-adrenergic receptor. Possible cardiac injury and inflammatory status were judged by serum levels of proBNP/Troponin I and CRP/IL-6, respectively. These parameters were analysed in healthy and periodontally diseased individuals as well as before and after periodontal therapy.

-adrenergic receptors, which further increased following periodontal therapy. Receptor autoantibodies were associated with increased inflammatory status but not with increased markers of cardiac injury. Thus, our data indicate that periodontitis triggers systemic inflammation, which is associated with receptor autoimmunization, and, independently thereof, with cardiac injury.
The case in this report presents an alternative, partially CAD/CAM-based fabrication of a gingival epithesis in a 48-years-old female patient. The patient suffered from a periodontits stage III, ...grade C. After a non-surgical periodontal treatment with adjunctive systemic antibiotics, the patient developed severe circumferential gingival recessions on the upper frontal teeth. Due to social discomfort and esthetic concerns, the indication for a gingival epithesis was made. After taking a conventional impression from the upper jaw, the cast model was scanned and the gingival epithesis was designed virtually at the laboratory. The epithesis was then milled from a block of high performance polymer. Minor adjustments of surface details were added manually. The result was a esthetically sufficient and by the patient well-accepted treatment modality. Further research is necessary to prove the feasibility of a full digital workflow and the long-term stability of CAD/CAMbased gingival epitheses.

Prevalence of osteopathology in dead huemul was 57+% (Argentina), whereas ...similar cases in Chile were accompanied by selenium deficiency. The first clinical cases from live wild huemul confirm widespread osteopathology which explains short life spans, low recruitment, and thus absence of population recovery.
The first-ever radio-collaring of 3 male huemul in Argentina and 3 females, plus a fresh female carcass allowed examination of 7 huemul. Of these, 86% were diseased and clinical pathophysiognomy included lameness, affected hoof, exfoliation of 2-7 incisors, other cranial osteopathologies, and muscle atrophy. The parsimonious explanation for absent population recovery is high prevalence of osteopathology as evidenced earlier in carcasses, and now by these clinical cases. Areas currently used by huemul have reduced selenium bioavailability, very deficient soil levels, and overt selenium deficiency in local livestock and plants. These areas are known to result in primary iodine deficiency which is aggravated by selenium deficiency. The nexus to nutritional ecology of huemul likely is inaccessibility to most fertile lowlands and traditional winter ranges, elimination of migratory traditions, and concomitant elimination of source populations.
The most common periodontal tissue damage occurs by the action of microbial plaque. A smaller percentage of damage comes from non-microbial factors (physical and chemical irritation). Between the ...periodontal and the pulp exists a connection. Therefore, it is necessary to know the relationship between periodontium and endodont in order to prevent damage. Positive results were achieved by the appropriate treatment in which was influenced on the inflamation of the periodontium. It is also a need for cooperation between the attending dentist and dental hygienist. La lesión más común del tejido periodontal se produce por la acción de la placa microbiana. Un porcentaje menor de lesión proviene de factores no microbianos (irritación física y química). Entre el periodontal y la pulpa existe una conexión. Por lo tanto, es necesario conocer la relación entre el periodoncio y el endodonte para prevenir lesión. Se obtuvieron resultados positivos mediante el tratamiento apropiado en el que se influyó en la inflamación del periodonto. También es una necesidad de cooperación entre el dentista y el higienista dental.
Svrha rada: Željela se odrediti prevalencija asimptomatskoga apikalnog parodontitisa (AAP) i njegova povezanost s bolešću koronarnih arterija (BKA) u brazilskoj populaciji, i to prema spolu, dobi i ...zahvaćenim zubima. Materijali i metode: Prikupljeni su podatci iz kartona pacijenata (n = 1346) koji su se liječili u Klinici za endodnciju Sveučilišta Pernambuco u razdoblju od 2003. do 2010. Iz svakoga su izdvojene sljedeće varijable: spol, dob, endemski kompromitirani zubi, dijagnosticirana endodontska bolest i povijest BKA. Podatci su analizirani razinom značajnosti postavljenom na pet posto. Rezultati: AAP je dijagnosticiran kod 574 pacijenta (42,6 %), odnosno na 641 zubu (40,1 %). Podjednako su bila zahvaćena oba spola (p = 0,082) i sve dobne skupine (p = 0,190). Gornji sjekutići (52,8 %, p <0,001) bili su češće zahvaćeni AAP-om. Pacijenti s AAP-om imali su 1,45 puta veću vjerojatnost da će oboljeti od BKA (p = 0,307). Zaključak: Rezultati su pokazali da je prevalencija AAP-a u ovoj populaciji bila velika i slična onoj u ostalim zemljama. Ustanovljena je pozitivna, ali ne i statistički značajna, povezanost između AAP-a i BKA.
