Les adverbes bougrement et bigrement sont deux adverbes intensifs en -ment appartenant au registre familier. On les emploie généralement pour exprimer le haut degré. Toutefois, nous avons relevé ...certains emplois qui montrent que bougrement et bigrement peuvent aussi, dans certains contextes, s'apparenter à des adverbes de complétude (notamment complètement) ou à des adverbes d'extension qualitative (notamment vraiment).
The use of marks to show the presence of colloquial lexicon in dictionaries is not without controversy. In recent decades, numerous studies have appeared that demonstrate the importance of unifying ...criteria to avoid confusion and ambiguities among users. While this may be relevant for any dictionary, it becomes imperative for didactic dictionaries that undoubtedly require greater systematization and clarity. In this research, the treatment of colloquialisms in two lexicographical works of this type, Diccionario del estudiante (DE) and Diccionario para la ensenanza de la lengua espanola (DIPELE), are contrasted and analysed to know the criteria that are used from the lexicographical and lexicological points of view.

Decembrio's model was Suetonius's Lives of the Caesars, whose translation into the vernacular he supervised as part of a general Milanese cultural project that was designed to praise a political ...system that was based on strong leadership provided by an exceptional individual. The Deeds was part of his effort to get into the good graces of the Milanese leader, which he hoped to do before Filelfo's officially sanctioned biographical history was finished, but Decembrio's work was not well received and the desired biography was ultimately produced by Giovanni Simonetta, who had access to the internal documents that Decembrio did not. ...these two volumes meet the same high standards as the eighty-six that preceded them.
ABSTRACT
This article argues that the vernacular of development, as deployed in and about African communities, is a racial vernacular. It is a racial vernacular of development because it is deployed ...within, in this case, the resource extraction industry (as well as within the broader development enterprise) in ways that sustain racial thought, index particular racial meanings, and prescribe social practices. How do we understand the processes through which racial codes are embedded and naturalized in practices ranging from the management and bureaucracy of resource extractions to the power structure of the world system that places African sovereignty below Western nongovernmental organizations and corporations? The development complex incorporates the unequal material relationships and processes that structure engagement between the Global South and the Global North, and its racial vernacular is the primary discursive scaffolding for these relationships. development, race, resource extraction, Ghana
The article considers the alternation of letters a and o in the stem, missing in school and academic grammars, for example, shpargalka — shpora, boshka — boshki, simpatichnyj — simpotnyj, platit’ — ...plotit, nalit’ — nolito. We attempt to combine a number of heterogeneous (including unique) phenomena within the framework of a special alternation, and more specifically, the transition from a to o in an uncodified area of the language: in professional and youth jargons, popular language, emphatically colloquial speech. Thus, one can speak of relatively regular alternations of a and o at the junction of literary and non-literary language. The letter o conveys the phoneme o, which appears under stress in not quite normative or informal word forms and words (colloquial, slang, etc.), that is, it emphasizes this informality of a word and often also its expressiveness.
I investigate the interpretation of the associative plural tó/dó in Colloquial Burmese based on original fieldwork. I report that in a conjunction of associative plurals, there is an available ...reading where the named individuals in the conjunction internally satisfy the plural requirement. I call this the internal plural reading, a reading which has not been previously observed in the literature. I propose that the named individuals in a conjunction of associative plurals can satisfy each other's plural requirement if the Burmese associative plural has a meaning that ixs post-suppositional. The proposal is inspired by Brasoveanu & Szabolcsi 2013's treatment of conjunctions of additive phrases in some languages, but our proposals crucially differ in that associative plurals contribute assertive meaning rather than not-at-issue meaning.
The present issue contains a diplomatic edition of the Cyrillic manuscript book known as the Manuscript of Kliment Bukovsky. The edition is prefaced by an article with a manuscript edition. Kliment ...Bukovsky's Manuscript is located in the archive of the Uzhhorod State Library and is connected with the Slovak linguistic-cultural horizon. The handwritten book was used in the monastery on Bukovâ hôrka, as evidenced by the ex-libris and marginalia. As with other documents of Eastern Slovak provenance, the use of the Gospel pericopes in vernacular language is characteristic of this manuscript. In addition to the Gospel readings and commentaries on them, Kliment Bukovsky's manuscript also contains texts common to collections for vernacular reading, such as overview on Old Testament kings and Roman emperors, a retelling of a legend from the Gesta Romanorum, and an apocryphal legend of Christ's birth.
Rachel Jeantel was the leading prosecution witness when George Zimmerman was tried for killing Trayvon Martin, but she spoke in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and her crucial testimony ...was dismissed as incomprehensible and not credible. The disregard for her speech in court and the media is familiar to vernacular speakers and puts Linguistics itself on trial: following Saussure, how do we dispel such 'prejudices' and 'fictions'? We show that Jeantel speaks a highly systematic AAVE, with possible Caribbean influence. We also discuss voice quality and other factors that bedeviled her testimony, including dialect unfamiliarity and institutionalized racism. Finally, we suggest strategies for linguists to help vernacular speakers be better heard in courtrooms and beyond.
