We explore the cosmic censorship in the Einstein–Maxwell-dilaton theory following Wald's thought experiment to destroy a black hole by throwing in a test particle. We discover that at probe limit the ...extremal charged dilaton black hole could be destroyed by a test particle with specific energy. Nevertheless the censorship is well protected if backreaction or self-force is included. At the end, we discuss an interesting connection between Hoop Conjecture and Weak Gravity Conjecture.
We revisit the Parikh-Wilczek's tunneling model of Hawking radiation in the Schwarzschild black hole with soft hair. Unlike the no-hair black hole, tunneling through the degenerate event horizon ...generated by supertranslation hair picks up an angular dependence, which suggests a hairy modification to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. At last, we discuss several implications and possible observable of soft hair.

; Pdx1-Cre (KC) mice. Functionally, BCAT2 enhances BCAA uptake to sustain BCAA catabolism and mitochondrial respiration. Notably, BCAA enhances growth of pancreatic ductal organoids from KC mice in a dose-dependent manner, whereas addition of branched-chain α-keto acid (BCKA) and nucleobases rescues growth of KC organoids that is suppressed by BCAT2 inhibitor. Moreover, KRAS stabilizes BCAT2, which is mediated by spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) and E3 ligase tripartite-motif-containing protein 21 (TRIM21). In addition, BCAT2 inhibitor ameliorates PanIN formation in KC mice. Of note, a lower-BCAA diet also impedes PDAC development in mouse models of PDAC. Thus, BCAT2-mediated BCAA catabolism is critical for development of PDAC harbouring KRAS mutations. Targeting BCAT2 or lowering dietary BCAA may have translational significance.
Single-pixel imaging via compressed sensing can reconstruct high-quality images from a few linear random measurements of an object known a priori to be sparse or compressive, by using a point/bucket ...detector without spatial resolution. Nevertheless, random measurements still have blindness, limiting the sampling ratios and leading to a harsh trade-off between the acquisition time and the spatial resolution. Here, we present a new compressive imaging approach by using a strategy we call cake-cutting, which can optimally reorder the deterministic Hadamard basis. The proposed method is capable of recovering images of large pixel-size with dramatically reduced sampling ratios, realizing super sub-Nyquist sampling and significantly decreasing the acquisition time. Furthermore, such kind of sorting strategy can be easily combined with the structured characteristic of the Hadamard matrix to accelerate the computational process and to simultaneously reduce the memory consumption of the matrix storage. With the help of differential modulation/measurement technology, we demonstrate this method with a single-photon single-pixel camera under the ulta-weak light condition and retrieve clear images through partially obscuring scenes. Thus, this method complements the present single-pixel imaging approaches and can be applied to many fields.
Recently, quantum anomalous Hall effect with spontaneous ferromagnetism was observed in twisted bilayer graphenes (TBG) near 3/4 filling. Importantly, it was observed that an extremely small current ...can switch the direction of the magnetization. This offers the prospect of realizing low energy dissipation magnetic memories. However, the mechanism of the current-driven magnetization switching is poorly understood as the charge currents in graphenes are generally believed to be non-magnetic. In this work, we demonstrate that in TBG, the twisting and substrate induced symmetry breaking allow an out of plane orbital magnetization to be generated by a charge current. Moreover, the large Berry curvatures of the flat bands give the Bloch electrons large orbital magnetic moments so that a small current can generate a large orbital magnetization. We further demonstrate how the charge current can switch the magnetization of the ferromagnetic TBG near 3/4 filling as observed in the experiments.
Despite progress in the treatment of diabetic macular edema and diabetic retinopathy, the rate of lower fundus examination due to limitations of medical resources delays the diagnosis and treatment ...of diabetic retinopathy. Therefore, implementation of automated diabetic retinopathy screening program and the identification of more specific and sensitive biomarkers are important for facilitating the earlier detection of diabetic macular edema and diabetic retinopathy to decrease the prevalence of poor vision and blindness.

A Jaynes-Cummings toy model for a black hole in the cavity is proposed to demonstrate how to write a qubit via the angular-dependent transition coupling, which might be related to the soft Goldstone hairs after analytic continuation. At last, we show how information is retained in the black hole by computing the time evolution of mutual entanglement entropy in the cavity-black holes system.
GetOrganelle is a state-of-the-art toolkit to accurately assemble organelle genomes from whole genome sequencing data. It recruits organelle-associated reads using a modified "baiting and iterative ...mapping" approach, conducts de novo assembly, filters and disentangles the assembly graph, and produces all possible configurations of circular organelle genomes. For 50 published plant datasets, we are able to reassemble the circular plastomes from 47 datasets using GetOrganelle. GetOrganelle assemblies are more accurate than published and/or NOVOPlasty-reassembled plastomes as assessed by mapping. We also assemble complete mitochondrial genomes using GetOrganelle. We study entanglement between two modes of a free bosonic and fermionic field as seen by two relatively accelerating observers at the soft-hair horizon of a four-dimensional supertranslated ...Schwarzschild black hole. First, we associate the shock wave to the near horizon geometry by explicit construction of map between their metric as well as relation between wave form factor and soft hair function. We then compute mutual information and entanglement negativity as a measure of entanglement between these two observers and show that their angular dependence at the soft-hair horizon. We also show that for vanishing soft hair function our results are equal to that of an ordinary Schwarzschild black hole case.
Non-benzodiazepine hypnotics (Z-drugs) are advocated to be safer than benzodiazepines (BZDs). This study comprehensively investigated the association of BZD and Z-drug usage with the risk of ...hospitalisation for fall-related injuries in older people.
This study used the Taiwan National Health Insurance Database with a nested matched case-control design. We identified 2238 elderly patients who had been hospitalised for fall-related injuries between 2003 and 2012. They were individually matched (1:4) with a comparison group by age, sex, and index year. Conditional logistic regression was used to determine independent effects of drug characteristics (type of exposure, dosage, half-life, and polypharmacy) on older people.
Older people hospitalisation for fall-related injuries were significantly associated with current use of BZDs (adjusted odds ratio AOR = 1.32, 95% confidential interval CI = 1.17-1.50) and Z-drugs (AOR = 1.24, 95%CI = 1.05-1.48). At all dose levels of BZDs, high dose levels of Z-drugs, long-acting BZD, and short-acting BZD use were all significantly increased the risk of fall-related injuries requiring hospitalisation. Polypharmacy, the use of two or more kinds of BZDs, one kind of BZD plus Z-drugs and two or more kinds of BZDs plus Z-drugs, also significantly increased the risk (AOR = 1.61, 95% CI = 1.38-1.89; AOR = 1.65, 95% CI = 1.08-2.50, and AOR = 1.58, 95% CI = 1.21-2.07).
Different dose levels and half-lives of BZDs, a high dose of Z-drugs, and polypharmacy with BZDs and Z-drugs were associated with an increased risk of fall-related injury requiring hospitalisation in older people. Physicians should balance the risks and benefits when prescribing these drug regimens to older people considering the risk of falls.
