The purpose of this study was to explore the adaptations that schools made to physical activity programs and facilities, and disparities by area urbanicity and income, during the first school year ...after the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a convenience sample of 132 secondary schools in Canada, school contacts responded to an annual survey in the 2020–2021 school year on changes to physical activity programs and facilities, and related staff training. Content analysis categorized open-ended text responses, and schools were compared based on area urbanicity and median income. Most schools canceled all interschool sports (88.9%) and intramurals (65.9%). New programs were added by 12.6% of schools, and about half (49%) of schools reported some continuing programs, most of which were sports programs, followed by facility and equipment access. Physical activity facilities were closed in 18.1% of schools, while 15.7% had new facilities added, and 11% temporarily converted facilities into learning spaces. Large/medium urban schools were at greater odds of having made any change to their facilities compared to schools in rural/small urban areas (odds ratio (95% confidence interval): 2.3 (1.1, 4.8)). The results demonstrate the considerable scale and nature of the restrictions in school provisions of physical activity opportunities during this period, as well as the resourcefulness of some schools in adding new programs and facilities.
Distance learning in the modern world is becoming an important form of education regardless of the location of the educational institution and the physical capabilities of the student. The relevance ...of the research is determined by the need to obtain new theoretical knowledge about the psychological and pedagogical foundations of distance learning in order to improve it and increase its effectiveness in the conditions of the pandemic and exit from it. The purpose is to analyse the psychological and pedagogical foundations of learning using distance technologies exemplified by the Pedagogical Class of the Saratov State University. The article defines the main characteristics of distance learning and learning using distance technologies. The authors define the specificity of these forms of learning as derived from the convergence of campus and distance learning. The research investigates the case study of the Pedagogical Class in order to establish the main psychological and pedagogical foundations and effects of learning with the use of distance technologies. The article highlights the main values and principles of distance learning: the value of general accessibility – the principle of openness; the value of personal development and individualistic orientation of all the content – the principle of a scientific approach, the principle unifying academic knowledge and accessibility; the value of a direct contact between subjects of education – the principle of an open dialogue, which is implemented through different communication channels; the values of university education and traditional culture – the principle of personal development, academic socialization of personality. The authors make a conclusion about the potential of using distance learning technologies to achieve acme in education.
Gamification is a growing trend that has the potential to improve user's motivation and performance in e-learning. However, it is still heavily debated as there is an ongoing discussion within the ...gamification community whether individual gamification elements may actually weaken or improve intrinsic motivation and performance. To date, research on individual gamification elements is still yet underexplored making it difficult to understand whether individual gamification elements may prove beneficial or harmful to user's intrinsic motivation and performance. Therefore, this concept paper is intended to explore the effects of three commonly employed game elements namely points, leaderboard, and badges on intrinsic motivations and performances in a flow experience perspective. It is to hope that through this study, a clear understanding of individual gamification elements can be achieved and more in-depth work can be done in the future.
Conhecer o perfil dos discentes que participam dos cursos ofertados pela UEPG é importante para compreensão do perfil do aluno de acordo com a modalidade de ensino ofertada. A partir das ...características levantadas é possível um planejamento de trabalho que atenda as dificuldades específicas de cada grupo. O estudo contemplou duas modalidades de ensino: presencial e educação à distância (EAD) com cursos ligados ao departamento de Administração. O objetivo deste artigo é comparar o perfil dos discentes nas duas modalidades de ensino disponibilizadas pela UEPG, que estão vinculados ao departamento de Administração, identificando o perfil dos discentes EAD e presencial, analisando quais aspectos são comuns a cada perfil pesquisado e diferenciando aspectos que possam ser predominantes a uma determinada modalidade de ensino. Este estudo, enquadra-se nos seguintes métodos de pesquisa: qualitativa, de natureza aplicada, quanto aos objetivos sendo exploratória e descritiva, e quanto aos procedimentos foi realizado um levantamento. Utilizou-se um questionário composto por 21 perguntas, adaptado de Foguel et al (2015), sendo dividido em quatro partes: identificação dos respondentes, aspectos sociais e econômicos, aspectos acadêmicos e por fim aspectos profissionais. Conclui-se que para cada modalidade de ensino existe uma diferença de perfil nas características básicas, como idade, situação profissional, atividades de lazer, entre outras, porém em temas ligados a motivação e percepção de características desejáveis a um profissional as respostas enviadas são muito parecidas, divergindo apenas no nível de importância de cada uma.
O conhecimento é o principal elemento da evolução da sociedade civil, seja na esfera pessoal ou organizacional. É nesta perspectiva que esta investigação se insere, possuindo como objetivo geral ...mensurar a gestão do conhecimento na UNEAD durante o trabalho remoto. Em relação ao percurso metodológico, trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva de abordagem quantitativa, realizada na Unidade Acadêmica de Educação a Distância (Unead) da Universidade do Estado da Bahia (Uneb). No que se refere aos procedimentos, partiu-se de uma revisão da literatura sobre a temática central deste estudo, optando-se pela utilização de uma escala multifatorial quantitativa desenvolvida e validada por Pais (2014): Escala de Gestão do Conhecimento (EGC), estruturada como questionário eletrônico no Google Forms, como instrumento de coleta de dados. Os dados coletados foram analisados através da estatística descritiva, utilizando para tabulação e cálculos das médias de cada fator da escala, o aplicativo Excel. Cabe destacar que o uso da estatística, neste caso, não tem a intenção de generalizar os resultados e fazer inferências, isto porque, a amostra não é probabilística. Os resultados apontam que os respondentes atribuem valor ao conhecimento no sentido de otimizar o desempenho organizacional e a responsabilidade em cumprir suas funções.
The article substantiates the relevance of the need to create an online platform for distance learning, which allows to support students with special educational needs. The problematic issues voiced ...by school teachers during the transition to distance learning during the period of the threat of the spread of a new infection in the Russian Federation are presented. The main documents on the basis of which the children of this group receive education in schools, including the use of distance technologies, are named. The educational online resources recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation are analyzed in order to identify the material necessary for the psychological and pedagogical support of children with specific educational needs. Examples of various sites and Internet portals used by teachers and psychologists are given. The article implements the developed and tested educational standards of primary general education for students with disabilities, which allow each student with different starting opportunities to create conditions for success in obtaining an education.
