Background: Rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects the nervous system. The components of rabies post-exposure prophylaxis involve wound treatment, Rabies Immune Globulin, and the anti-rabies ...vaccine. Proper compliance with the rabies vaccination schedule is crucial to prevent development of Rabies Objectives: 1) To assess prevalence of non-compliance and delayed compliance towards post-exposure prophylaxis of the anti-rabiess vaccine of GMC, Jammu 2) To study factors associated with and reasons of delayed compliance and non-compliance towards post-exposure prophylaxis of the anti-rabies vaccine of GMC, Jammu Methodology: A cross- sectional study was carried out from September 2022 to July 2023 on 594 animal bite victims presenting to OPD of the anti-rabies clinic of GMC, Jammu for the first time, with category 2 and 3 bites were included Results: Males were about 76.9%, and females, 23.1%. Graduates were 29.3%. Animal bites were mainly from stray dogs (58.2%), with category three wounds (93.8%). Wound washing practices were done by 540 (90.9%), about 58 (9.8%) had used only water and about 482 (81.1%) had used only soap and water for wound washing. 71.7% completed the full course of Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV), 24.6% showed delayed compliance, and 3.7% were non-compliant or dropouts. Delayed compliance was observed on the second (35%), third (42.4%), and fourth doses (22.6%). Reasons for delayed compliance included distant residence, loss of wages, and forgetfulness. Non-compliance reasons included negligence and health issues. No socio- demographic factors showed an association with compliance with ARV. Conclusion: The urgent need to increase awareness and counseling for individuals bitten by animals. Special attention is crucial for promptly administering Anti-Rabies Immunoglobulin in severe cases (category 3 bites) to prevent rabies
Food insecurity is a matter of public health concern as it is associated with adverse health outcomes particularly among vulnerable population. Accessibility and availability of nutritious and ...culturally appropriate food is paramount to achieve zero hunger. To assess the prevalence of household food insecurity, to estimate the household dietary diversity and its association with household food insecurity.
Using multistage sampling 381 rural households were surveyed. Household Food Insecurity Access Scale and House hold Dietary Diversity Scale were used as study instruments. Chi square test was used to compare the two groups and
< 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.
Prevalence of household insecurity was 33.3% (127) among the surveyed households and 8.1% (31) had severe food insecurity. The mean HFIS score was 6.85 ± 4.82. The household Dietary diversity score was 8.14 ± 1.54 for food secure and 6.51 ± 1.38 for severely food insecure households. There was a statistically significant difference in intake of milk and milk products, fruits, eggs and meat/poultry among food secure and insecure households (
< 0.001 respectively).
Food insecurity was high in rural households and was associated with lower dietary intake of foods from protein group, necessitating a need to reinforce the food security programmes in rural India with focus to enhance protein rich diet.
Background: Postpartum depression refers to non-psychotic depressive episode that begins immediately after childbirth. Although delivering a baby is a happy event but many females develop depressive ...symptoms. About 13% of postpartum women experience a mental disorder, primarily depression worldwide. The aim is to estimate the prevalence of Postpartum depression among the mothers and to determine the association of Perceived Social Support, socio demographic and other obstetric variables with Postpartum depression. Methodology: The study was conducted among the Postpartum mothers attending the immunization section of a Tertiary care hospital, Jammu, India. Tools used are- Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), Hamilton depression Rating Scale (HDRS) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). SPSS software was used to analyse the data. Results: Prevalence of Postpartum Depression was found to be 16.1%. Variables like residence, occupation, h/o domestic violence, family h/o mental illness, eventful antenatal period, h/o hospitalization of baby, unwanted parenthood and low social support emerged to be independent predictors of Post Partum depression. Conclusions: Postpartum mothers particularly those, who were having poor social support are highly vulnerable to depression. Every postpartum mother should be screened for postpartum depression and timely referred to the psychiatrists. Also, family members need to be counselled.
A BSTRACT Background: Both diabetes mellitus and psychiatric morbidities are widely prevalent diseases which show a discerning upward trend globally. Coexistence of diabetes and psychiatric ...morbidities usually manifests as impaired quality of life and poor treatment adherence. Objectives: The study aimed to estimate the prevalence of psychiatric morbidities among rural diabetic patients and to determine their association with different variables. Methodology: The present cross-sectional study was conducted in CHC of Rural Health Block attached with PG Department of Community Medicine GMC (Government Medical College) Jammu. The eligible diabetic patients attending medical outpatient department services were enrolled using a consecutive sampling method. DAS scale was used to assess psychiatric morbidity among the study subjects. Results: The findings revealed that the prevalence of psychiatric morbidity in the study participants was 38.9%, 68.5% and 25.64% for depression, anxiety and stress, respectively. Psychiatric morbidities were slightly higher in female patients and were significantly associated with age, marital status, sedentary lifestyle, history of substance abuse, duration of diabetes, presence of complications and underlying morbidities ( P < 0.05). Conclusions: The prevalence of anxiety and depression among rural diabetic patients was found to be quite high. Diabetic patients need thorough screening for psychiatric evaluation, and there is an urgent need for psychiatric counselling at regular intervals.
In this paper, we develop a unified framework to design a video surveillance network which also ensures that the selected cameras form a fully connected wireless network. The importance of including ...the wireless connectivity constraints in the design process is established. The results also show how the total number of cameras in the network can be traded-off with the number of terminals at which these cameras are installed. The advantages of including multiple camera types in the design is shown in reducing the minimum number of cameras that are needed. Essentially, our results allow these multiple camera types to be optimally selected to better tile and cover the desired area.
Introduction: Muscle tightness may be caused due to protective muscle contraction in the presence of neural mechanosensitivity. Proprioception is altered by changes in length and stiffness of muscle ...tendon units, consequently affecting balance. Neurodynamic sliding interventions are hypothesised to decrease the neural mechanosensitivity and hence advantageous in improving the flexibility and consequently the balance

We report a case of ischemic fasciitis in a 34-year-old male patient who presented with hard swelling on the anterior aspect of the scalp measuring 5 × 4 cm. He gave a history of wearing a tight ...turban constantly for many years. The lesion initially presented as redness of the skin, which gradually became a nodular swelling over 2 years. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed conical solid soft tissue attenuation mass. The operative findings were suspicious of neoplasm. However, the microscopic findings were typical of ischemic fasciitis, that is, a zonal pattern with central hypocellular fibrinoid necrosis surrounded by more cellular areas containing prominent proliferating neovessels and fibroblasts resembling granulation tissue. Ischemic fasciitis of the scalp is extremely rare, the present case occurred as a result of ischemia continuously exerted due to wearing a tight turban. This case highlights the importance of eliciting relevant case history and avoids histological misinterpretation of this pseudo-neoplastic lesion.
