Introduction: The Covid-19 epidemic began in the city of Wuhan, China, in December 2019, but quickly spread to the world. The main theories raised included contact between a human being and an ...infected animal and an accident in a laboratory in China. Science rushed to create a vaccine against the disease, and the first immunizers were ready in mid-2020. Until then, it took more than 10 years for a vaccine to be ready, while the one that fights Covid-19 reached people\'s arms in months. This rapid production has meant that even today we still have doubts about the harmful effects of Covid-19 vaccines. Objectives: To discuss, through a literature review, some studies on the influence of vaccines on the increase in heart disease after Covid-19. Material and Methods: This article is a systematic review, based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) methodology, which seeks to identify the obstacles to achieving Coronavirus therapy and the increase in heart disease after vaccines, by analyzing pre-conducted studies. Literature review: In most of the studies observed by this review, there was no relationship between Covid-19 vaccines and an increase in heart disease. Some studies suggest that a pro-thrombotic syndrome has been described in a small number of individuals after being vaccinated. Final considerations: The adverse effects of Covid-19 vaccines are mild in most of the studies analyzed, they are common and do not pose any risk. However, it was also mentioned that there is no vaccine or drug without any associated adverse effects.
Bacterial biofilm formation during chronic infections confers increased fitness, antibiotic tolerance, and cytotoxicity. In many pathogens, the transition from a planktonic lifestyle to ...collaborative, sessile biofilms represents a regulated process orchestrated by the intracellular second-messenger c-di-GMP. A main effector for c-di-GMP signaling in the opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the transcription regulator FleQ. FleQ is a bacterial enhancer-binding protein (bEBP) with a central AAA+ ATPase σ54-interaction domain, flanked by a C-terminal helix-turn-helix DNA-binding motif and a divergent N-terminal receiver domain. Together with a second ATPase, FleN, FleQ regulates the expression of flagellar and exopolysaccharide biosynthesis genes in response to cellular c-di-GMP. Here we report structural and functional data that reveal an unexpected mode of c-di-GMP recognition that is associated with major conformational rearrangements in FleQ. Crystal structures of FleQ’s AAA+ ATPase domain in its apo-state or bound to ADP or ATP-γ-S show conformations reminiscent of the activated ring-shaped assemblies of other bEBPs. As revealed by the structure of c-di-GMP–complexed FleQ, the second messenger interacts with the AAA+ ATPase domain at a site distinct from the ATP binding pocket. c-di-GMP interaction leads to active site obstruction, hexameric ring destabilization, and discrete quaternary structure transitions. Solution and cell-based studies confirm coupling of the ATPase active site and c-di-GMP binding, as well as the functional significance of crystallographic interprotomer interfaces. Taken together, our data offer unprecedented insight into conserved regulatory mechanisms of gene expression under direct c-di-GMP control via FleQ and FleQ-like bEBPs.

Sensory analysis, instrumental color, pH, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) were determined on cooked chicken meat with and without grape seed extract during refrigerated storage. ...The effectiveness of extracts of winery grape residue from the grape varieties 'Isabel' and 'Niagara' were tested to evaluate their effectiveness at delaying lipid oxidation in cooked chicken meat and stored under refrigeration (4±1℃). The samples were aerobically and vacuum packaged and stored for 14 days. 'Isabel' grape extract (IGE) and 'Niagara' grape extract (NGE) proved effective at promoting oxidative stability when applied at concentrations of 40 or 60 mg of gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/kg, with results similar to the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). The antioxidant efficiency of the extracts was highly dependent on the concentration used. The addition of grape-residue extracts combined with vacuum packaging proved to be a good method for increasing lipid stability in cooked chicken meat stored under refrigeration.

We assessed frailty using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS). We also evaluated 15 basic, instrumental, and mobility activities. Baseline frailty and disability were defined by clinical conditions 2-4 weeks before COVID-19, and post-COVID-19 was characterized 90 days (day 90) after hospital discharge. We used alluvial flow diagrams to visualize transitions in frailty status, Venn diagrams to describe the overlap between frailty and disabilities in activities of daily living, and linear mixed models to explore the occurrence of new disabilities following critical care in COVID-19. We included 428 participants with a mean age of 64 years, 57% males, and a median Simplified Acute Physiology Score-3 score of 59. Overall, 14% were frail at baseline. We found that 124/394 participants (31%) were frail at day 90, 70% of whom were previously non-frail. The number of disabilities also increased (mean difference, 2.46; 95% CI, 2.06-2.86), mainly in participants who were non-frail before COVID-19. Higher pre-COVID-19 CFS scores were independently associated with new-onset disabilities. At day 90, 135 patients (34%) were either frail or disabled.
Frailty and disability were more frequent 90 days after hospital discharge compared with baseline in COVID-19 patients admitted to the ICU. Our results show that most COVID-19 critical care survivors transition to poorer health status, highlighting the importance of long-term medical follow-up for this population.

We searched studies in the Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases between 2009 and 2019. A total of 155 references were found for searching relevant articles using Boolean search. After exclusion of redundancies and assessing of title, abstract, and full text for eligibility, 11 articles were selected. The total sample size was 1077 distributed in 8 different countries.
Significant results were found for differential diagnosis between Alzheimer's disease and major depressive disorder, such as overall mental status, episodic memory, visuospatial construction, delayed recognition task, semantic verbal fluency, visual task in short-term memory, atrophy of the hippocampus, cortical activation in specific tasks, and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers.
These findings are good pathways for discriminating Alzheimer's disease from major depression in the elderly.
The use of electroconvulsive therapy in case of catatonia due to systemic lupus erythematosus refractory in treatment with immunosuppressant is rare. Therefore, we report a case of catatonia due to ...systemic lupus erythematosus treated with electroconvulsive therapy as an adjuvant to cyclophosphamide treatment. A 34-year-old female patient diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus attended the rheumatology outpatient clinic with a history of catatonia for 8 weeks and laboratory tests revealed high titers of anti-ds DNA positive anti-RNP and polyclonal gammopathy. cyclophosphamide pulse therapy was scheduled in association with electroconvulsive therapy, in 12 sessions, twice a week. The patient evolved with significant clinical improvement after 6 sessions of electroconvulsive therapy and 2 pulses of cyclophosphamide, with negative anti-ds DNA and normalization of gamma globulin levels. Thus, electroconvulsive therapy should be considered as adjuvant therapy in severe cases of neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus, including catatonia, especially in those with relapses and poor response to immunosuppressant and psychotropic drugs.
