Discharge Manifold Equipment (DME) is an output pipe from a pump that bears an essential role in a piping system in offshore oil drilling, so it is a must to assure good bears condition whenever ...used. It is not an easy thing because DME is a significant and heavy component. Also, unfavourable conditions of offshore climate can accelerate its corrosion. Storage with the modular rack uses an offshore container certified DNV 2.7-1 / EN 12079 will be designed to fulfil those needs. The storage has an important role as an element in inventory, both the storage system for assembly parts or maintenance spare parts. This storage will be design using 4 (four) phases from VDI 2221 methods, namely; task clarification, conceptual design, embodiment design, and detailed design. Hydraulic power will be added to the system to support the piston movement so that the storage rack can be moved automatically by the hydraulic system. This storage has given the best solution for a systematic storing DME in the piping system of offshore oil drilling.
Manual counting and packaging processes often involve repetitive, error-prone tasks. Specifically, packaging wooden handles, utilized in gardening tools and cutlery, typically relies on ...labor-intensive methods with dimensions varying in diameter, length and mass. These variations complicate packaging, requiring precise counting and diverse handling solutions. This article introduces an automated counting structure tailored for a wide array of wooden handles manufactured by a company in northern Portugal. Employing standardized mechanical design methodologies, we delineate crucial stages encompassing the design, development, implementation and testing of this specialized counting equipment. The machine has been partially integrated into the management system of the company, taking into account future global integration according to the Industry 4.0 concept.
Seduh Kopi Coffee Shop is a coffee shop which has its own roasting machine with 2-kilogram capacity for roasting process. The reason of designing this roasting machine because of the expensive price ...of new machine in the market with small capacity (400 gram) for roasting process. Benchmarking activities needed for comparing the previous machines in the market before designing this roasting machine utilize the VDI 2221 method. This roasting machine consist of important component such as overall frame which is made from 50 x 35 Unp Iron and has function as an engine mount, roasting machine tube which is made from 2 mm stainless steel plates, The axis for spinning process is made from hss or solid round Iron, Tube Cover, input and output machine for coffee roasting are also made of Stainless Steel plates. The prime mover of this coffee roasting machine utilizes AC 220 V motor which function as prime mover connecting with Sprocket-Chain and Vbelt-Pulley.
In the present study, a design method based on the VDI 2221 guideline was applied for the improvement of the biomass feeding system of the bubbling fluidized bed gasifier installed at Universidad de ...Piura. The application of the method focused on the conceptual design phase. The modifications proposed seek to guarantee a continuous and dosed biomass input to the reactor. The new design for the biomass feeding system consists of a screw feeder, a hopper and a rotary valve that doses the biomass according to its rotational speed. The biomass is pushed by the screw feeder to fall through inclined gravity chute and enter the reactor. Functional tests were carried out with coffee husk and bagasse. The improved feeding system presents fewer clogging problems than the initial state and test results are shown in plots relating the system feed rate as a function of rotary valve rotational speed.
In recent decades, the interest and demand for maca (Lepidium meyenii) have grown worldwide, establishing the tuber as one of Peru's flagship products, so adding value to it without losing its ...nutritional properties is a viable option to further increase its production and sale. Therefore, the most efficient process to consider is freeze-drying, which allows for preserving most of the organoleptic and nutritional properties of the food over time. The objective of this work is to design a compact and easy-to-use machine, which allows generating an added value to maca through freeze-drying. For this purpose, the VDI 2221 methodology was used, where a list of requirements was considered according to the structure of the freeze-dryer, a black box, and a white box, which led to making the morphological matrix from which the optimal 3D prototype was obtained. The result of this design showed that the machine provides 1 kg/batch of production and that the structure supported the size of the freeze dryer with a maximum deformation of 0.004491 mm, on the other hand, the part of the structure that supported the vacuum pump was prone to breakage. This research concludes that the use of the VDI 2221 methodology has the potential to structure the important functions and components for machine design, but another methodology is needed to help organize the processes systematically.
This research develops the design phase of an automated system which can reduce the effects of frost, as this causes many negative effects in the high Andean communities of Peru, destroying crops and ...thus generating large economic losses, so the main objective is to develop an automated system of camellones against the effects of extreme weather event of frost to reduce crop losses. In the proposed methodology of the study was conducted in a field crop in a rural location in the highlands, the methodology of the VDI 2221 will be presented for the electronic design based on Arduino Uno, temperature sensors and control of two solenoid valves; as well as the mechanical design of the gates containing the valves and the camellones for the field crop that is able to maintain a constant flow and volume of water. The results obtained are a schematic design of the circuit, as well as a 3D modeling of the gates and camellones; also, through calculations the estimation of the amount of incoming and outgoing flow of water controlled by the valve, the amount of heat absorbed and released by the mass of water in the system is obtained. The design of the system of the camellones related to flow control, capacity and thermal conductivity is also feasible to execute because it is adapted to the conventional irrigation systems of the rural locality of study.
