The frequency of natural disasters in Japan has increased in recent times. To ensure smooth transport of goods in the event of a large-scale low-frequency disaster, a network of emergency transport ...roads has been designed in Japan. However, while the frequency and nature of accidents are diverse, the emergency transport roads have not yet quantitatively grasped the degree of risk a disaster carries. In this study, the risk of this road network is quantitatively evaluated while considering various hazards such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and storm surges.
Background: Glucose variability is an indicator and independent predictors of mortality and severity of sepsis in critically septic patients of intensive care unit.
Objectives: This study evaluated ...the relationship of glucose variability in critically ill septic patients in relation with serum lactate.
Method: It is a prospective observational study was conducted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Department of Anesthesia, Pain, Palliative Care and Intensive Care, Dhaka Medical College hospital, Dhaka over a period of one year in between 1st January- 31st December, 2015. Total 51 septic adult patients were included in the study according to the selection criteria. In this study, 8 consecutive capillary blood samples were taken with a periodic interval of 3 hours starting from admission. Mean and standard deviation (SD) blood glucose were computed to see the glucose variability and agreement done with serum lactate and severity of sepsis. All collected data were registered documented and analyzed in the statistical program Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0.
Result: Among total 51 patients, 52.9% study cases were of 4th decade with a mean age of 46±12 years had a mild female predominance. Glycemic variability was taken as >2SD. High glycemic variability observed in 70.6% cases. Good agreement observed in glucose variability with serum lactate by Kappa Statistics.
Conclusion: Glucose variability shows the prediction of sepsis and it could be used as a useful alternative tool to predict sepsis and severity of sepsis.

Dalbergia sissoo L. and Catharanthus roseus L. are important medicinal plants used since olden times for the treatment of various diseases like skin diseases, eye ailments and inflammatory ...conditions. The main aim of the study was to assess the pharmacological effects of D. sissoo leaves extract (DSLE) and C. roseus leaves extract (CRLE) for the treatment of inflammation associated corneal neovascularization (CNV). Both plant materials were powdered and extracted with the methanol. Phytochemical evaluation of methanol extract of D. sissoo leaves and C. roseus leaves was performed using different chemical tests and thin layer chromatography (TLC). Pharmacological effects of DSLE and CRLE were carried out using chemically induced CNV in animal model. Histological analysis of corneal tissues was also performed. Phytochemical evaluation of the extracts has demonstrated the presence of major phytochemicals like flavonoids, tannins, saponins, terpenes, and steroids in the DSLE and alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, glycosides, steroids, and phenols in the CRLE. TLC of both extracts also indicated the presence of different phytochemicals. Photographic analysis of DSLE and CRLE demonstrated that they had inhibited the CNV positively as compared to the vehicle control and positive control groups. Histological analysis of both extracts confirmed the results of photographic analysis that indicated the recovery and rearrangement of corneal fibers and absence of inflammatory cells and blood vessels. Findings from the current study suggest that the DSLE and CRLE can be used for the treatment of CNV.
In the onset of 1980, Government, educators, and employers prepared a series of reports identifying key skills and implementation strategies to guide students, workers towards meeting the demands of ...the changing world. Finally, the abridged list of skills refers to the learning skills, literacy skills, and life skills which are felt important for the success of students in the current situations. The students required these skills when shift to college, university, workplace and in full-aged life. The components of those skills were: creative thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, technical literacy, media literacy, computer literacy, flexibility, initiatives, social-skills, productivity, and leadership.
To provide knowledge and training on those skills individual academic institutions required standards capacity level for producing right graduates. In our society a significant level of gaps is persistently lying between the demand and supply of human resources. This may result large percentage of structural unemployment. As a result, it is felt to design the study for finding out the immediately needed skills, and skills to be made available in the moderate time frame, and skills to be made available in the remote time frame. These have been worked out by interviewing 300 passed out graduates from 10 selected universities functioning in our society. The study validates the data collected from the students holding discussions with employer’s representatives and organizing FGD.
A binary logistic-regression model along with PCA techniques were deployed for grouping the skills into immediate, moderate time remote time frame. The estimated results of the parameters of the model are found very significant which means that the model fitted to the data significantly.
On the basis of the estimated model, the immediately, needed skills are identified as communication, creativity, initiative and media literacy. The second group of skills that should be made available in the moderate time frame is included as: critical thinking, information literacy, leadership and productivity. Lastly, the study suggested that the skills on technology literacy, collaboration, flexibility and social-skills should be made available for building a complete man in the long time frame because these concepts, knowledge, and skills depend on learning and practices with sincerity.
