The proximate composition, fatty acid, and amino acid profile of the body wall and viscera of each red and black sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) from Ulleungdo(Island) and Dokdo(Island) in ...Korea were compared. Moisture, ash, crude protein, and crude lipid contents ranged between 80.26-91.49, 2.57-6.85, 1.13-3.99, and 0.14-2.12%, respectively. The fatty acid values varied depending on the species and the regions of collection. The anteiso C17:0, C16:1Δ∨9, C17:1Δ∨7, C18:1Δ∨11, and C16:2Δ∨7 were only observed in the body wall. Among the tested fatty acids, the C18:1Δ∨11 was specific in red sea cucumber, and C20:4Δ∨6 (17.7%) and C20:5Δ∨3 (17.6%) were the predominant polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in all samples. The contents of the C18:0 dimethyl acetal (C18:0 DMA), C16:1Δ∨7, C16:1Δ∨5, and C18:1Δ∨5 were compared in details. Total amino acids (TAA) of body wall were 1.3-1.9 times higher than those of viscera. Glutamic acid and aspartic acid constituted the major TAA of sea cucumbers. The ratio of essential amino acids (EAA): nonessential amino acids (NEAA) on TAA ranged from 1.15 to 0.67 of sea cucumbers. Viscera of red sea cucumber from Dokdo(Island) were rich in free amino acids (FAA) and showed a high content in leucine.
The purpose of this study was to develop a period analysis algorithm for detecting new variable stars in the time-series data observed by charge coupled device (CCD). We used the data from a variable ...star monitoring program of the CBNUO. The R filter data of some magnetic cataclysmic variables observed for more than 20 days were chosen to achieve good statistical results. World Coordinate System (WCS) Tools was used to correct the rotation of the observed images and assign the same IDs to the stars included in the analyzed areas. The developed algorithm was applied to the data of DO Dra, TT Ari, RXSJ1803, and MU Cam. In these fields, we found 13 variable stars, five of which were new variable stars not previously reported. Our period analysis algorithm were tested in the case of observation data mixed with various fields of view because the observations were carried with 2K CCD as well as 4K CCD at the CBNUO. Our results show that variable stars can be detected using our algorithm even with observational data for which the field of view has changed. Our algorithm is useful to detect new variable stars and analyze them based on existing time-series data. The developed algorithm can play an important role as a recycling technique for used data
UV Psc is a typical RS CVn type system undergoing dynamic chromosphere activity. We performed photometric observations of the system in 2015 and secured new BVR light curves showing well-defined ...photometric waves. In this paper, we analyzed the light curves using Wilson-Devinney binary code and investigated the orbital period of the system. The combination of our light curve synthesis with the spectroscopic solution developed by previous investigators yielded the absolute parameters as: $M_1=1.104{\pm}0.042M_{\odot}$, $R_1=1.165{\pm}0.025R_{\odot}$, and $L_1=1.361{\pm} 0.041L_{\odot}$ for the primary star, and $M_2=0.809{\pm}0.082M_{\odot}$, $R_2=0.858{\pm}0.018R_{\odot}$, and $L_2=0.339 {\pm}0.010L_{\odot}$ for the secondary star. The eclipse timing diagram for accurate CCD and photoelectric timings showed that the orbital period may vary either in a downward parabolic manner or a quasi-sinusoidal pattern. If the latter is adopted as a probable pattern for the period change, a more plausible account for the cyclic variation may be the light time effect caused by a circumbinary object rather than an Applegate-mechanism occurring via variable surface magnetic field strengths.
An algorithm is proposed for MA system identification using the third- and fourth-order cumulants. Asymmetric non-Gaussian input and Gaussian measurement noise are assumed. Simulation results show ...that the proposed algorithm is useful when the characteristics of noise are not known or when the SNR is low.< >
Recently the Korean government has been promoting national e-health project to systemically build an integrated health care system from 2004 to 2010. The e-health project could realize electronic ...health record (EHR), telemedicine, technology standardization, and technology interoperability by sharing medical information and technology among hospitals. Via such innovation, total reform of the existing health and medical system could be carried out. Therefore, many positive outcomes generate such as improvement in health care system, increase in patientspsila accessibility of medical care and satisfaction, enhancement in medical equality, improvement in medical quality, reduction in costs, and business rationalization of hospitals. From the national perspective, the project is anticipated to improve transparency by overcoming inequality of healthcare system, and enhance accountability by providing well structured health administrative services. However, to support e-health project it is necessary to solve information security issues such as protecting the privacy of personally-identifiable health records and preventing discrimination based on genetic information. Moreover, the policy priority should be creating legal and institutional environment in order to establish sensible cooperation among medical and governmental organization.
Objectives: The purpose is to confirm the relationship between bite force and saliva through muscle exercise or stretching related to chewing, and to confirm the activation of the caustic muscles ...accordingly to help improve and prevent bite force and saliva secretion. Methods: From November 14 to November 20, 2023, among adults aged 19 or older living in Busan Metropolitan City, a study was conducted on those who are not undergoing dental treatment or have no restrictions on bowing activities. Results: The most positive results were found in Group 4, which performed Chin Tuck Against Resistance, stretching and massage together. Conclusions: I think it is necessary for various subjects to find ways to exercise easily and conveniently strengthen their work-related sources.
Here we present a rare case of pulmonary arterial thrombosis associated with a ductus arteriosus aneurysm that caused severe pulmonary stenosis. A 5-day-old newborn was admitted to our hospital for ...the evaluation of an intracardiac mass-like lesion found after the detection of a cardiac murmur. Echocardiography and heart computed tomography revealed a mass-like lesion measuring 8.1 mm in diameter across the distal main pulmonary artery to the proximal left pulmonary artery resulting in localized severe stenosis of the left pulmonary artery. Left pulmonary artery angioplasty for surgical resection of the thrombus revealed that the mass was adherent to the proximal part of the left pulmonary artery anterior wall and extended to the ductus arteriosus. Histological examination of the mass showed an old thrombus with dystrophic calcification. Five months after surgery, follow-up echocardiography showed that the left pulmonary artery peak pressure gradient had decreased but the proximal left pulmonary artery stenosis remained. Cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty successfully relieved the pulmonary stenosis.
We report on analysis of the two-color VR CCD observations of the newly discovered variable 2MASS J18024395+4003309=VSX J180243.9+400331 obtained using the 1-m telescope of the Mt. Lemmon Observatory ...(LOAO) in the field of the intermediate polar V1323 Her. The extended version of this conference talk we published in 2015JASS...32..127A. The variability was reported in 2012OAP...25..150A, and the object was monitored. The two-color observations covered all phase interval. The object is classified as an Algol-type variable with tidally distorted components, and shows an asymmetry of the maxima (the OĆonnell effect). For phenomenological modeling, we used the trigonometric polynomial approximation of statistically optimal degree, and a recent method "NAV" (New Algol Variable) using local specific shapes for the eclipse. Methodological aspects are described, especially for the case of few color observations. Estimates of the physical parameters based on analysis of phenomenological parameters, are presented.
