This study examined the effects of technology-assisted yoga on care burden, quality of life, and psychological well-being among caregivers of individuals with special needs. This study is designed ...pretest-posttest, follow-up, and control group randomized controlled trial. Data were collected from a sample of 60 caregivers of individuals with special needs. Data collection involved the use of a Socio-demographic Data Collection Form, the Caregiver Burden Scale, the Multidimensional Index of Life Quality, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. Measurements were taken before the yoga intervention, as well as at the 3rd and 6th months during the intervention. Statistical analyses included the student’s t test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test, repeated measures ANOVA, and Fisher LSD. SPSS 24.0 and STATISTICA software packages were utilized for data analysis. The effect size and post hoc power were assessed using G Power 3.1.9.6. Initial caregiver scores were found to be moderate. Significant differences were observed among the groups, over time, and in group*time comparisons for various sub-dimensions of the care burden scale, life quality scale, and mental well-being scale. The study yielded large effect sizes and a post hoc power of over .94 for all scales in the posttest and follow-up analyses. The findings indicate that a 6-month yoga program for caregivers of individuals with special needs reduced care burden and enhanced quality of life and psychological well-being.

Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) is an important phenomenon that is recently been recognized to play roles on prostate cancer metastasis through both epigenetic and biochemical signaling ...pathways. Using tissue engineering tools, we recreated a metastatic tumor niche to study the role of mir200 (a small RNA proven to reverse EMT processes) on extracellular matrix (ECM) fiber diameter guided prostate cancer cell EMT.
LNCaP cells were cultured on fibrous scaffolds for 48 hours. Role of fiber diameter (0.5 and 5 μm respectively) on cell morphology, viability, metabolic rate and EMT characteristics was assessed. Finally, the cells on fibers were transfected with a mir200 precursor to study the synergy between substrate topography and epigenetic signals on EMT of LNCaP prostate cancer cells.
LNCaP cells formed cell clusters on fibers with 0.5 μm diameter while they form spindle shaped single cells possessing mesenchymal-like morphology when they were cultured on 5 μm diameter polymer fibers. The metabolic rate of cells growing on 5 μm fibers showed a substantial increase at 48 hours compared to flat topography or 0.5 μm- diameter fiber topography. LNCaP morphology is significantly different. Epithelial markers were stained positive on cells growing on small fibers while mesenchymal markers were positive on cells growing on large diameter fibers. mir200 did not alter the observed cell morphology on large diameter fibers.
Our results indicate that substrate topography is the governing signal for LNCaP prostate cancer cells to undergo EMT and mir200 did not reverse the EMT morphology on large diameter fibers.
This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study aiming to reveal the relationship of gratitude and coping styles with depression in caregivers of children with special needs. As a ...result of the study, which was conducted with 330 caregivers, it was determined that the caregivers’ level of gratitude was high. In this study, it was found that the caregivers used mostly turning to religion, planning, positive reinterpretation, and instrumental social support as coping styles respectively. It was established that there was a significant correlation between caregivers’ depression level and gender, education level, level of gratitude, focus on and venting of emotions, substance use, behavioural disengagement, positive reinterpretation, using emotional social support and planning coping styles. The depression disclosure level was found to be 17.8%. For holistic nursing care, the assessment of spiritual care and spiritual needs of caregivers is very important because of its positive effect on mental health.
This methodological study aimed to establish the validity and reliability of the Spiritual Care Needs Scale in the 9–18 age group within the Turkish context. Expert opinions were considered in the ...analysis of the study, which was completed with the participation of 840 children. The content validity index and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were examined, along with the results of the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses. The scale had 21 items under two subdimensions: “meaning and hope” and “caring and respect.” According to the EFA, the scale explained 57.5% of the total variance. The meaning and hope subdimension explained 53.3% of the total variance, whereas the care and respect subdimension explained 4.16%. The total Cronbach’s alpha value of the scale was 0.96, and the fit indexes were as follows:

Lower gastrointestinal operation results of 85 patients were examined accepted to clinical Pathology between January 1997-November 2013. Colon cancer had been diagnosed at 85 patients with pathology materials and staging was done according to the TNM and Modified Duke classification. The demographic characteristics of patients, differentiation grade, lymph node involvement, serous involvement were evaluated retrospectively.
In this study 37 patients (43.52%) were men and 48 (56.47%) were women. Ages of patients were between 19 and 87 with a mean age of 57.31 ± 15.31. Lymph node, differentiation, serosa involvement, Modified Dukes and TNM classification was assessed according to sex and age. TNM classification by sex was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant relationship between age and differentiation (p = 0.085). Value of differentiation increased towards from 1 to 3 inversely proportional to age. So young patients defined as well-differentiated at the conclusion. Negative relationship was evaluated between age and TNM Class variables. As a result, the relationship between age and TNM was not significant (p > 0.05). However, with increasing age the degree of staging was also found to increase. TNM classification was associated with the differentiation and it was significant (p = 0.043).
Colon cancer, when contracted at an early stage, it is suitable for surgery and curative treatment can be done with minimal morbidity and mortality. However, some of the patients have advanced disease at diagnosis and their 5-year survival rate is only 8%. Every year there is prolongation of overall survival of colon cancer. It is so common cancer type so that determination of prognostic factors, disease staging and treatment strategy which affects survival is significant.
We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and compared our FNAB results of non-thyroidal head and neck lesions with excisional biopsy results.
