The expected growth of living standard, number of inhabitants and development of technology, industry and agriculture will cause a significant increase of energy consumption in cities. Three ...scenarios of energy sector development until 2030 and corresponding energy consumption for the city of Belgrade are analyzed in this paper. These scenarios consider different level of economic development, investments in energy sector, substitution of fossil fuels, introduction of renewable energy sources and implementation of energy efficiency measures. The proposed model for selection of optimal district heating system compares different options for fulfilling expected new heat demand through eight criteria for each scenario. Proposed options are combination of different energy sources and technologies for their use. The criteria weights are set according to Serbian economy and energy position. The criteria include financial aspects, environmental impact and availability of energy. Multi-criteria method ELECTRE (ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la REalite) is used as a tool for obtaining the optimal option. It is concluded that combination of CHP (combined heat and power) plant and centralized use of geothermal energy is optimal choice in the optimistic scenario. In the pessimistic and business as usual scenario the optimal option is combination of new gas boilers and centralized use of geothermal energy.
•Three scenarios for meeting new heat demand are developed and assessed.•Constructing CHP (combined heat and power) is desirable in case of significant electricity price growth.•In all scenarios the chosen option includes using geothermal energy for heating.
This article explores housing models and hybrid typologies advanced as part of an urban renewal programme in Belgrade (Serbia, former Yugoslavia) in the 1980s. We argue that these typologies were ...tested against the socialist-modernist model of mass residential construction that had been dominant since the 1960s. Our research identifies the design methodologies employed in the insertion of collective housing typologies into an elite residential quarter of traditionally-planned detached family houses, in the case of high-standard housing project Dedinje II/2 (1979-1986) designed by the architect Zoran Županjevac. The article particularly focuses on local adaptation of the transnational concept of designing spaces of transition between community and privacy. Instrumental in this adaptation, we aim to show, was the educational experience and professional practice critical of radical modernism gained by the architect in the USA, UK and Austria. In particular, we find that the project reflects the transfer of knowledge and experience across cultural, geographic and political contexts. The resulting typologies, we contend, not only represented an example of a pluralist approach to late-socialist architecture but provided models for re-thinking housing in the transition to the market economy of the post-socialist period.
This study aims to investigate the level of satisfaction of foreign tourists, specifically millennials, based on different dimensions of destination image and the quality of the tourist services in ...Belgrade, the capital of the Republic of Serbia, as an emerging destination. Despite the tarnished image attached to the city after the Yugoslav Wars and the economic crisis in the 1990s, this emerging destination is becoming more popular among foreign visitors. A sample of 359 international tourists was surveyed. Structural equation modelling was used to test the relationships between the constructs. The results confirmed the positive effects of image and quality on satisfaction as well as a positive and direct effect of image on quality. Moreover, there was a partial mediation of quality between image and satisfaction. The findings have significant marketing and management implications for destination stakeholders. They provide useful insights for choosing effective strategies and an appropriate business tourism model in emerging destinations that can further help them to become more competitive.

Seismic microzonation maps for Belgrade (Serbia) and its surroundings are presented based on the uniform-hazard-spectrum (UHS) methodology. Such mapping must satisfy the guidelines for ...performance-based design (PBD), which at present requires the specification of two sets of spectral amplitudes, one in which the structure would remain essentially linear, and one in which it would undergo nonlinear response. These requirements cannot be achieved by specifying the design spectra using only one (same) fixed spectral shape, and such spectra cannot be scaled by the peak ground acceleration alone. Another source of difficulties in the selection of the design amplitudes for PBD occurs when the standard spectrum shape is not capable of describing excitation by large, distant earthquakes. Furthermore, scaling the site dependent design ground motion only via soil site classification ignores the effects of site geology and thus leads to biased results. The maps we present in this paper avoid these shortcomings and include the effects of near and distant large earthquakes, spatial distribution of seismic activity, site geology, and site soil properties in a balanced way.
The article sets to present the historical and current developments in ethnology and anthropology of Serbia. The first part is devoted to the historical overview which portrays the development of the ...discipline from the late 19th to the early 21st century. It ends with an explanation of the use of the concept “ethnology” and “anthropology” in present-day naming of the discipline. In the second part, the most important institutions, professional societies, and anthropological journals are presented. The third part is devoted to the advancements of the University of Belgrade Department of Ethnology and Anthropology, focusing on the period since 2006, when the implementation of the Bologna Process reforms started in Serbian universities and when the significant publishing activity was invigorated. This part presents major projects, conferences and publishing activities, as well as the course curricula implemented in the 2014–2022 period by the Department at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels.
In order to examine the consumers? attitude towards eggs, 239 respondents in
the area of the City of Belgrade were surveyed, and the assessment of the
quality of eggs on the Belgrade market was done ...by examining the quality of
eggs in super/hypermarkets. In the survey, consumers expressed their views
about the place of purchase of eggs, the criteria for purchasing and the
significance of certain quality traits/properties. In the egg quality test
eggs of class A were used, and it was done on egg samples from 5
super/hypermarkets, from a total of 10 egg manufacturers. Based on the
results of the study, it was found that most egg consumers buy in
super/hypermarkets (39.62%), that the brand/manufacturer was not important
for 30.37% of the respondents, that they prefered to buy larger eggs (SS, S
and A classes). The quality of eggs is very important for 73.28% of subjects,
and the colour of the yolk prefered by the respondents was extremely yellow
(62.76%). The supply of table eggs on the market was different (from 1 to 5
manufacturers) per retail store. The quality of eggs, observed for all
super/hypermarkets and all manufacturers, expressed in Haugh units, decreased
with the shelf life of eggs. The quality of eggs from category 1 to 10 days,
in all super/hypermarkets, observed for all manufacturers, was within the
studied class A, with egg weight ranging from 60.9 to 64.1g, egg shell colour
from 3.6 to 4.2, egg cleaniness 4.4 to 5.0, the colour of the yolk (Roche)
from 10.9 to 13.2, and the number of Haugh units from 73.2 to 91.7. The
results of the research indicate that consumers in the City of Belgrade are
placing importance on the quality of table eggs, that there are differences
in the supply and freshness of the eggs between the markets, and that there
are differences in the quality within the same market, regardless of the
manufacturer.
