This paper implements a deep learning-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with adversarial training and infused pixel information to classify multi-spectral data into 4 LULC classes and cloud. ...The network is capable of classifying the image on a real-time basis at acquisition time in pixel level by considering the various spectral band values at the pixel and a spatial region around the pixel to collect the spatial features. This way, both spatial information, and spectral information are considered to classify the image. This novel GAN architecture named RTC-GAN is generalized over all the satellites that have their sensors in and around standard NIR, R and G spectral bands while being able to classify the images in realtime. This network is realized and tested on data obtained from satellites Landsat 8 Sentinel2 and Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites like Cartosat-2S, Resourcesat-2/2A. The dataset is not open-sourced and hence very minimal information is provided regarding the IRS data.
This report describes a method in which a customized carrier was fabricated for a patient experiencing difficulty during initial brachytherapy treatment, while using a conventional radiation carrier. ...When designing a customized brachytherapy carrier for a maxillary defect, it is imperative to achieve stability and retention to ensure maximal therapeutic radiation to the desired location. The fabrication and benefits of using a customized, retentive, stable, and comfortable orofacial brachytherapy carrier are described.
In recent years, certain luminous extragalactic optical transients have been observed to last only a few days. Their short observed duration implies a different powering mechanism from the most ...common luminous extragalactic transients (supernovae) whose timescale is weeks. Some short-duration transients, most notably AT2018cow, display blue optical colours and bright radio and X-ray emission. Several AT2018cow-like transients have shown hints of a long-lived embedded energy source, such as X-ray variability, prolonged ultraviolet emission, a tentative X-ray quasiperiodic oscillation, and large energies coupled to fast (but subrelativistic) radio-emitting ejecta. Here we report observations of minutes-duration optical flares in the aftermath of an AT2018cow-like transient, AT2022tsd (the "Tasmanian Devil"). The flares occur over a period of months, are highly energetic, and are likely nonthermal, implying that they arise from a near-relativistic outflow or jet. Our observations confirm that in some AT2018cow-like transients the embedded energy source is a compact object, either a magnetar or an accreting black hole.
The oxidation of 34 sulfides by bis(2,2‘-bipyridyl)copper(II) permanganate (BBCP) resulted in the formation of the corresponding sulfoxide. The reaction is first order with respect to BBCP. ...Michaelis−Menten type kinetics were observed with respect to the sulfides. The reaction is catalyzed by H+. The rate of the reaction increases with an increase in the amount of acetic acid in the solvent. The rates of oxidation of meta- and para-substituted phenyl methyl sulfides showed excellent correlation with Charton's LDR equation. The rates of the ortho-compounds showed excellent correlation with the LDRS equation. The oxidation of the ortho- and para-compounds is more susceptible to the delocalization effect. The oxidation of the meta-compounds exhibited a greater dependence on the field effects. The reaction is subject to steric inhibition when an ortho-substituent is present. The oxidation of alkyl phenyl sulfides is subject to both polar and steric effects of the alkyl groups. The polar reaction constants are negative, indicating an electron-deficient sulfur center in the rate-determining step. Probable mechanisms are discussed.
The third observing run by LVC has brought the discovery of many compact binary coalescences. Following the detection of the first binary neutron star merger in this run (LIGO/Virgo S190425z), we ...performed a dedicated follow-up campaign with the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) and Palomar Gattini-IR telescopes. The initial skymap of this single-detector gravitational wave (GW) trigger spanned most of the sky observable from Palomar Observatory. Covering 8000 deg\(^2\) of the initial skymap over the next two nights, corresponding to 46\% integrated probability, ZTF system achieved a depth of \(\approx\)\,21 \(m_\textrm{AB}\) in \(g\)- and \(r\)-bands. Palomar Gattini-IR covered 2200 square degrees in \(J\)-band to a depth of 15.5\,mag, including 32\% integrated probability based on the initial sky map. The revised skymap issued the following day reduced these numbers to 21\% for the Zwicky Transient Facility and 19\% for Palomar Gattini-IR. We narrowed 338,646 ZTF transient "alerts" over the first two nights of observations to 15 candidate counterparts. Two candidates, ZTF19aarykkb and ZTF19aarzaod, were particularly compelling given that their location, distance, and age were consistent with the GW event, and their early optical lightcurves were photometrically consistent with that of kilonovae. These two candidates were spectroscopically classified as young core-collapse supernovae. The remaining candidates were ruled-out as supernovae. Palomar Gattini-IR did not identify any viable candidates with multiple detections only after merger time. We demonstrate that even with single-detector GW events localized to thousands of square degrees, systematic kilonova discovery is feasible.
Oxidation of aliphatic aldehydes by benzyltrimethylammonium chlorobromate to the corresponding carboxylic acid proceeds via the transfer of a hydride ion from the aldehyde hydrate to the oxidant.
Mandatory reporting legislation was enacted with little consideration of its consequences for ongoing therapeutic relationships. One consequence is the unanticipated and coercive uses of the law in ...mental health settings. Thirty therapists and 25 child protective service workers were interviewed about their experiences with mandatory reporting in therapy relationships. The interviews revealed unanticipated as well as coercive uses of mandatory reporting in therapeutic relationships, including prompting crisis in family systems to promote change, and using reporting or threats of it to enforce attendance and engagement in therapy. Therapists'd anger and view of reporting as a form of power or tool for social control also related to coercive uses of mandatory reporting. The special case of coercion in mandated cases resulting from mandatory reporting legislation is discussed as well.
