Life as we know it heavily relies on biological catalysis, in fact, in a very nonromantic version of it, life could be considered as a series of chemical reactions, regulated by the guarding ...principles of thermodynamics. In ancient times, a beating heart was a good sign of vitality, however, to me, it is actually the presence of active enzymes that counts… Though we do not usually pay attention, the history of enzymology is as old as humanity itself, and dates back to the ancient times. This paper is dedicated to these early moments of this remarkable science that touched our lives in the past and will make life a lot more efficient for humanity in the future. There was almost always a delicate, fundamentally essential relationship between mankind and the enzymes. Challenged by a very alien and hostile Nature full of predators, prehistoric men soon discovered the medicinal properties of the plants, through trial and error. In fact, they accidently discovered the enzyme inhibitors and thus, in crude terms, kindled a sparkling area of research. These plant-derivatives that acted as enzyme inhibitors helped prehistoric men in their pursuit of survival and protection from predators; in hunting and fishing… Later in history, while the underlying purposes of survival and increasing the quality of life stayed intact, the ways and means of enzymology experienced a massive transformation, as the 'trial and error' methodology of the ancients is now replaced with rational scientific theories.
The paper presents the concept of job satisfaction, the levels of satisfaction of professionals within the wellness industry by companies. The objective of the study is to show the importance of job ...satisfaction for the organization and employees and to investigate the levels of job satisfaction of specialists within the wellness industry Research problem: job satisfaction of professionals within the wellness industry. Research aim: to identify the levels of job satisfaction of professionals within the wellness industry. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, a questionnaire survey, statistical data analysis. Research objectives: 1. To discuss the importance of job satisfaction for the employee and organization. 2. To investigate the levels of job satisfaction of professionals within the wellness industry. Conclusions: 1. Job satisfaction is an important factor, it arouses positive emotions, has a positive impact on employee attitude towards work, organizational image. 2. The level of job satisfaction of professionals within the wellness industry is high thus we can say that the majority of them is satisfied with their job.
Komunikacijske platforme korporacija u okruženju interneta stvari IoT predstavljene su istraživanjem studije slučaja za nove fenomene koji utječu na oblikovanje arhitektonskih programa. Radi se o ...projektnoj diseminaciji kao skupu postupaka kojima se postiže bolja vidljivost namjera i rezultata projekta. Na temeljima arhitektonike informacijskog doba i industrije 4.0 spoznaju se mogućnosti aktivnih sustava dizajna, reafirmiraju aditivne tehnike građenja, istražuju se prirodoslovno-tehnički znanstveni parkovi kao programi projektiranih identiteta mjesta te valoriziraju transformacije mjesta stanovanja, rada, trgovine i transporta s ugrađenim vrijednostima potpune održivosti.
Corporate communications platforms in an environment of the Internet of Things IoT are illustrated with a review of a case study pertaining to new phenomena that affect the design of architectural programs. Based on the architectonics of the Information Age and the Industry 4.0, the possibilities of active design systems are being recognized, additive construction techniques are being reasserted, natural and technical sciences parks are being examined as programs of designed place identities; also, transformations of housing, working, trading and transport places are being valorised as places with embedded values of full sustainability.
Razvoj interneta i digitalizacija proizvodnih procesa izravno su utjecali na radikalne zaokrete u menadžerskim strategijama medijske industrije. Nove medijske industrije razvijale su se usporedo s ...naglim tehnološkim napretkom te su rušile barijere koje su izgrađene u prošlom stoljeću. Streaming industrija dio je nove medijske industrije koja nastaje u 21. stoljeću, a već pokazuje znakove saturacije te se konkurenti udružuju kako bi zadržali i proširili tržišni udio. Cilj je ovog rada analizirati menadžerske strategije i način upravljanja platformom Pandora Media u kontekstu financijskog poslovnog rezultata. Analiza rezultata poslovanja ukazuje na gubitke koje Pandora Media ostvaruje iz operativnog poslovanja, ali i potpunu promjenu menadžerskih strategija. Iako pripada obitelji novih medijskih industrija, odnosno nove menadžerske paradigme, Pandora Media vratila se u okrilje klasičnog menadžerskog modela zadržavajući temeljna obilježja streaming industrije. Streaming industrija, iako jedna od najmlađih industrija unutar medijske industrije, već bilježi prve znakove zasićenja.
