This study examined government policies in the distribution of Cash Social Assistence (BST) in the new normal era of the covid-19 pandemic. Research location in Darul Aman District of East Aceh ...Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach, data collection is done through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study found that government policies in the distribution of BST social assistance to the poor in the new normal era of the Covid-19 pandemic were in fact middle-class economic communities. Although they are affected by Covid-19, many poor families affected by Covid-19 do not get BST social assistance. In the new normal era, the Government of Indonesia re-opened public spaces for community activities in the hope that the wheels of the people's economy returned to normal, but people's dependence on social assistance actually increased and the community continued to rely on social assistance from the government. Thus the community does not seek to develop itself in order to improve the family economy.
The welfare regime in Turkey has been undergoing a radical transformation since the early 2000s. Welfare provisions, especially poverty alleviation schemes, are increasingly framed as gifts, and ...select civil society organisations have assumed the state’s welfare provision functions through non-transparent public funding. Waqf, the Islamic institution of endowment, has played an important role in this transformation. It provides both the institutional frame of operations and the religious imaginary signification that interpellates subjects to take part as givers and receivers of gifts. This material exchange of care and money through newly configured gift-relations between the providers and beneficiaries constitutes not only a realm of politics but also a site of ethical negotiations with embodied consequences. This book is based on an extensive ethnographic study conducted between 2008-2009 among the charitable organizations of Kayseri, a central Anatolian city with booming industry and a majority conservative political orientation. A stronghold of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which has been in power in Turkey since 2002, the city has showcased the tenets of the welfare transformation that is to come, even in the early stages of AKP rule. With a focus on the daily practices within the field of beneficence, the book investigates the gift circuits that bring together central state institutions, municipalities, local notables and business people, religious groups, volunteers and employers of charitable organisations, and the urban poor. In these gift circuits, objects, money, services, prayers, recognition, and political and social influence flow in various directions through formal and informal routes. The book illustrates the growing significance of these particular forms of gift-giving in the field of poverty alleviation and welfare provision in Turkey and their role in the drastic political transformation of the country. ; The welfare regime in Turkey has been undergoing a radical transformation since the early 2000s. The sanitary measure of social isolation – preventive and obligatory, decreed by the Argentine State due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, brought about changes in the ways of operating of state ...agents and those who work in Indigenous and migrant organizations. This article analyzes the changes in the circumstances imposed by the new context, the displacements and pauses that occurred in the Provincial Council of Indigenous Affairs of the Province of Buenos Aires, and the work of an intermediary engaged in social activism with civil associations of migrants in Greater La Plata. In order to document these changes, the text is based on an ethnography, based on observations and interviews, and on the analysis of documents found in state offices and digital platforms. As a result of fieldwork, interdependencies and tensions between redistributive and recognition public policies aimed at migrant and Indigenous organizations have been identified. We observed that strategies and policies aimed at recognition were attenuated by the need to respond to the pressing health situation and the impossibility of accessing public space during the pandemic.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to learn how mothers interpret and explain the death of a newborn child. The study used a qualitative approach. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 15 women in São Luís, Maranhão State, Brazil, whose newborn infants died between July 2012 and July 2014. Data were collected from April 1st to August 29th, 2014. The interviews included questions on labor, delivery, birth, and postpartum. Thematic content analysis was performed. The mothers’ testimony evidenced weaknesses in the network of care. Many of the mothers linked the care they received to events leading to their infants’ death. Core meanings identified by the analysis included slow and negligent care in the maternity hospital, revealing a context of obstetric violence against the women. There is an evident need to create strategies to promote humane care during labor and childbirth, strengthening comprehensive and integrated public policies to meet the demands for care for pregnant women and their infants.
Known for his original and courageous thinking on matters ranging from the treatment of animals to genetic screening, Peter Singer now turns his attention to the ethical issues surrounding ...globalization. In this provocative book, he challenges us to think beyond the boundaries of nation-states and consider what a global ethic could mean in today's world. Singer raises novel questions about such an ethic and, more important, he provides illuminating and practical answers. The book encompasses four main global issues: climate change, the role of the World Trade Organization, human rights and humanitarian intervention, and foreign aid. Singer addresses each vital issue from an ethical perspective and offers alternatives to the state-centric approach that characterizes international theory and relations today. Posing a bold challenge to narrow or nationalistic views, Singer presents a realistic, new way of looking at contemporary global issues-through a prism of ethics.
To learn about the perceptions of the professionals who work in Primary Health Care about mental health care.
Descriptive and qualitative study, carried out with 29 health workers through open and ...individual interviews. The IRaMuTeQ® software was used to organize the data which, then, was submitted to a content analysis process in the thematic modality.
Three classes emerged from the content analysis: "Perceptions about the mental health care provided in the city", "The biomedical paradigm in mental healthcare", and "Elements for the construction of a new way for professionals to act in mental health".
It was found that, despite the good infrastructure of the services and the elements pointed at by the professionals to create a new way to act, they do not do so, and the responsibility falls, mostly, on the psychologist to carry out these activities.
Abstract The present article aims to analyze the changes in supplementary health and their effects on the adherence to and maintenance within health plans of the elderly, to demonstrate the current ...state of the care model offered, and to begin the debate regarding the importance of changing care models and remuneration in the sector. It was observed that turnover in health plans was lower among the elderly than among the non-elderly population, with greater adherence to individual and pre-regulation plans and a very low adherence to dental plans. The elderly were also more representative over the previous year, demonstrating a greater need for permanence in times of economic crisis. Care and cost data point to the urgent need to reformulate the care practice, supported by structures that are practically non-existent in Brazilian supplemental health care today and are not funded in the sector (such as palliative care and care management physicians, among others).
