Although the acute stress response is important for the survival of animals, stress is a well-known cardiovascular disease risk factor. In contrast, regular exercise has been ...shown to have beneficial effects in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Long-term wheel running suppresses excessive increases in blood pressure and heart rate in rats under stress. How chronic exercise ameliorates the stress-associated adverse effects is an intriguing question. An early study has shown that restraint stress evokes HSP72 expression in the aorta. Recent results also indicate that habitual physical activity enhances stress-induced HSP72 induction in brain and various peripheral tissues, including adrenal gland, liver, and immune tissue. Moreover, elevated HSP72 expression in nucleus tractus solitarii (NTS) and rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM) improves the baroreflex capacity when rats are under heat stroke or sepsis. We present a new optical hetero-junction anisotropic structure (OHAS) consisting of an anisotropic layer sandwiched between two cholesteric (CLC) layers with different periodicity of helix.
Cholesteric liquid crystals show the unusual optical property of selective reflection of circularly polarized light, i.e., light with the same handedness as the CLC helix cannot propagate with the frequencies in the photonic band gap (PBG). In this study, we investigate the Bragg reflection properties of CLCs using the finite element method (FEM), a well-recognized numerical method. In this thesis, we developed a rehabilitation movement monitoring system which includes an embedded device and a remote server. The movement angle is measured by the embedded ...device using accelerometer and gyroscope as well as a Kalman filter. The functions of the device include voice guidance, audio feedback, and update/upload the rehabilitative parameter and the movement data to the remote server via the internet and SD card.
The accuracy of angle measurement has been verified in motor experiments using three different angular velocities. Moreover, the results of hip flexion, knee extension and walking action are also present a good accuracy on the main planes of motion by comparing with a 3D stereophotographic system. Therefore, the device can help patients to monitor their rehabilitation movement. Moreover, the device can also combine the internet and remote server to improve the efficiency of rehabilitation.

In Taiwan, at the present stage, green building evaluation technology focuses primarily on newly constructed buildings. For aged-buildings that are rapidly increasing in number, either ...there is no actual evaluation and improvement technology, or there is a lack of a comprehensive assessment system. Secondly, Taiwan founded the Taiwan Green Building Council (TGBC) in 2003 and was invited to be a member of the World Green Building Council (WGBC). This is a crucial moment for Taiwan’s building policies to become in line with the international standard. Therefore, for re-utilizing aged buildings and for internationalizing green building, it is both important and urgent to study topics including: prudently and efficiently apply Taiwan’s green building policy to the aged building improvement, and to be in line with the international standard.
First, this study will review documents on Taiwanese EEWH and the U.S. LEED Green Building technologies. From there I will compare and contrast the fundamental

Recent technological advances in wireless communications have enabled the easy installation and application of sensor network. However, the sensor node power supply ...either through power line or battery still obstacles the sensing system distribution. In this study, a novel sensor networks powered by the artificial light constructed to achieve wireless power transmissions. The 315 MHz band RF module was employed for the wireless data communication with the specific protocol based on the special energy beacon enabled mode. That realized zero power consumption during the node inactive periods. A 6W LED spotlight with dual axis tilt platform can power the distributed nodes in the distance up to 4 meters. Replacing 50W Lamp, it can achieve our goal in a good way of remote transmission and batter focusing. At experiment LED‘s focusing and light power losing issues are batter than Lamp characteristics. Isoflavones are naturally occurring dietary phytoestrogens in various plants, specifically in legumes, such as soybeans. In recent years, the isoflavones have been under ...intensive investigation due to their possible role in preventing certain hormone-dependent and other diseases,including breast and prostate cancers, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases. Fungi are usually the major microorganisms involved in the preparation of the traditional fermented foods using soybeans as the fermented substrate. Two major isoflavones found in soybean are daidzin and genistin, which are the glycoside conjugates of daidzein and genistein respectively. It had been proven recently each isoflavone glycoside can be hydrolyzed to the respective free isoflavone aglycone as 8-hydroxydaidzein by Aspergillus oryzae during soybean fermentation.
Therefore, in this study, we hope to find the best medium for the biotransformation process to obtain a great quantity of 8-hydroxydaidzein by A. oryzae.
