In recent years self-translation has attracted growing scholarly attention within both translation and cultural studies, both because its peculiarities oblige us to rethink the traditional ...dichotomies of translation proper and because, in cultural terms, it is a condition shared by an ever-growing number of migrant, translingual individuals. By combining elements from both theoretical frameworks, this essay analyzes the works of three Italian-Canadian female writers/self-translators for whom self-translation is both a tool for expressing a translingual imagination and renegotiating a transcultural identity, as well as a subversive transcreative practice through which to convey their gender politics.
80ko hamarkadatik aurrera, euskal literatur kritikan eta ikerketan feminismotik egindako ekarpenak agertzen hasi ziren. Joera horren analisia hiru argitalpenen bitartez egin dugu: Itxaro Bordaren ...Hogoigarren mendeko emakumeak idazle: antologia eta ohar zenbait (1984), Jakin aldizkariko Emakumea eta literatura alea (1987) eta Linda Whiteren Emakumeen hitzak euskaraz: Basque Women Writers of the Twentieth Century tesia (1996). Through interviews with twelve contemporary female writers, this paper characterizes the working conditions and gender relations in the current literary field in Chile. The analysis of the interviews ...allows to delve into the documented trend of precariousness and moonlighting in the literary work, adding that this is done mostly in the university teaching area and literary workshops, in the case of female writers. Also, the time management emerges as an important element, which determines the forms of work in literature. Regarding gender relations, the interviewees observe differences in remuneration in favor of men, and a historical masculinization of the literary canon. To this is added an inequality in the awarding of prizes and funds, given mostly to men.
This article explores how the intersection of fatherhood, age and alternative models of masculinity (alongside the traumatic impact of violence), features prominently in the narratives of recent ...Basque women writers. While Edurne Portela's Mejor la ausencia (2017) portrays the traditional hegemonic image of fatherhood, Luisa Etxenike's Absoluta presencia (2018) and Aves del paraíso (2019) create a new understanding of the role and identity of fathers, marked by the impact of ETA's deleterious violence. Male subjectivity in these works is elaborated in patterns of affective landscapes that reject traditional Basque hegemonic masculinity and interrogate marking constituents of fatherhood.

In early modern Italy, lyric poets of spiritual verse experimented with engaging and depicting the divine Word in novel ways. They aestheticized bodies, including that of Christ, and they imagined ...eroticized encounters between themselves and the Word made flesh. This article examines the sensual spiritual poetry of three early modern Italian women who, between 1530 and 1630, dedicated themselves to crafting and reinvigorating the poetic word and to expressing and (re)presenting the divine Word. Exploring the introspective and subjective spiritual lyrics of Vittoria Colonna (1492–1547), Laura Battiferri (1523–1589), and Francesca Turini Bufalini (1553–1641) in the context of the Italian literary Renaissance and Counter-Reformation, it aims to highlight and to elucidate the conflation of the sacred and the erotic in their verse. In so doing, this article reveals how these early modern female poets deployed the sensual strategically in their verse to elevate the erotic and how they raised the Italian religious lyric to new literary heights by spiritualizing the dominant poetic idiom.
