Bovine whey protein expression patterns of colostrum are much different from that of milk. However, to our knowledge, no research has been performed to date using a comparative proteomic method on the changes in the bovine whey proteome during the transition from colostrum to milk. This study therefore separated whey protein of days 1, 3, 7 and 21 after calving using two dimension electrophoresis. Differentially expressed proteins at different collection times were identified using high-performance liquid chromatography in tandem with mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and validated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in order to understand the developmental changes in the bovine whey proteome during the transition from colostrum to milk. The expression patterns of whey protein of days 1 and 3 post-partum were similar except that immunoglobulin G was down-regulated on day 3, and four proteins were found to be down-regulated on days 7 and 21 compared with day 1 after delivering, including immunoglobulin G, immunoglobulin M, albumin, and lactotransferrin, which are involved in immunity and molecule transport. The results of this study confirm the comparative proteomic method has the advantage over other methods such as ELISA and immunoassays in that it can simultaneously detect more differentially expressed proteins. In addition, the difference in composition of milk indicates a need for adjustment of the colostrum feeding regimen to ensure a protective immunological status for newborn calves. Multiple PCR amplification of the three fragments covering the expected mutations in GJB2, SLC26A4 and 12S were carried out and the amplified products were analyzed by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP).
Eighteen homozygous and 18 heterozygous 235delC, 2 homozygous and 13 heterozygous IVS7-2A>G, and 8 homogeneous 1555A>G were detected in the 200 patients with hearing loss. All the results were confirmed by sequencing. The detection rate of the three mutant alleles was 21.7% (71/400 + 8/200 = 0.217) and the genetic diagnosis rate was 14% (18+2+8)/200 = 0.14.
It is a convenient, efficient and economical method to screen the hot spots of mutation in the patient with hereditary hearing loss by using PCR-RFLP.

Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables secure key exchanges between two remote users. The ultimate goal of secure communication is to establish a global quantum network. The existing field tests ...suggest that quantum networks are feasible. To achieve a practical quantum network, we need to overcome several challenges, including realising versatile topologies for large scales, simple network maintenance, extendable configuration, and robustness to node failures. To this end, we present a field operation of a quantum metropolitan-area network with 46 nodes and show that all these challenges can be overcome with cutting-edge quantum technologies. In particular, we realise different topological structures and continuously run the network for 31 months, by employing standard equipment for network maintenance with an extendable configuration. We realise QKD pairing and key management with a sophisticated key control center. In this implementation, the final keys have been used for secure communication such as real-time voice telephone, text messaging, and file transmission with one-time pad encryption, which can support 11 pairs of users to make audio calls simultaneously. Combined with inter-city quantum backbone and ground-satellite links, our metropolitan implementation paves the way toward a global quantum network.
The chest and abdomen soft tissue injury risk to three-year old (3YO) child occupant in a child restraint system (CRS) was investigated by using finite element (FE) simulation, based on the UN R129 ...dynamic test regulation. In which, Q3 dummy FE models and THUMS 3YO Occupant Model Academic Version 4 (THUMS 3YO) and two types of CRSs (impact shield and five-point harness) were used. The chest physical injury parameters, and the chest soft inner organs parameters were compared in two types of CRSs. The simulation result shows that significant difference of chest deformation observed in Q3 and THUMS 3YO. The stress and strain distribution of chest and abdomen visceral organs of THUMS 3YO in the two CRSs were larger than the injury threshold. Moreover, in the impact shield CRS, the distribution of the stress-strain and absolute value was larger, to predict a higher chest injury risk.
An arbitrary unknown quantum state cannot be precisely measured or perfectly replicated. However, quantum teleportation allows faithful transfer of unknown quantum states from one object to another ...over long distance, without physical travelling of the object itself. Long-distance teleportation has been recognized as a fundamental element in protocols such as large-scale quantum networks and distributed quantum computation. However, the previous teleportation experiments between distant locations were limited to a distance on the order of 100 kilometers, due to photon loss in optical fibres or terrestrial free-space channels. An outstanding open challenge for a global-scale "quantum internet" is to significantly extend the range for teleportation. A promising solution to this problem is exploiting satellite platform and space-based link, which can conveniently connect two remote points on the Earth with greatly reduced channel loss because most of the photons' propagation path is in empty space. Here, we report the first quantum teleportation of independent single-photon qubits from a ground observatory to a low Earth orbit satellite - through an up-link channel - with a distance up to 1400 km. To optimize the link efficiency and overcome the atmospheric turbulence in the up-link, a series of techniques are developed, including a compact ultra-bright source of multi-photon entanglement, narrow beam divergence, high-bandwidth and high-accuracy acquiring, pointing, and tracking (APT). We demonstrate successful quantum teleportation for six input states in mutually unbiased bases with an average fidelity of 0.80+/-0.01, well above the classical limit. This work establishes the first ground-to-satellite up-link for faithful and ultra-long-distance quantum teleportation, an essential step toward global-scale quantum internet.
This paper presents a solution for the license plate recognition problem under low illumination on the basis of in-depth analysis of the characteristic of license plate images. In recent years, with ...the development of technologies such as optics, computers and pattern recognition, license plate recognition technology is improved constantly, but the accuracy of license plate recognition under low illumination environment still needs to be improved. In this paper, we employs remarkable texture feature from license plate area to find the approximate area of the license plate. Then we determine the final location of the license plate area according to the candidate's gray distribution features. The proposed localization algorithm is superior to the traditional background subtraction method. After obtaining the license plate, this paper segments characters through skew correction, image enhancement, projection segmentation, and prior knowledge. Finally, two kinds of algorithms are used to identify Chinese and alphanumeric characters respectively, because of the differences in the structure of Chinese characters and alphanumeric characters. The algorithm is tested with 207 vehicle images under low illumination. Experimental results show that the accuracy of proposed algorithm for license plate localization is 98.06%, the accuracy of character recognition is 94.90%.
