Abstract
This Article aims to elucidate servitisation through the lens of Hegel’s personality theory, which justifies property based on its role in shaping our identity. The growing prominence of ...servitisation enables us to interact with and derive benefits from things not only through ownership but also through contractual access. In this light, it is submitted that the personality justification offers a helpful theoretical framework to inform a clearer conception of servitisation, which in turn sheds illuminating light on its effective legal shaping and regulation. Through the lens of personality theory, I argue that long-term servitisation is functionally equivalent to formal property in promoting the actualisation of personhood, while the short-term counterpart supports the experimentation of personality. The relational nature of Hegelian property is reinforced in servitisation. Accordingly, a functional approach to property lends itself to the proper regulation of servitisation, where contracts could be employed to set out the governance framework for servitised property. Legal regulation on servitisation should play both protective and facilitative roles in the servitised economy.
To observe the efficacy of EarWell ear orthosis in treating children with different types of ear deformities.
We selected 80 children aged <6 weeks with ear deformities (110 ears: 15, 30, 21, 25, and ...19 ears with prominent ear, lop ear, cup ear, cryptotia, and helical rim deformity, respectively). Differences in effectiveness rate, treatment time, and incidence of complications among children with different types of auricular deformities were compared. Recurrence rates at 1 and 3 months after the treatment were compared.
The overall success rate was 92.73 %, and the treatment effectiveness rate did not differ significantly among the children with different types of auricular malformations (P > 0.05). The correction time of the helical rim deformity was the shortest, and the correction times of the prominent and cup ears were significantly longer than those of the other groups (P < 0.05). The incidence of complications associated with helical rim deformity and lop ear was lower, and the incidence of prominent and cup ear complications was significantly higher than that in the other groups (P < 0.05). The recurrence rate in children with prominent and cup ears was higher at 1 and 3 months after correction, and children with a lop ear and cryptotia showed no recurrence at 1 and 3 months after treatment, which correlated with the correction time, incidence of complications, and recurrence rate (P < 0.05)
The EarWell auricle orthosis is an effective treatment in children with auricular morphological malformations. Correction time, complication rate, and recurrence rate were related to the malformation type.
As the most abundant component in black tea, thearubigins (TRs) contribute a lot to black tea's characteristic color, mouthfeel, and potential health benefits. But compared to lower molecular weight ...black tea polyphenols, there are fewer researches that focus on TRs because of their heterogeneity. This review summarized recent research progress on (1) isolation method of TRs; (2) structure analysis and formation mechanism of TRs; (3) biofunctions of TRs, including antioxidation, antimutagenic and anticancer effects, effects on mitochondrial activation, gastrointestinal motility and skeletal health, to show some future research aspects and prospects of TRs.
Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is the major polyphenolic compound present in green tea and is generally regarded as an effective antioxidant. However, its chemical reactivity makes it susceptible ...to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) via autooxidation and exhibit prooxidant effects. The prooxidant actions of EGCG could play a dual role, being both beneficial and harmful. This review summarized recent research progress on (1) the anticancer, antiobesity, and antibacterial effects of EGCG and (2) the possible toxicity of EGCG. The major focus is on the involvement of prooxidant effects of EGCG and their effective doses used. Considering dosage is a crucial factor in the prooxidant effects of EGCG; further studies are required to find the appropriate dose at which EGCG could bring more health benefits with lower toxicity.
Microwave treatment, roasting, boiling, and enzymatic treatment were used to prepare cooked and instant chestnut flour, and the
in vitro
digestibility were compared. Cooking gelatinized the starch ...and destroyed the granular and crystal structure, increasing starch digestibility. After enzymatic hydrolysis, starches were degraded by 20~24%, and the reducing sugar content of the instant flours increased by 79~94%. Starch digestibility was reduced after enzymatic hydrolysis, however, the estimated glycemic index (GI) increased to 65.1 ~ 77.7 due to the combined effect of increased reducing sugar and decreased starch hydrolysis in the instant flours. The chestnuts treated by ‘boiling + enzymes’ are still a medium GI food. These findings give guidance for the development of low GI cooked and instant chestnut flour.
This work examined the effect of ultrasound and microwave treatments, separate and in combination, on the physicochemical and functional properties of chestnut starch. The results revealed that the ...ultrasonic-microwave (UM) and microwave-ultrasonic (MU) dually modified samples exhibited more severe surface damage, weaker birefringence, and lower relative crystallinity and gelatinization enthalpy than the native and single-treated starches. The UM samples showed the highest oil absorption capacity, and the MU samples showed the highest water absorption capacity and the best freeze-thaw stability (five cycles) among all samples. The swelling power, peak, trough, final, and breakdown viscosities, and pasting temperature all decreased regardless of single or dual modification. This study provides a reference for potential industrial applications of ultrasound and microwave treatments for the modification of chestnut starch.
•FTIR and chemometrics were used to detect the authenticity of walnut oil.•FTIR and chemometrics were used to detect the adulteration of walnut oil.•The classification limit of soybean oil ...adulterated in walnut oil by FTIR was 10%.•Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to detect the adulteration of walnut oil.•The classification limit detected by fluorescence spectroscopy was less than 5%.
Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and fluorescence spectroscopy combined with soft independent modeling of class analogies (SIMCA) and partial least square (PLS) were used to detect the authenticity of walnut oil and adulteration amount of soybean oil in walnut oil. A SIMCA model of FTIR spectra could differentiate walnut oil and other oils into separate categories; the classification limit of soybean oil in walnut oil was 10%. Fluorescence spectroscopy could differentiate oil composition by the peak position and intensity of emission spectrum without multivariate analysis. The classification limit of soybean oil adulterated in walnut oil by fluorescence spectroscopy was below 5%. The deviation of the prediction model for fluorescence spectra was lower than that for FTIR spectra. Fluorescence spectroscopy was more applicable than FTIR in the adulteration detection of walnut oil, both from the determination limit and prediction deviation.
Nanoparticles have been successfully used for immobilization of different enzymes. The enzyme immobilized by nanomaterials has promising application in the biotechnological industry. The ...β-glucosidase is very important in industrial field. The immobilization of β-glucosidase by nanomaterials increases its activity and reusability. In this work, the β-glucosidase was extracted from fruiting bodies of Agrocybe aegirit and was purified by anion exchange. The β-glucosidase was immobilized by SiO2 nanoparticles (nano-SiO2) crosslink with glutaraldehyde (GA). On the other hand, the β-glucosidase firstly immobilized by process adsorption and then crosslink with genipin (GP) which was produced by the hydrolysis of geniposide by β-glucosidase. Then we compared the properties of both immobilized GA-crosslinked β-glucosidase and GP-crosslinked β-glucosidase, their immobilization yields were 83.34% and 96.29% respectively. The GA-crosslinked β-glucosidase and free β-glucosidase revealed optimal pH at 6.0. The optimal pH of GP-crosslinked β-glucosidase was ranging between 4.5 and 7.5. The GA-crosslinked β-glucosidase and GP-crosslinked β-glucosidase revealed the optimal temperature at 50 °C, 70 °C respectively. For the free β-glucosidase, the optimal temperature was 55 °C. Furthermore, the GA-crosslinked β-glucosidase and GP-crosslinked β-glucosidase were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The geniposide consumption in the reaction system of GA-crosslinked β-glucosidase was analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