Farmaceutska industrija aktivno prati sigurnosni profil lijekova kako bi na vrijeme spriječila ili smanjila mogućnost nastanka nuspojava. Farmakovigilancijske aktivnosti u farmaceutskoj kompaniji ...sastoje se od aktivnog prikupljanja prijava o štetnim učincima lijekova, njihovoj obradi, koja uključuje medicinsku analizu, trajno pohranjivanje i prijavu agencijama za lijekove te sustavne i periodičke analize svih prikupljenih podataka. Farmakovigilancija je vrlo uređen sustav s jasnim zahtjevima pa je tako, primjerice, radi lakše i točnije izmjene podataka i njihove analize, uveden jedinstveni medicinski rječnik za regulatorne poslove – MedDRA (Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities). Jedna od najvažnijih aktivnosti prilikom praćenja sigurnosnog profila lijekova jest i otkrivanje novih informacija i rizika od primjene lijeka putem praćenja sigurnosnih signala. Radi toga se rabe statističke metode i stručna analiza podataka o kvaliteti, klinički i neklinički podatci, farmakovigilancijska i farmakoepidemiološka saznanja, kao i podatci iz objavljene znanstvene literature.
This article explores independent music practices in the context of communities as observed through the theoretical-interpretive framework of ‘The scene (Straw 1991)’. With a focus on local ...interpretations of creating, performing, and consuming singer-songwriter music, the article discusses key features of the contemporary singer-songwriter scene in Zagreb: the musicians’ versatility and their application of do-it-yourself (DIY) principles, poetics and aesthetics. In addition to their importance in the creation and performing processes, these two ideas can also be detected in the areas of promotion and publishing. Observing how they are applied makes it possible to trace the development of the contemporary singer-songwriter scene in Zagreb. By presenting some of the formative DIY programs and projects that have served as a platform for promoting and connecting musicians, this article provides examples of the applicability of DIY concepts, but also questions the reasons for singer-songwriters’ resistance to the established forms of popular music production and consumption, as well as to some common social and economic conventions.

: Život oko nas uglavnom se zasniva na biološkoj katalizi, pa bi se čak, u nekakvoj neromantičnoj priči, život mogao opisati kao niz hemijskih reakcija koje regulišu glavni principi termodinamike. U davnoj prošlosti, kucanje srca bilo je znak dobrog zdravlja, međutim, za mene, najvažniju ulogu ima upravo prisustvo enzima... Mada ne obraćamo često pažnju na to, istorija enzimologije stara je koliko i sam ljudski rod i seže daleko u prošlost. CVaj rad posvećen je baš tim počecima u ovoj veoma zanimljivoj nauci, koja je u prošlosti ostavila traga na našim životima i koja će u budućnosti učiniti da život bude mnogo produktivniji za čovečanstvo. Između čoveka i enzima postojao je oduvek jedan delikatan, suštinski važan odnos. Suočen s nepoznatom i neprijateljski nastrojenom prirodom punom grabljivaca, preistorijski čovek rano je otkrio lekovita svojstva biljaka, i to metodom probe i greške. Štaviše, slučajno su otkriveni inhibitori enzima, čime je, grubo rečeno, još tada otvorena nova oblast istraživanja. Oi biljni derivati koji su imali ulogu inhibitora enzima pomagali su preistorijskom čoveku u njegovoj borbi da opstane i zaštiti se od grabljivaca; prilikom lova i ribolova... Kasnije kroz istoriju, sa nepro- menjenom svrhom opstanka i poboljšanja kvaliteta života, enzimologija je iz korena transformisana, a metodologiju »probe i greške« iz praistorije zamenile su racionalne naučne teorije.
This paper analyses the influence of metallurgy, the leading branch of industry in Sisak in the second half of the twentieth century, on the urban development of settlements. It also carries the ...short retrospective of the development of Željezara Sisak (Sisak Steelworks), since the urban transformation of the town is mostly based on the development of industry. New vacancies led to demographic changes that in the first place manifested in changes of the territorial arrangement of population. The influence of Željezara Sisak is clearly visible in the territorial expansion of the town, housing development and traffic system development as well as in educational system, recreation system etc.
This article deals with the phenomenon of the commercial cinema. The main aim is to analyze one of the creative industries' products (films) in a perspective of different sociological and ...philosophical theories in order to answer the question what causes such a rapid growth and popularity of the cinema industry. In other words, the article tries to find out what relation is between the cinema industry and the culture of consumerism. It leads to assumption that the commercial cinema is capable of creating needs, desires or longings and can even enforce meanings and implications which subjects "consume". Such thesis is analyzed through the concepts of leisure and boredom, society of makers and society of consumers, sequestration of experience and factual/contra-factual levels.
Ova publikacija karakterizira kvalitativne i kvantitativne metode primjene u procjeni aspekata okoliša. Metoda ukupnog opterećenja okoliša posebno je zanimljiva tamo gdje postoje povezanosti procesa ...unutar industrije i povezanosti između industrije i okoliša (suradnja ondustrije s dobavljačima resursa i materijala, povezanost energetskih resursa i distributera produkata ili ostalih suradnika u lancu dodane vrijednosti). Rad završava s primjerom predstavljanja aspekata okoliša u metalurškoj industriji.
