Discussion: The factors Information Access and Visibility were designed to impact team members’ ability to develop situation awareness by varying the ease for which information can be gathered to inform decisions.
Crisis motivates people to track news closely, and this increased engagement can expose individuals to politically sensitive information unrelated to the initial crisis. We use the case of the ...COVID-19 outbreak in China to examine how crisis affects information seeking in countries that normally exert significant control over access to media. The crisis spurred censorship circumvention and access to international news and political content on websites blocked in China. Once individuals circumvented censorship, they not only received more information about the crisis itself but also accessed unrelated information that the regime has long censored. Using comparisons to democratic and other authoritarian countries also affected by early outbreaks, the findings suggest that people blocked from accessing information most of the time might disproportionately and collectively access that long-hidden information during a crisis. Evaluations resulting from this access, negative or positive for a government, might draw on both current events and censored history.
Esta investigación busca evaluar la eliminación del requisito mínimo de electores para la obligatoriedad de los debates, con el objetivo de mejorar la toma de decisiones informadas en las elecciones. ...Se utilizó una metodología mixta para recopilar datos e información relevante. Los resultados demuestran que los electores consideran esencial establecer debates obligatorios para los candidatos seccionales, sin considerar el número de electores. La investigación concluye que los debates políticos proporcionan acceso a información sobre los candidatos y sus planes de gobierno, reduciendo la indecisión al votar.
El artículo presenta los resultados de la sistematización de estudios relacionados con el acceso a la información pública en Ecuador en torno al derecho que promueve el acceso a los datos públicos, ...al igual que los medios tecnológicos que las entidades ponen a disposición de los ciudadanos para transparentar la información y actuaciones gubernamentales. La fuente de información utilizada fue artículos originales encontrados en bases de datos como Scopus, Web of Science y Scielo de los años 2018 al 2022 y que contribuyeron con el objeto de esta investigación. Se concluye, que pese a los avances en materia de acceso público a la información, las deficiencias en su cumplimiento se tornan notorias por parte de las entidades gubernamentales.
