Abstract
Ion Cyclotron Range of Frequencies (ICRF) heating and Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) can have synergy due to the acceleration of NBI beam ions by ICRF wave fields at their harmonics. To ...understand the influence of ICRF-NBI synergy on fast ion distribution and plasma performance, dedicated experiments and TRANSP simulations have been carried out on EAST. The simulation results are consistent with the experimental results. They show that the ICRF-NBI synergy not only accelerates the NBI beam ions with energy lower than 80 keV to energy larger than 300 keV, but also generates fusion neutrons with energy larger than 3 MeV. Moreover, ICRF-NBI synergy improves the plasma performance by increasing the poloidal beta, plasma stored energy, core ion temperature, total neutron yield and kinetic pressure. In a typical H-mode plasma with 1.0 MW NBI and 1.5 MW ICRF power, it was observed that ICRF-NBI synergy increases the poloidal beta, plasma stored energy, core ion temperature and neutron yield by ∼35%, 33%, 22% and 80%, respectively. Various parameter scans show that the ICRF-NBI synergetic effects can be enhanced by decreasing the minority ion concentration or the distance between the harmonic resonance and magnetic axis, or by increasing the ICRF heating power or NBI beam energy. Consequently, this leads to a generation of fast ions with higher energy. For instance, the maximum energy of the fast ion tail increases from 300 to 600 keV as n(H) decreases from 5% to 0.1%.
Efficient high-power continuous-wave Nd:YVO
visible lasers at versatile wavelengths of 532 (green), 559 (lime), and 588 nm (yellow) are demonstrated to be achieved by using the identical cavity ...mirrors and gain medium. A dichroic coating is deposited on one end surface of the gain medium to gather the backward green-yellow emission. The green, lime, and yellow outputs are individually optimized by using different phase-matched lithium triborate (LBO) crystals for second harmonic generation (SHG) of the fundamental field, sum frequency generation (SFG) of the fundamental and the stimulated Raman fields, and SHG of the stimulated Raman field, respectively. At a pump power of 31.6 W, the output powers at 532, 559, and 588 nm can be up to 6.8, 5.4, and 3.1 W. The high efficient and compact Nd:YVO

beta decay of proton-rich nuclei plays an important role in exploring isospin mixing. The beta decay of P-26 at the proton drip line is studied using double-sided silicon strip detectors operating in ...conjunction with high-purity germanium detectors. The T = 2 isobaric analog state (IAS) at 13 055 keV and two new high-lying states at 13 380 and 11 912 keV in Si-26 are unambiguously identified through beta-delayed two-proton emission (beta 2p). Angular correlations of two protons emitted from Si-26 excited states populated by P-26 beta decay are measured, which suggests that the two protons are emitted mainly sequentially. We report the first observation of a strongly isospin-mixed doublet that deexcites mainly via two-proton decay. The isospin mixing matrix element between the Si-26 IAS and the nearby 13 380-keV state is determined to be 130(21) keV, and this result represents the strongest mixing, highest excitation energy, and largest level spacing of a doublet ever observed in beta-decay experiments.
Post-operative pneumonia (Pop) following meningioma surgery is the dominant systemic complication which could cause serious threats to patients. It is unclear whether hematological biochemical ...markers are independently associated with the Pop. This study attempted to perform a more comprehensive study of taking both clinical factors and hematological biomarkers into account to promote the management of patients after meningioma surgery.
We collected clinical and hematological parameters of 1156 patients undergoing meningioma resection from January 2009 to January 2013. According to whether the symptoms of pneumonia had manifested, patients were divided into the Pop group and the Non-Pop group. We analyzed the distinctions of clinical factors between the two groups. We successively performed univariate and multivariate regression analysis to identify risk factors independently associated with the Pop.
4.4% patients infected with the Pop (51 of 1156). The median age at diagnosis of the Pop patients was significantly older than the Non-Pop group (p = 0.002). There were strike distinctions of post-operative hospital stays between two groups, with 21 days and 7 days each (p < 0.001). On multivariate analysis, tumor relapse (p < 0.001), skull base lesions (p = 0.001), intra-operative blood transfusion (p = 0.018) and cardiovascular diseases (p = 0.001) were linked with increased risk of the Pop following meningioma resection. For hematological biochemical markers, it was the factor of Red blood cell distribution width-standard deviation (RDW-SD) (OR 5.267, 95%CI 1.316, 21.078; p = 0.019) and Neutrophils lymphocytes ratio (NLR) (OR 2.081, 95%CI 1.063, 4.067; p = 0.033) that could appreciably predict the Pop.
