MnSb films were deposited on porous silicon substrates by physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique. Modulation effects due to the substrate on microstructure and magnetic properties of the MnSb ...films were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and measurements of hysteresis loops. SEM images of the MnSb films indicate that net-like structures were obtained because of the special morphology of the substrates. The net-like MnSb films exhibit some novel magnetic properties different from the unpatterned referenced samples. For example, in the case of net-like morphology, the coercive field is as low as 60
Oe.
The growth of InAsxSb1-x films on (100) GaSb substrates by liquid-phase epitaxy (LPE) has been investigated and epitaxial InAs0.3Sb0.7 films with InAs0.91Sb0.09 buffer layers have been successfully ...obtained. The low X-ray rocking curve FHWM values of InAs0.3Sb0.7 layer shows the high quality of crystal-orientation structure. Hall measurements show that the highest electron mobility in the samples obtained is 2.9X104cm2V-1s-1 and the carrier density is 2.78X1016cm-3 at room temperature (RT). The InAs0.3Sb0.7 films grown on (100) GaSb substrates exhibit excellent optical performance with a cut-off wavelength of 12mum.
The output characteristics of micro-solar cell arrays are analyzed on the basis of a modified model in which the shunt resistance between cell lines results in current leakage. The modification ...mainly consists of adding a shunt resistor network to the traditional model. The obtained results agree well with the reported experimental results. The calculation results demonstrate that leakage current in substrate affects seriously the performance of GaAs micro-solar cell arrays. The performance of arrays can be improved by reducing the number of cells per line. In addition, at a certain level of integration, an appropriate space occupancy rate of the single cell is recommended for ensuring high open circuit voltages, and it is more appropriate to set the rates at 80%–90% through the calculation.

3 substrate at different elevated substrate temperatures with mass-analyzed low-energy dual ion beam ...deposition system. Auger electron spectroscopy depth profile of samples grown at different substrate temperatures indicates that the Mn ions reach deeper in samples with higher substrate temperatures. Clear X-ray diffraction peak from (Ga,Mn)N is observed in samples grown at the higher substrate temperature. It indicates that under optimized substrate temperature and annealing conditions the solid solution (Ga,Mn)N phase in samples was formed with the same lattice structure as GaN and different lattice constant.

Si samples were prepared by mass-analyzed low-energy dual ion beam epitaxy technique. Auger electron spectroscopy depth profiles indicate that the gadolinium ...ions are implanted into the single-crystal silicon substrate and formed 20

Si film. X-ray double-crystal diffraction measurement shows that there is no new phase formed. The XPS spectra show that one type of silicon peaks whose binding energy is between that of silicide and silicon dioxide, and the gadolinium peak of binding energy is between that of metal Gd and Gd

A semi-insulating GaAs single crystal ingot was grown in a recoverable satellite, within a specially designed pyrolytic boron nitride crucible, in a power-traveling furnace under microgravity. The ...characteristics of a compound semiconductor single crystal depends fundamentally on its stoichiometry, i.e. the ration of two types of atoms in the crystal. A practical technique for nondestructive and quantitative measuring stoichiometry in GaAs single crystal was used to analyze the space-grown GaAs single crystal. The distribution of stoichiometry in a GaAs wafer was measured for the first time. The electrical, optical and structural properties of the space-grown GaAs crystal were studied systematically. Device fabricating experiments prove that the quality of field effect transistors fabricated from direct ion-implantation in semi-insulating GaAs wafers has a close correlation with the crystal’s stoichiometry.
•Luteolin ameliorated high fat diet-induced cognitive dysfunction.•Luteolin inhibited obesity-induced oxidative stress in brain.•Luteolin suppressed obesity-induced neuroinflammation in ...brain.•Luteolin reduced obesity-induced neuron insulin resistance in brain.•Luteolin reduced obesity-induced glucose metabolic disorder in brain.
The epidemic and experimental studies have confirmed that the obesity can lead to neuroinflammation, neurodegenerative diseases and adversely affect cognition. Despite the numerous elucidations on the impact of obesity on cognition decline, the contributors to the impairments in obesity remain unclear. Male C57BL/6J mice were fed either a control or high-fat diet (HFD) for 16 weeks and then randomized into four groups treated with their respective diets for 4 weeks including control diet (CD); control diet+luteolin (CDL); high-fat diet (HFD), high-fat diet+luteolin (HFDL). The dose of luteolin was 10mg/kg, oral. We showed that adding luteolin in high-fat diet can significantly reduce body weight gain, food intake and plasma cytokines as well as improving glucose metabolism of mice on HFD. Importantly, we showed that luteolin treatment had the effects of alleviating neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and neuronal insulin resistance in the mouse brain, restored blood adipocytokines level to normal. Furthermore, luteolin increased the level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), the action of synapsin I (SYP) and postsynaptic density protein 95 (PSD-95) in the cortex and hippocampus as to that the behavioral performance in Morris water maze (MWM) and step-through task were significantly improved. These results indicate a previously unrecognized potential of luteolin in alleviating obesity-induced cognitive impairment for type-2 diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer disease (AD).
The development of drug-resistance in the opportunistic pathogen
has become a global public health concern. Due to the share of similar flora between pets and their owners, the detection of ...pet-origin antibiotic-resistant
is necessary. This study aimed to detect the prevalence of feline-origin ESBL
in China and to explore the resistance elimination effect of garlic oil to cefquinome on ESBL
. Cat fecal samples were collected from animal hospitals. The
isolates were separated and purified by indicator media and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). ESBL genes were detected by PCR and Sanger sequencing. The MICs were determined. The synergistic effect of garlic oil and cefquinome against ESBL
was investigated by checkerboard assays, time-kill and growth curves, drug-resistance curves, PI and NPN staining, and a scanning electronic microscope. A total of 80
strains were isolated from 101 fecal samples. The rate of ESBL
was 52.5% (42/80). The prevailing ESBL genotypes in China were
,
, and
. In ESBL
, garlic oil increased the susceptibility to cefquinome with FICIs from 0.2 to 0.7 and enhanced the killing effect of cefquinome with membrane destruction. Resistance to cefquinome decreased with treatment of garlic oil after 15 generations. Our study indicates that ESBL
has been detected in cats kept as pets. The sensitivity of ESBL
to cefquinome was enhanced by garlic oil, indicating that garlic oil may be a potential antibiotic enhancer.
