V prispevku smo opredelili prevladujoča karierna sidra gospodarjev na slovenskih tržno usmerjenih kmetijah. Prevladujeta sidri varnosti in stabilnosti ter sidro življenjskega sloga, kar kaže, da ...gospodarji še vedno želijo stabilno, varno in predvidljivo delovno okolje ter samostojnost in prožnost pri organizaciji svojega dela. Stopnja izraženosti kariernih sider opozarja na pomanjkanje upravljavskih sposobnosti kmetov in skromno prisotnost kariernega sidra izziva. Razvoj kmetijstva in velika konkurenčnost znotraj panoge od kmeta zahtevata neprestano premagovanje in reševanje izzivov, iskanje novih priložnosti in odgovorno vodenje kmetije.
Terraced landscapes with agricultural terraces are cultural landscapes with a special value. This volume presents them in pictures and words in all their diversity and attractiveness. After ...discussing the global and European dimensions of terraced landscapes and their agricultural terraces, the volume focuses on Slovenian terraced landscapes~they are discussed separately by landscape types, individual regions, and sample cases in the territory of selected settlements (pilot areas). The conclusion also draws attention to the exceptional value and appeal of non-agricultural terraced landscapes that have been shaped by nature and man.

For the past half century, military dictatorship has left Burma (Myanmar), dubbed the Land of a Thousand Pagodas, practically completely isolated from the outside world. In addition to Buddhism, the ...predominant religion, this is also one of the reasons why its people have remained simple, open-hearted, and hospitable. There are more than 135 different ethnic groups living in Burma. Because of the country’s diverse natural resources, it already attracted the attention of the global superpowers in the past, manifested in sixty years of British colonialism. It continues to be of interest today, especially because of its extensive supplies of natural gas, oil, gems, precious and rare metals, and valuable teakwood.Exceptionally picturesque Burma is also characterized by great biodiversity. The country is renowned for its elephants, many of which have been tamed. Rare white (albino) elephants are the most admired.The recommended ten-day tour first takes you to Burma’s largest city, Yangon, after which you continue your trip across the Irrawaddy Valley to the city of Bagan with its thousands of temples, and on to the country’s cultural center of Mandalay. Just before that you can climb Mount Popa, a dormant volcano, the mysterious abode of spirits known as the nats. You continue your trip onto the Shan Plateau to enjoy the peaceful flow of life at Lake Inle. If you have enough time, it is also worth visiting one of the seaside resorts.
Selected Examples of Managing Cultural Heritage AreasCultural heritage can make an important contribution to development, especially if it is conscientiously managed and if one is aware of all of its ...development potentials. Attention was drawn to this in the CHERPLAN project with the volumes Upravljanje območij s kulturno dediščino (Managing Cultural Heritage Areas) and Managing Cultural Heritage Sites in Southeastern Europe~these two related books are now complemented by a third volume that discusses selected examples of managing cultural heritage areas. Because the project was intended to promote the development of areas in southeast Europe, we first present heritage from this area on the UNESCO World Heritage List, then various systems of protecting cultural heritage, followed by intergovernmental efforts to protect cultural heritage in southeast Europe. Regarding the content, we addressed the multifunctional role of cultural heritage, and due to specific circumstances in the past two decades we have also highlighted the damage caused to cultural heritage by military conflicts. The following individual examples of cultural heritage management are discussed: Kotor, Gamzigrad, the Stari Grad Plain, Ohrid, the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, Lake Neusiedl, and the Semmering Railway, and outside the southeast Europe program area also Bilbao and the Rhaetian Railway.
Creativity is gaining in its importance within the knowledge society. Studying these complex dimensions and their long-term consequences for the economic and social progress was the object of ...abundant social studies n the past. But the transformation of the landscape due to creative influences, as one of the most important factors regarding structural changes in modern society, is not well represented in Slovenian geographical literature. The booklet at hand is the first attempt of establishing some geographical–developmental factors, which are encouraged by various forms of creative human activities. The geographical dispersion of human potentials is one of the key generators of creativity and social development. Some important socio–economic effects and regional disparities in the region are also in correlation with the aforementioned factors. We will try to explain some of them within a critical research view and within the form of the available space and on the other hand also show some new dimensions of social geography as a way of challenging future detailed discussions.

The concept of heritage relates to the ways in which contemporary society uses the past as a social, political or economic resource. However, heritage is open to interpretation and its value may be ...perceived from differing perspectives - often reflecting divisions in society. Moreover, the schism between the cultural and economic uses of heritage also gives rise to potential conflicts of interest.
Examining these issues in depth, this book is the first sustained attempt to integrate the study of heritage into contemporary human geography. It is structured around three themes: the diversity of use and consumption of heritage as a multi-sold cultural and economic resource; the conflicts and tensions arising from this multiplicity of uses, producers and consumers; and the relationship between heritage and identity at a variety of scales.
