The purpose of this study is to analyse the business performance, i.e. business efficiency of the New York Times in the process of its digital transformation. The main methodology used in this study ...is the regression analysis. This research focuses on the financial efficiency of the New York Times in combination with the trend of the number of users. On one hand, the financial stability of the business is investigated, and on the other, the transformation and trend of the number of users are analysed. The comparison of the research results is aimed at answering research questions in the context of the impact of digital transformation on the business efficiency of a corporation. The findings serve as the basis for decision-making in the process of digital transformation of the analysed corporation, and the model can also be used by other players in the media industry (or any other industry) in the process of their digital transformation. Furthermore, this study argues the benefits from the digital transformation of a business and the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on the acceleration of the digital transformation processes in organizations across the globe.

Marketing ...research provides solid bases for foundation of good and efficient management moment, as an assumption of good market position. Based on determined goals and research objects, using qualitative methods of marketing research, the goal is the establishment of functional model of business efficiency. Another aim is to establish efficient communication model for interested parts, on relation service provider (enterprise), retailer, buyer and consumer in agro industrial products commerce within special market institutions (wholesale markets).
The main objective of this paper was to analyse the performance and efficiency development of the Slovakia's spa sector over the years 2013 - 2017 by applying the selected modern methods of business ...performance evaluation - the Economic Value Added, the Return On Net Assets, the Creditworthy Model, the Simplex Linear Programming Method and examine whether the application of these modern models provides an identical view of the financial performance of the sector surveyed. The intention of the paper was also to reveal statistically significant interconnections between the key EVA indicator and other modern methods. In the case of confirmation of a strong correlation we focused on evaluation the degree of identity with the results of above-mentioned applied methods. Despite the fact that these models evaluate performance on the basis of different input data and indicators, year 2015 was identically identified as the best-performing one, vice-versa, the worst financial performance of enterprises was recorded in 2016 within the application of all methods. At the significance level of p < 0.05, a statistically significant correlation between all pairs of the analysed methods was revealed. However, the strongest positive correlation with the Economic Value Added was confirmed in the case of Simplex Method of Linear Programming (t= 0.536842). This result was also confirmed by the identical assessment of the performance and efficiency development in individual years. Results of the study pointed to close interconnection between the dimension of performance (the EVA indicator) and efficiency (the Simplex Method of Linear Programming), which will be integrated into a new designed Enterprise Performance Model (EPM).
The paper addresses the impact of efficiency and results of solutions applied to transport goods on business efficiency indicators and their relation with the consequences of violating road traffic ...regulations, work and rest schedule of vehicle crews, weight and dimension restrictions imposed on trucks. The degree of dissociation between adopted systems to evaluate solutions is analyzed for various participants through the whole supply chain. As a result, a conflict of interests is found between businessmen owning goods, transport companies, consumers, and the society. The basic requirements to logistics in the form of three goals (faster, cheaper, better) develop behavioral models and patterns to take decisions leading to unsafe situations on roads and violations of various requirements to transportation. Following interests of businessmen assessing efficiency using criteria of ROA (return on assets) and the value for business owners results in similar decisions. The paper describes a model of developing ROA elements that are affected by criteria for making decisions during goods transportation and decisions provoking violation of various rules and requirements. This model can provide a basis for a quantitative analysis of the factors’ impact on logistics costs and on the value of assets. Model development options depend on the selected method of economic analysis. This model allows revealing primary causes for road accidents, based on reaching the goals to be met through decisions in logistics and goals underlying business efficiency. The approach can also be used in determining trends in motivation of transport operators in observing the requirements and improving transport laws.
Performance evaluation can be a challenge for a hotel firm with just a few business units. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is one way to analyze each unit’s relative use of inputs and its relative ...production of outputs. To address the small sample size, DEA can apply slack analysis, which essentially compares each hotel’s inputs to the group’s mean and identifies where the slack—the extra input—occurs. Likewise, the analysis can identify the slack in terms of under-average outputs. A further approach is to use dual analysis, which accounts for the fact that variables have more than one facet. This DEA approach obtains specific factor targets on which the managers of the inefficient units can focus to improve their performance. As an illustration of this technique, the study evaluates the efficiency of a seven-unit Taiwanese hotel chain and highlights the slack in the less-efficient hotels’ operation. Thus, DEA with slack analysis can both evaluate current operations and provide goals for future improvement.
The most important aspect of any business is efficiency. The goal is to achieve greater outputs with lower inputs or to use the available inputs to the maximum. In this paper, the use of DEA ...technique will be illustrated in case of measuring operation efficiency of the banking sector in Serbia, which currently has 33 banks. The efficiency of banks will be measured using two models with different input-output indicators followed by a comparative analysis of the results using the BCG matrix. Banks are ranked according to their efficiency, and the similarities and differences that were observed in the study were commented.
In this paper, we propose a national competitiveness index using raw Institute of Management Development (IMD) data and try to overcome a shortcoming in the IMD's own ranking system. The IMD world ...competitiveness ranking considers 20 factors to define an index, but it does not consider the structural relationships among various factors. We utilise a structural equation model to derive a national competitiveness index that reflects such structural relationships. We then reveal new rankings of world competitiveness. In addition, we conducted a comparison analysis by economy level and identified improvement points in terms of measurement variables as well as latent variables. Our work is expected to promote a new era of national competitiveness rankings and indices.
