, personal technology anxiety affects the consumer’s perception of the quality of both the information and the SST system itself, which determines the level of satisfaction and the intention to continue to use the system. Second, the IS success model perspective reveals that the following factors determine the level of perceived satisfaction with SST: information quality, system quality, enjoyment and design. However, only information quality and system quality affect the intention to continue SST usage. The authors also find that satisfaction and the need for interpersonal interaction also determine the SST usage continuance intention.Originality/valueThe IS success model is found to be helpful in understanding the underlying reasons for this. To aid in the development of successful future SSTs, these findings can be referenced by countries in which SST is not so popular. Our proposed model further enhances the theoretical development of the IS success model.
This study aims to introduce the dimensions of mobile payment services trust from the perspectives of trust transfer as well as the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT2). We ...established an integrated model to understand the formation and dimensions of mobile payment trust and continuous usage intention in Taiwan.
/methodology/approach– An integrated model is proposed and validated with an online questionnaire survey in Taiwan. Furthermore, SmartPLS is employed to validate the proposed model and hypotheses.
The results found upon analyzing responses from 683 participants reveal that the significant antecedents of overall trust include trust in mobile payment service providers, mobile devices, and merchants (R2 = 75%). Furthermore, overall trust has significant effects on performance and effort expectancies with regard to mobile payment. Finally, the determinants of continuous usage intention include overall trust, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, habit, and perceived value (R2 = 85%).
“Trust” of mobile payment is a common concern for developing mobile payment. However, the literature review conducted for this study unearth different perspectives on studying the “dimensions” of trust in previous mobile payment research studies. Besides, many studies consider trust as a generic term as opposed to studying its specific dimensions. This study attempts to fill the above research gaps to facilitate further understanding of the proposed topic. Therefore, the main contribution of this study is to analyze the multiple dimensions and formations of trust in the context of mobile payment.

The exploration of the general antecedents of what would cause users to adopt innovative information technologies in land sectors is critical for digital transformation in terms of governance. This ...empirical study employs a push-pull-mooring (PPM) framework (a paradigm that originated from the human migration theory), to examine why users would switch from the traditional paper-based work pattern to land information system (LIS) applications. Based upon the relevant technology adoption theories, a couple of determinants have been integrated into the PPM framework. The land sectors undergoing digital transformation in China have been chosen for such analysis and investigation. Data collected from 208 public servants at administrative county level in China are analyzed to test the proposed hypotheses, using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. The results show that push factors (such as dissatisfaction with traditional work patterns), and pulling factors (such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and subjective norms) positively affect switching intention. Meanwhile, mooring factors such as inertia hinder switching behavior. Based on these findings, several behavior interventions and land information usage policy suggestions are put forward to promote the digital transformation in land sectors.
