The monograph ('On Terminology in the European Union') focuses on the creation of the Slovene version of the terminology of the EU. The primary task of the terminology is to ensure effective ...communication. Therefore, it should be unambiguous and consistent. Multilingualism is a fundamental principle of the language regime of the EU and it is achieved through translation. Translation is also one of the most common naming procedures when creating EU terminology. Before creation of the new term it is very important to identify the content of the concept for which lawyers are certainly most qualified. The judgments of the Court of Justice of the EU are translated by lawyer-linguists, who are legal professionals with law degree in their main language. They are employed in all EU institutions, but only lawyer-linguists in the Court of Justice of the EU are responsible for translation (in their main language). The terminological analysis of the judgments in the field of EU Trade Mark translated into Slovene, shows how the terminology in those judgments has been developed and highlights the problems encountered by lawyer-linguists in translating them.
This article presents the evolution of the conditions of state aid admissibility to the coal industry, starting with legal regulations within the European Coal and Steel Community, the European ...Community, and now the European Union. The thesis was formulated that, in connection with the expiry on 31 December 2010 of Council regulation No. 1407/2002, on the basis of which the European Commission allowed aid for the national mining industry in different member states in the period before the onset of the financial and economic crisis, the immediate cause of introduction of the next regulation for mining state aid in the form of Council Decision 2010/787/EU on state aid to facilitate the closure of uncompetitive coal mines was the increasing intensity of the aid for the mining industry in recent years.

The union of the most developed European countries and their heavy industry based economies after the World War II, seemed like the only answer to USA’s and Japan’s powerful economies. At the same ...time, it was the only chance for Europe to become competitive in the global market. That was achieved through various forms of economic communities, formed in Europe in the second half of XX century. Since the 1992. Maastricht Treaty, they are known as the European Union. European Union industrial policy had the same priorities since the very beginning – to make Europe the leader of global economy, through investments in knowledge and high-tech inovation. However, that still hasn’t happened and considering all the economical and political crisis shaking the Union lately, chances are it can hardly happen at all. Reasons are numerous and different, both inside and outside the Union. The implicit question being posed here is have the most developed world countries and their economies reached their peak and can the EU achieve further growth on the supersaturated global market? This paper investigates the role of industrial policy as one of the key factors for solution to many problems in the past as well as in the future of the EU, which would make this economic and political community of European countries much more competitive on the global market.
Članek se osredotoča na geografsko izobraževanje v Sloveniji skozi prizmo evropske dimenzije in evropske identitete. Avtorica ugotavlja, koliko in kako so učne vsebine o evropski dimenziji in ...evropski identiteti prisotne v geografskih učnih načrtih. Tri raziskave, predstavljene v članku, pokrivajo obdobje 15 let in izhajajo iz treh najpomembnejših strukturnih elementov (geografskega) izobraževanja: učiteljev, učnih vsebin in učencev. Na osnovi rezultatov raziskav so predlagane možnosti za nadaljnji razvoj geografskega izobraževanja z vidika učnih vsebin, povezanih z evropsko identiteto znotraj okvirjev evropske dimenzije.

Original language summary:
Slovenija predseduje Evropski uniji: obisk predsednik evropskega parlamenta Hans Gert Pottering, sprehod po Ljubljani in pogovor.
In February 2013, the European Union successfully completed more than 30 years of negotiations and formally signed an agreement establishing a single European patent. The agreement brought about a ...more competitive patent law compared with that in the United States and Japan. The agreement resulted in a number of advantages, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, such as the reduction of costs by as much as 80%, simplification of procedures, and the adoption of the Unified Patent Court. With the new unitary patent, intellectual property will grow in importance. Yet experts warn that the new patent results in new forms of unwanted behavior, such as forum shopping and the emergence of patent trolls. This study presents both sides-the pros and cons-to predict the effects on business and cover the widest possible range of experts, providing their views on the topic.
Ključne so: zmanjšanje stroškov za kar 80 %, poenostavitev postopkov in uvedba enotnega patentnega sodišča. Intelektualna lastnina bo z enotnim patentom pridobila pomen. Toda strokovnjaki opozarjajo, da lahko novi patent povzroči nove oblike neželenega vedenja, kot sta izbira najugodnejšega sodišča (ang. forum shopping) in pojav patentnih škratov. V raziskavi želim predstaviti predvsem obe plati, prednosti in slabosti, predvideti, kakšne učinke bodo imele na poslovanje podjetij, zajeti čim širši krog strokovnjakov ter prikazati njihove poglede na tematiko.
