lines revealed that hypomorphic mutants are viable but display developmental defects and reduced plant fertility. Hypersensitivity of
taf1
mutants lacking the C‐terminal bromodomain to X‐rays and mitomycin C, but not to other forms of abiotic stress, established a specific role for
TAF
1 in plant
DNA
repair processes. Collectively these studies reveal a function for
TAF
1 in plant resistance to genotoxic stress, providing further insight into the molecular mechanisms of the
DNA
damage response in plants.

recombination pathways are critical for genome stability, fertility and survival of organisms. Here we establish a molecular link between a recombination endonuclease and a histone acetyltransferase involved in transcription initiation, providing insight into chromosomal break detection and

repair processes.

We report the discovery of four transiting giant planets around K dwarfs. The planets HATS-47b, HATS-48Ab, HATS-49b, and HATS-72b have masses of , , , and , respectively, and radii of , , , and , ...respectively. The planets orbit close to their host stars with orbital periods of days, days, days, and days, respectively. The hosts are main-sequence K dwarfs with masses of , , , and , and with V-band magnitudes of , , and . The super-Neptune HATS-72b (a.k.a. WASP-191b and TOI 294.01) was independently identified as a transiting planet candidate by the HATSouth, WASP, and TESS surveys, and we present a combined analysis of all of the data gathered by each of these projects (and their follow-up programs). An exceptionally precise mass is measured for HATS-72b thanks to high-precision radial velocity (RV) measurements obtained with VLT/ESPRESSO, FEROS, HARPS, and Magellan/PFS. We also incorporate TESS observations of the warm Saturn-hosting systems HATS-47 (a.k.a. TOI 1073.01), HATS-48A, and HATS-49. HATS-47 was independently identified as a candidate by the TESS team, while the other two systems were not previously identified from the TESS data. The RV orbital variations are measured for these systems using Magellan/PFS. HATS-48A has a resolved neighbor in Gaia DR2, which is a common-proper-motion binary star companion to HATS-48A with a mass of 0.22 and a current projected physical separation of ∼1400 au.
Achieving closure in a chronic wound requires provision of adequate oxygen delivery to the tissue, adequate protein and other nutritional factors, a moist environment, an appropriate inflammatory ...milieu, dèbridement, and correction of contributing medical diagnoses. In some patients, these conditions are achieved easily, whereas in others, greater effort is required. Adjunctive treatments, including HBO2, growth factors, skin substitutes, and negative-pressure wound therapy (e.g., V.A.C.) can provide the proper conditions for healing in appropriately selected patients.
A proportion of patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 experience a range of neuropsychiatric symptoms months after infection, including cognitive deficits, depression ...and anxiety. The mechanisms underpinning such symptoms remain elusive. Recent research has demonstrated that nervous system injury can occur during COVID-19. Whether ongoing neural injury in the months after COVID-19 accounts for the ongoing or emergent neuropsychiatric symptoms is unclear. Within a large prospective cohort study of adult survivors who were hospitalized for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection, we analysed plasma markers of nervous system injury and astrocytic activation, measured 6 months post-infection: neurofilament light, glial fibrillary acidic protein and total tau protein. We assessed whether these markers were associated with the severity of the acute COVID-19 illness and with post-acute neuropsychiatric symptoms (as measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire for depression, the General Anxiety Disorder assessment for anxiety, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment for objective cognitive deficit and the cognitive items of the Patient Symptom Questionnaire for subjective cognitive deficit) at 6 months and 1 year post-hospital discharge from COVID-19. No robust associations were found between markers of nervous system injury and severity of acute COVID-19 (except for an association of small effect size between duration of admission and neurofilament light) nor with post-acute neuropsychiatric symptoms. These results suggest that ongoing neuropsychiatric symptoms are not due to ongoing neural injury.
While conducting a study on the costs and benefits of electronic health records (EHRs) in solo and small group practices, use of the EHR to improve quality of care emerged as an important issue. An ...on-line provider survey was conducted to compliment our qualitative data. We found providers using an EHR were quite proficient at replicating their paper processes, but were less apt to use EHR features designed to improve quality of care.
The small GTPases of the Rho family are intimately involved in integrin-mediated changes in the actin cytoskeleton that accompany cell spreading and motility. The exact means by which the Rho family ...members elicit these changes is unclear. Here, we demonstrate that the interaction of paxillin via its LD4 motif with the putative ARF-GAP paxillin kinase linker (PKL) (Turner et al., 1999), is critically involved in the regulation of Rac-dependent changes in the actin cytoskeleton that accompany cell spreading and motility. Overexpression of a paxillin LD4 deletion mutant (paxillinΔLD4) in CHO.K1 fibroblasts caused the generation of multiple broad lamellipodia. These morphological changes were accompanied by an increase in cell protrusiveness and random motility, which correlated with prolonged activation of Rac. In contrast, directional motility was inhibited. These alterations in morphology and motility were dependent on a paxillin-PKL interaction. In cells overexpressing paxillinΔLD4 mutants, PKL localization to focal contacts was disrupted, whereas that of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and vinculin was not. In addition, FAK activity during spreading was not compromised by deletion of the paxillin LD4 motif. Furthermore, overexpression of PKL mutants lacking the paxillin-binding site (PKLΔPBS2) induced phenotypic changes reminiscent of paxillinΔLD4 mutant cells. These data suggest that the paxillin association with PKL is essential for normal integrin-mediated cell spreading, and locomotion and that this interaction is necessary for the regulation of Rac activity during these events.
