Of Chebanne’s many scholarly contributions, I have been inspired by his work on language use among ethnic minorities. Based on my anthropological research among the G|ui and G||ana, this paper ...examines the social situations in which their languages are imitated. Through this analysis, I show that not only recording imitable grammar and vocabulary but also maintaining activities and places to use such linguistic resources contributes greatly to the reproduction of the speech community. Furthermore, I will argue that the key to promoting the regeneration of a speech community is to activate language practices not only through formal education but also through informal socialization and nonformal education.
The institute of education is an instrument of advanced development, a means of forming a new shaping socio-cultural pattern, with its specific means of significant socialization potential in the ...conditions of rapid development of society's digitalization. Only education, in its present dimension - neuropedagogy, is able to conduct successful socialization of an individual by teaching her from the position of the laws of brain functioning; to intensify this process in the conditions of total digitalization in accordance with the laws of brain functioning. Intensive use of formal and informal education in the daily life of today's society and socialization of the population in the digital environment because of its activities in the virtual sphere create a wide space for the realization of opportunities. They are conditioned by the rapid dynamics of information flow as a global factor of modernity, generating both advantages and problems in the educational process, cognitive development, social adaptation of personality; formation of traditional ways of relations; changes in the neural architecture of the human brain in the long term; emergence of risks beyond the limits of the digital space. It was established how representatives of different generations, grouped into appropriate age focus groups and in the process of receiving formal and informal education, are socialized in the digital space. The paper reveals how the cognitive domain of personality changes under the influence of digitalization in the context of the respondents' stay in the educational environment. The specifics of socialization in the digital environment and the reasons for the preference of virtual form of communication were determined. The types of digital danger in the virtual environment were revealed.
It has been widely argued that existing educational inequality and inequity was exacerbated when schools closed due to Covid-19. In addition, it is disadvantaged young people that are most likely to ...experience the most negative long-term impacts. Many of these young people were successfully engaged in the non-formal sector (i.e. youth work services) before and during the pandemic. This paper introduces Bridging Worlds, a new initiative, which brings together the formal and non-formal sectors in education to develop a new partnership and shared engagement framework to enhance educational outcomes and positive youth development. The project focuses on promoting knowledge, skills and awareness among teachers and youth workers of the formal and non-formal education sectors, using blended learning techniques and implementing a number of pro social youth programmes. It aims to create a strong sustaining connection across these sectors as a project legacy. This article describes the mixed methods approach used to track the implementation of the project across a six-month period, including pre and post survey data and from participating teachers and youth workers combined with qualitative interviews. Project feedback is discussed according to specific research questions. Recommendations are provided for the further development of the programme and for future research.
Purpose of the study: The relevance of the issue under study is conditioned by the necessity to form professional-verbal formal education in the bachelors of pedagogical universities. The goal of ...this article is to determine qualitative characteristics of professional-verbal formal education in bachelors of pedagogical higher school, substantiation of use of forms and methods for generation of professional-verbal formal education.
Methodology: The empirical method is a leading method for studying of this problem, as it allows to observe the process of formation of professional-verbal formal education of bachelors, to measure and compare indicators of the level of the professional-verbal formal education by means of performing specialized tasks; methods of mathematical statistics and graphical imaging of the study results are also used.
Results: The concept of formal education is presented by the authors as a totality of personalistic and professional-verbal properties of a teacher and is regarded as a property which determines living standards of the man as an indicator of the human and intellectual capital, as an indicator of the efficiency of the social and professional activity.
Applications of this study: The materials of this article can be of use in practical work for teachers of linguistic disciplines of not only universities but also secondary schools and colleges; they also can be of interest to teachers and psychologists of the education system and for all related to vocational-pedagogic activity.
Novelty/Originality of this study: A set of measures has been developed and approbated which is necessary and sufficient for the generation of the professional-verbal formal education in bachelors; use of game situations at academic classes and conducting of various events in out-of-classes time, etc. were proposed.
Survey experiments are a core tool for causal inference. Yet, the design of classical survey experiments prevents them from identifying which components of a multidimensional treatment are ...influential. Here, we show how conjoint analysis, an experimental design yet to be widely applied in political science, enables researchers to estimate the causal effects of multiple treatment components and assess several causal hypotheses simultaneously. In conjoint analysis, respondents score a set of alternatives, where each has randomly varied attributes. Here, we undertake a formal identification analysis to integrate conjoint analysis with the potential outcomes framework for causal inference. We propose a new causal estimand and show that it can be nonparametrically identified and easily estimated from conjoint data using a fully randomized design. The analysis enables us to propose diagnostic checks for the identification assumptions. We then demonstrate the value of these techniques through empirical applications to voter decision making and attitudes toward immigrants.
The study examined adolescents' social involvement and volunteerism in their student councils and becoming civically engaged adults. Two‐hundred and two middle‐ and high‐school students active in ...their councils were asked about their involvement in the student council's activities and their perception of the student council as a framework for volunteerism and social involvement. Findings revealed that middle‐ and high‐school active members had been active already in elementary school and were involved in additional school/community volunteerism projects, and their parents were civically engaged adults. To conclude, the student council is an educational platform that promotes students to develop as socially involved adult citizens.