A total of ...866 aspiration material taken from different parts of head and neck region out of thyroid were evaluated at Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital Pathology Laboratory, between January 2002 and May 2013 and 248 of which has histopathologic response were included in the study. Patients depending on origin of the masses were divided into three categories as; salivary gland, lymph nodes and soft tissue/cystic lesions. The sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy values of fine needle aspiration biopsies have been investigated for all the series and individually for each category.
Diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive values of non-thyroidal head and neck masses were respectively; For all of the series; 94.6%, 97.9%, 96.7%, 95.9%, 97.2%, Salivary gland: 88.9%, 100%, 98.8%, 100%, 98.7%, Lymph nodes: 94.7%, 89.3%, 92.9%, 94.7%, 89.2%, Soft tissue/cystic lesions: 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%. For all of the series; there were 4 false negative (FN) cases; and 3 false positive (FP) cases.
FNAB in the diagnosis of head and neck masses; it is an easy, cheap and usefull procedure.
Although primary bone tumors are relatively uncommon, they constitute the most important tumors in patients less than 20 years. We aimed to determine the frequencies of primary bone tumors and ...tumor-like lesions of bone and the anatomical sites of their occurrence.
A retrospective review of histopathology reports of all bone specimens received in a private pathology laboratory in Istanbul between 2009 and 2015.
A total of 57 patients (aged 5 to 18 years) with a mean of 13.12 years were studied. Thirty five patients (61.4%) were males and 22 (38.6%) were females. Fifty five (94.4%) of the tumors were benign. Osteochondroma was the commonest tumor accounting for 31 cases (54.3%) followed by osteoid osteoma, 9 cases (15.7%). Chondrosarcoma observed in two patients and Ewing sarcoma in one patient as malignant tumors. Of the 57 bone tumors 13 (22.8%) occurred in the upper extremities, while 44 (77.2%) were in the lower extremities. Proximal humerus was the most commonly involved site in upper extremity tumors, with osteochondromas representing the most frequent type of tumor (4 patients; 7%). In the lower extremities again osteochondromas were the most common type of tumor (8 cases, 14%), with the femur being the most common site of involvement (18 patients, 31.5%). Of the patients with tumor-like lesions; four patients had fibrous dysplasia, 4 patients had non-ossified fibromas, 4 patients had simple bone cysts and 3 had aneurismal bone cyst.
This study showed that primary bone tumors were mainly benign, settled predominantly in the lower extremities mostly in the femur with a male preponderance. Osteochondroma was the most common benign bone tumor. We didn't observed osteosarcoma, which is the most frequent malignant bone tumor.
Bu araştırmada okul idarecilerinin çeşitli demografik değişkenler ölçüt alındığında birey örgüt uyumları ile tükenmişlik düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin anlamlı bir farklılık gösterip göstermediğini ...incelenmesi amaçlamıştır.Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeline uygun olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2020-2021 eğitim ve öğretim yılında İstanbul İli Maltepe İlçesinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı olarak faaliyet gösteren özel ve devlet ilkokul, ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan 186 okul idarecisi oluşturmaktadır.Araştırmanın verilerinin toplanmasında Cable ve Judge (1997) tarafından geliştirilen ve Ünal ve Turgut (2013) tarafından Türkçeye çevirisi yapılan 39 maddelik ‘Birey-Örgüt Uyumu Ölçeği’ ve mesleki tükenmişlik düzeylerini ölçmek üzere Maslach ve Jackson (1981) tarafından geliştirilen Ergin (1993) tarafından Türkçe uyarlaması yapılan ‘Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği’ kullanılmıştır. Birey-Örgüt Uyumu Ölçeğinin bu araştırma için uygunluğu Cronbach Alpha modeli ile güvenirlik katsayıları hesaplanarak incelenmiştir. Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği’nin bu çalışma için uygunluğu/güvenirliği ise madde analizi (Alphamodeli) yoluyla araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS 26.0 istatistik programına aktarılmış ve istatistiki çözümlemeleri yapılmıştır.Yapılan analizler sonucunda okul idarecilerinin medeni durumu hariç diğer değişkenlerin birey-örgüt uyumu düzeyi üzerinde anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Tükenmişlikleri incelendiğinde; okul idarecilerinin, görevi ve mesleki eğitim alma durumları, duygusal tükenme düzeyleri üzerinde anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturmazken, diğer değişkenler anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturmuştur. Duyarsızlaşma düzeyleri üzerinde ise okul idarecilerinin okul yönetimi konusunda eğitim almaları ve medeni durumlarının anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Ancak diğer demografik özellikler açısından anlamlı bir fark görülememiştir. Okul idarecilerinin, cinsiyet, yaş, okul türü ve okul yönetimi konusunda eğitim alma durumlarının, kişisel başarı düzeyleri üzerinde anlamlı bir farkı olmadığı fakat, okul idarecilerinin eğitim durumu, görevi, görev yapılan okul kademesi ve mesleki kıdemin kişisel başarı düzeyleriüzerinde anlamlı bir farkı olduğu görülmüştür.Sonuç olarak okul idarecilerinin birey örgüt uyumu puanları arttıkça duygusal tükenme ve duyarsızlaşma puanları da artmaktadır. Fakat okul idarecilerinin birey-örgüt uyumu puanları arttıkça kişisel başarı puanları düşmektedir. Bu çalışma ile okul idarecilerinin birey-örgüt uyumlarıyla tükenmişlik düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır.