Apart from tumor recurrence, localizations, intra-operative blood transfusion and cardiovascular diseases are independent risk factors for the Pop. We initially found hematological RDW-SD and NLR are also important predictors.
A compositive synthesis of gel polymer electrolytes by blending poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) into poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) as a polymer host is proposed. The ...blending polymer is produced by a facile solution casting method and ester groups of PPC are successful introduced into PVDF-HFP. The gel polymer electrolyte displays an excellent ion conductivity of 1.18 × 10−3 S cm−1, broad electrochemical window up to 4.8 V (vs. Li/Li+) and outstanding electrochemical stability within rechargeable lithium batteries at room temperature. The improvement of ion conductivity is attributed to the decrease of polymer crystallizability and the increase of micro pores. The strategy of blending is promising for the modification of PVDF-HFP electrolyte and foreground application in next-generation solid energy conversion devices.

Prevalence of disseminated Penicillium marneffei infection is not known in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of and risk ...factors for disseminated P. marneffei infection in HIV-infected patients during 2004–11 in Guangzhou, China. We tested 8131 archived HIV-infected patient serum samples for P. marneffei-specific mannoprotein (Mp1p) antigen using a highly sensitive and specific ELISA that we previously established. The CD4 count of 2686 cases was determined by flow cytometry. Logistic regression was used to assess predictors of Mp1p antigenaemia. The overall prevalence of disseminated penicilliosis as detected by positive serum Mp1p antigen was 9.36% (761/8131), in good concordance with Platelia™ Aspergillus immunoassay. During 2004–11, the prevalence increased to a peak of 12.58% (158/1256) in 2010 and decreased in 2011. Penicilliosis was strongly associated with progression from HIV to AIDS (OR 4.66, 95% CI 3.94–5.51, p <0.001) and humidity (OR 1.02, 95% CI 1.01–1.03, p 0.002). Disseminated penicilliosis occurred mainly during the rainy seasons (p <0.001). For 2686 cases with known CD4 count, logistic regression showed that CD4 count of <200 cells/μL was a risk factor for penicilliosis (OR 2.90, 95% CI 1.10–7.66, p 0.032), especially when it was <50 cells/μL (OR 24.26, 95% CI 10.63–55.36, p <0.001) during which 28.06% of patients developed disseminated penicilliosis. In conclusion, approximately 9.36% of the HIV-infected patients in our study developed disseminated penicilliosis. Rapid diagnosis may be achieved by performing serological surveillance for Mp1p antigenaemia as a routine procedure for all HIV-infected patients with CD4 count of <50 cells/μL.
•Compression, tension, torsion and plane strain compression tests were carried out.•The globularization behavior related to deformation modes were characterized.•Characteristic of substructure, ...boundary splitting and structure coarsening was investigated.
The correlation between lamellar globularization and deformation modes during the primary hot processing of titanium alloy was evaluated by means of uniaxial compression, tension, torsion and plane strain compression tests. The microstructure evolution features and underlying globularization mechanisms were comparatively studied via Electron Backscattered Diffraction technique. Noticeable divergences of globularization response are captured in different deformation modes, especially for the globularized fractions and the critical strain. In the face of the strain applied is less than the critical globularization value (0.4−0.63) under uniaxial compression, the lamellae can be still globularized under tension or torsion deformation. But the growth rate of globularized fraction is more sluggish under tension than that under torsion deformation. The lamellae separation at early tension deformation preferentially occurs at junctions of lamellae without destroying Burgers Orientation relationship and significant orientation fluctuation. Shear deformation can facilitate the formation of intra-α boundaries and its distribution uniformity, which could make the lamellae grow up into globularized particles and improve the globularization heterogeneity. It is envisaged that the results obtained can provide guidance for the technology scheme and route design of primary hot working of titanium alloy aiming at the homogeneous equiaxed grains.
