Morris (b. 1926) is a talented writer, but Fenwick (English, Univ. of Toronto) does not do the "traveling genius" justice. She begins her chronological treatment with Morris's early life, marriage, ...family, and travel adventures, but devotes too little space to Morris's intimate relationship, as demonstrated in her writing, with modern cities. Instead, Fenwick laboriously explains Morris's 1972 sex change from male (Morris was born James Morris) to female.
