Job crafting has been shown to be associated with multiple positive work‐related outcomes. However, whether and how it affects nonwork‐related outcomes has been less examined. Grounded on the ...resource–gain–development perspective and conservation of resources theory, the present study investigated the effects of job crafting on employee life satisfaction via work–nonwork facilitation and work–nonwork conflict. Further, the present study examined the moderating roles of workload on these relationships. We collected two waves of data with a 1‐month lag from 481 fulltime Chinese employees. The results of regression analyses revealed that job crafting was positively related to employee life satisfaction through higher work–nonwork facilitation and lower work–nonwork conflict. In addition, these indirect effects were stronger for employees with higher workload than those with lower workload. The results extend job crafting research by examining the effects of job crafting on employee life satisfaction and have clear applied value for employers who have high workload.
Objective: An association between childhood trauma and adult health outcomes has been widely reported, but little is known about the developmental pathways through which childhood trauma influences ...adult cardiovascular disease (CVD). Method: Hypotheses were tested with a sample of 405 African Americans from the Family and Community Health Study (FACHS). Path modeling was used to test our theoretical model. Results: Replicating prior research, exposure to childhood trauma was associated positively with increases in symptoms of CVD risk across young adulthood even after controlling for a variety of health-related and health behavior covariates. Further, the association of childhood trauma with CVD risk was mediated by early pubertal maturation. There were no gender differences in the magnitude of this effect. Conclusion: Our findings support an evolutionary-development perspective (Belsky & Shalev, 2016) suggesting that early adverse life experiences lead to early biologically embedded changes reflected in early physical maturation and that these early changes predict later negative adult health outcomes. The results imply that early pubertal maturation is a precursor to vulnerability to long term health problems. From an intervention standpoint, identifying such developmental pathways may help inform future health-promoting interventions.
In recent years, many regions that are rich in natural resources have fallen behind other countries that have fewer natural resources in terms of economic growth. This study examines the role of ...resource rents on national income of Arab world over the period of 1989–2021. We use mineral and oil rents to capture the resource rents. In order to determine the long-term effects of resource rents on the national income of the Arab world, this study employs the econometric methods of DOLS and FMOLS. In addition to that, the FMOLS approach, which is an asymptotically unbiased and effective estimator, is utilized throughout this study. These approaches can help to address some of the issues that arise in the analysis of time series data, is used in this study to control for endogeneity as well as serial correlation. We find that oil rents are harmful for economic growth, which approves the resource curse phenomena in case of Arab world. The abundance of natural resources in the Arab world could persuade its officials to spend more money on consumption and less on investments in physical capital, which would be detrimental to economic progress. Moreover, reliance on natural resources can lead to a scenario known as the Dutch Disease.
•Resources curse hypothesis is evaluated in case of oil rich economies.•The study employed novel time series estimation techniques.•Resources curse hypothesis phenomena exist for Arab World.•Sustainable development perspective inevitable with taking care of real sector.
Many 'non-professional' and 'non-certified' social workers seem to conduct indigenous social work practices in low- and middle-income countries in Asia. From the perspective of international ...developmental social work, this case study explores the education and training opportunities for local and indigenous social workers in disability related fields. The data was mainly obtained through field work and practice conducted by the author, whose positionality was considered an international social worker in Sri Lanka and Mongolia. The field data was supplemented by literature. The findings reveal that some local workers in government and non-government sectors, who might not have received professional social work education, engage in practices that can be considered a part of social work using their indigenous and local knowledge and skills. In some cases, these workers also use their knowledge of international concepts and frameworks. Additionally, this study presents some instances of knowledge exchange between domestic and international stakeholders through dialogue-based practices and training in the field. The findings suggest that international social workers are required to explore reflective practice and collaborative knowledge creation with domestic stakeholders, including indigenous social workers and disabled people, through dialogue in the field.
Innovation is increasingly becoming the most crucial and effective way to tackle climate change and environmental pollution. Recently, innovation quality has received continuous attention from ...scholars, entrepreneurs and policymakers. It is necessary to measure innovation quality from the perspective of green development. Based on the statistics data of 30 provincial-level innovation systems in China, this study comprehensively evaluates regional innovation quality and identifies the configuration of factors which could lead to high regional innovation quality. Firstly, this study establishes an indicator system of measuring regional innovation quality which includes seven indicators from three aspects of technological, economic and ecological benefit of innovative activities, and entropy weight method is used to comprehensively evaluate regional innovation quality. The result reveals there are big differences between different regions in China in innovation quality. In terms of three economic regions in China, innovation quality in the eastern region is the highest, followed by the central region and the lowest in the western region. Then, fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis method is applied, which uncovers three configurations of factors that could lead to high regional innovation quality. Finally, the conclusion of this study provides policy pathways for improving regional innovation quality.
Abstract
This article examines the influence of different economic rationales in the Dominican Republic’s science, technology, and innovation (STI) policies from a context-development perspective. ...For this purpose, four STI policy frameworks are reviewed: the National Competitiveness Plan; the Strategic Plan of Science, Technology, and Innovation; the Ten-year Plan of Higher Education; and the National Development Strategy 2030. Three cycles of STI policies are covered: the industrialization and import substitution cycle; the structural adjustment cycle; and the post-structural adjustment cycle. Five economic rationales are considered: neoclassical, Schumpeterian growth, neo-Marshallian, systemic–institutional, and evolutionary thought. Based on the results, three rationales prevail a systemic–institutional approach; a neo-Marshallian perspective; and a Schumpeterian growth approach. These rationales may refer to the country’s challenges to spur its potential for economic growth and development.
This research seeks to further effective leadership development by contributing to the literature on developing a comprehensive theory of leadership development. More specifically, this article ...builds on research on a philosophy of adult learning perspective of leadership development. The research question explores the utility of the humanistic philosophy of adult learning (HPAL) as a principal philosophy for leadership development. The research question is operationalized by contemporizing Scholtz’s (2023) Maslow, Rogers, and Knowles based taxonomy of the humanistic philosophy of adult learning before evaluating its scope against that of best-practice leadership development models. An integrative literature review-based search of contemporary HPAL-based articles on leadership development revealed 1,084 articles. The 48 final dataset articles are categorized, and their theories and concepts are integrated into the taxonomy’s metaconcepts to contemporize the HPAL. The evaluation of the scope of the HPAL against four best practice models explores the utility of the HPAL. The discussion explores the implications of the HPAL’s utility for designing and implementing leadership development programs, identifies the limitations of this research, and recommends future research projects. The proposition is that these evaluations illustrate the utility of the HPAL in both the design and the implementation of effective leadership development interventions.

Green technology innovation meets the dual expectation of innovative development and green development perspectives. Under the canonical demand-pull and policy-push theories, a long-term mechanism ...for green technology innovation could be formed through upstream policy push and downstream demand-pull. Leveraging China's regional carbon emission trading scheme pilots as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper examines the policy-push and demand-pull effects on innovation in renewable energy patents. The data pertain to the city-level renewable energy patents from 2000 to 2020. Based upon the triple difference-in-difference method, results suggest that both policy-push and demand-pull factors exert positive effects on innovation. This paper further explores the practical and theoretical implications of green technology innovation under the new development perspective.
