A research ...framework, with underpinning theories of dynamic capabilities and socio-technical systems, was conceptualized to investigate the interplay of these relationships.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 123 manufacturing companies using an online survey and analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics version 24.0 and the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) (SmartPLS) version 3.2.8.FindingsUltimately, the findings proved that kaizen culture is crucial for organizations to optimize their operational performance and can be nurtured through the implementation of process innovation and organizational innovation.Originality/valueUnlike past studies, this research examines the concepts of innovation, kaizen culture and operational performance in a single study; thus, provides further opportunities for new discoveries through such relationships. Also, the novelty is identifying that kaizen culture can be nurtured via innovation.

This research is on product cost optimization projects applied by companies that follow a lean approach. The studied company, a first-tier supplier of the automotive industry, developed a cost reduction methodology to be applied in the production phase named Ratio Project Planning (RPP). This methodology was analysed from a project management perspective. To turn it more effective and efficient, a dashboard that includes the performance indicators regarding RPP was developed and implemented. This tool supports decision-making, allowing real-time monitoring and better management of the whole process.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationship between total productive maintenance (TPM), kaizen event (KE) and innovation performance (IP) for Malaysian automotive industry ...using structural equation modeling (SEM).
Design/methodology/approach
The samples were selected from the list of Proton and Perodua automotive industry. The number of collected respondents was 238 respondents. An SEM technique was used in the study. In order to test the reliability and validity of the instrument, reliability analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted.
Findings
Based on the results, KE does not affect the relationship between TPM and IP. However, the impact of TPM on IP increases with mediating of KE for Malaysian automotive industry. Thus, this study has shown that empirical test results prove that the implementation of TPM and KE has improved the IP for Malaysian automotive industry.
Research limitations/implications
This study only focused on the Malaysian automotive industry. The other limitation in this research is the number of factors and limited measurement in this study. Only a few TPM, KE and IP measurements were considered. By using the SEM technique, four TPM constructs, three for KE constructs and three for IP measures were developed and verified. Therefore, this study can assist the researchers and practitioners to the practice of TPM, KE and IP for Malaysian automotive industry.
Originality/value
This research provides fundamental knowledge and direction for researchers in further research as well as practitioners to constantly improve IP through the implementation of TPM and KE for Malaysian automotive industry.

A gestão do conhecimento envolve o processo de coleta, processamento e disseminação do conhecimento possuído pela empresa, com a finalidade de transformar-se em organização mais inteligente e ...competitiva. Com isso, esta pesquisa buscou avaliar os resultados do estudo do KMCanvas com foco na ferramenta de melhoria contínua Kaizen em um projeto de gestão do conhecimento no setor da mineração. Na pesquisa em campo realizou-se um workshop para apresentação do KMCanvas e, após orientação, solicitou-se aos funcionários selecionados de duas empresas do setor de mineração que implementassem o modelo focado no Kaizen em um projeto da gestão do conhecimento nas organizações. Em seguida foi realizada entrevistas semiestruturadas para identificar quais eram as informações para o desenvolvimento satisfatório das atividades do Kaizen com o KMCanvas. Como resultado, a presente pesquisa comprovou que o KMCanvas é aplicável à realidade das organizações, uma vez que apresenta práticas de disseminação do conhecimento de forma simples e se mostra como uma escolha inovadora para o alcance de vantagens competitivas.
Mexico's public hospitals are experiencing major operational problems which seriously affect the care of Mexican citizens. Some hospitals have initiated efforts to apply the Kaizen philosophy to ...improve this situation. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze the methodological impact of Kaizen-Kata implementation in Mexican public hospitals that have tried to solve operational problems using this improvement approach.
: The service organization implemented Kaizen-Kata methodology in order to improve one operational problem-process in health care. A case-study approach was used in this research in order to understand the effects of the Kaizen-Kata methodology in solving problems in their operational procedures.
Six specific drivers were identified when applying the Kaizen-Kata methodology. Furthermore, the impact on the levels of implementation of the Kaizen-Kata methodology in each of the improvement teams studied was also identified.
The main limitation of the research is that only three case-studies are presented thus it is not possible to generalize its results.
Other public hospitals can use this specific example as a working guide to solve the operational problems of health systems.
A methodology of continuous improvement in manufacturing was imported from the industry sector for application in an operational health care process. The Kaizen-Kata methodology contributed significantly to improving issues involving delays, customer complaints, process reworks and extra-cost, among other effects of operational problems.
This article presents the results of a survey with 13 main activities related to human factors that are executed during kaizen implementation process and were integrated in four independent latent ...variables (management commitment, education, communication and motivation) that are associated to 14 benefits obtained after its implementation that were grouped in three dependent latent variables (process, workers and customers). The survey was applied to persons with responsibilities in continuous improvement programs and projects in companies located in Mexico. Independent and dependent variables were integrated in a structural equation model that was evaluated using partial least squares algorithms WarpPLS® for finding causal relations among them. Results indicate that management commitment and education are the main factors that guarantee the success for kaizen implementation programs, but that is moderated by a good communication for having good operational process performance for better workers and customer satisfaction.

In this paper, a machine learning framework based on Kaizen Programming is proposed for building a soft-sensor using real historical data from an oil refinery. The soft-sensor estimates the composition of C4 hydrocarbons in the distillate stream of a splitter column. Kaizen Programming is a novel technique that has shown excellent results for symbolic regression problems without requiring a priori selection of the functional bases. The framework follows three different steps: pre-processing of the data, model building with the selected algorithm, and ensemble of different good-fitting models. The final ensemble model accurately predicts operation of the column at and between two steady states, outperforming the model based on Gaussian Process in both validation and soft-sensor degradation scenarios.
