Medication adherence is one of the most complex and persistent challenges in healthcare. Solutions have been designed with varying degrees of success. Here, the authors present a roadmap that shows ...how emerging IT can play a major role in improving medication adherence. Specifically, they discuss five major technologies for medication adherence: smartphone apps, smart medication boxes, smart pills, sensors, and implantable devices. They show how these technologies support and integrate into a roadmap for higher medication adherence. The hope is that IT professionals will address many of the challenges and opportunities identified in the article.

Awareness has increased in the Sri Lankan community against the backdrop of remarkable progress in health care in Sri Lanka. Also, as the prevalence of noncommunicable diseases continues to rise, the ...need to find innovative solutions to face health challenges and improve the country's healthcare has increased. Accordingly, this research aims to develop a mobile application called MEDI AID as a virtual medical assistant to address health and health challenges and improve services in the country. MEDI AID uses information technology to empower patients, enable personalized health plans to identify and prevent early risk, provide access to expert medical advice and recommendations, make informed decisions, and book virtual clinics for streamlined service delivery. MEDI AID aims to demonstrate the effectiveness and utility of empowering patients and facilitating proactive health management. Performs technical aspects including data integration, user interface design, and security. These findings highlight research potential for reducing the patient-provider gap, improving accessibility, and improving health outcomes. Economic implications are also considered, as MEDI AID can reduce costs and time allocation. As non-communicable diseases are present, MEDI AID stands as an innovative step towards robust healthcare and will have a transformative impact on the health sector in Sri Lanka.

The application of blockchain technology has been expanding at a rapid rate over the past few years, and it has made its way into almost every facet of the information and communications technology ...(ICT) sector. Blockchain has the potential to be deployed in a wide range of industries and domains, including logistics, supply chain management, Internet of Things (IoTs), and Healthcare. According to IBM, 72 % of healthcare leaders believe that the most significant impact of blockchain within the health domain. A wide comprehensive critical assessment of the most current research on blockchain-based healthcare applications is not addressed. This article is to provide the reader with a technical foundation in a variety of blockchain-based healthcare applications, with a particular emphasis on the most recent developments and accomplishments in this field. We give an examination of contemporary blockchain technologies that have been implemented in the healthcare industry i.e Medical Supply chain management, Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Clinical Data Sharing, Health Insurance Claims, Pharmaceutical industry, Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) to examine the strengths and challenges of these application.
