The book is intended as an operational tool for all teachers at all school levels who want to contribute to the introduction of reading aloud in schools in an intensive, progressive and daily ...fashion. The book makes use of the research work carried out within the “Reading: So Cool!” project in the Region of Tuscany. In the first year, training, supervision, support, monitoring and quantitative and qualitative surveys were focused on the 0/6 system which the first book, divided into 27 suggestions for reading aloud, addressed (Batini, Giusti, eds., 2021). The present volume represents the continuation of the second year of the research and illustrates 16 fundamental techniques and strategies for correct management of the practice of reading aloud in the school context. The methodological proposals are organised in three sections: Preparation, Action! and After Reading. This volume is the result of a participatory process involving fruitful dialogue among the scientific literature, expertise and didactic practice and in which the experience of a panel of experts – composed of scholars, operators, educators and teachers of all school levels – has been enhanced. “Reading: So Cool! Reading aloud increases intelligence” is an educational policy of the Region of Tuscany, implemented with the scientific and operational coordination of the University of Perugia (Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Education), in collaboration with Cepell (“Centre for Promotion of Books and Reading” of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities); the Regional School Office of Tuscany; Indire (Central Institute for Innovation, Documentation and Educational Research); and LaAV (National movement of reading aloud volunteers within the association Nausika).
Although an abundant literature documents preliterate children's word learning success from shared storybook reading, a full synthesis of the factors which moderate these word learning effects has ...been largely neglected. This meta-analysis included 38 studies with 2,455 children, reflecting 110 effect sizes, investigating how reading styles, story repetitions, tokens and related factors moderate children's word comprehension, while adjusting for the number of target words. Dialogic reading styles, tokens, and the number of words tested all moderated word learning effects. Children's age, who read the story, and time between story and test were not moderators. We identify story repetition and word types as topics which merit further research. These results provide information to guide researchers and educators alike to the factors with the greatest impact on improving word learning from shared storybook reading.

Hasil dari analisa penelitian ini, terdapat 5 buah bunyi yang tidak konsisten dalam pelafalannya, yaitu bunyi. ɪə, eɪ, aɪ, dan ɔʊ.
It is widely believed that reading to preschool children promotes their language and literacy skills. Yet, whether early parent–child book reading is an index of generally rich linguistic input or a ...unique predictor of later outcomes remains unclear. To address this question, we asked whether naturally occurring parent–child book reading interactions between 1 and 2.5 years‐of‐age predict elementary school language and literacy outcomes, controlling for the quantity of other talk parents provide their children, family socioeconomic status, and children's own early language skill. We find that the quantity of parent–child book reading interactions predicts children's later receptive vocabulary, reading comprehension, and internal motivation to read (but not decoding, external motivation to read, or math skill), controlling for these other factors. Importantly, we also find that parent language that occurs during book reading interactions is more sophisticated than parent language outside book reading interactions in terms of vocabulary diversity and syntactic complexity.

This article aims to stimulate students' reading comprehension skills using the Reading Aloud technique. Reading aloud is the main axis connecting reading and speaking English. Reading aloud not only ...increases reading and basic knowledge but also improves oral expression. How the Read aloud technique can stimulate students' reading skills. Reading plays an important role as one of four abilities in improving students' English performance. This study involved 16 respondents who were 5th-semester students of the English Language Education Program at Ibn Khaldun University. This research was a descriptive study in which the researcher used a qualitative method. Data collected by interview, questionnaire, and observation. The results of the study showed that most of them did not agree with the techniques from Reading aloud. Based on respondents' statements, we found that the use of the reading method with hard reading techniques helped students to stimulate reading comprehension, especially to help students in pronunciation.

The article aims to present the role of reading aloud in a foreign language class. Why is this ability to read important in student learning? What is its place and function in learning? How? ‘or’ ...What to do so that reading aloud can serve expression not only oral but also written? We assume that learning foreign languages is very useful for those who need to acquire basic communication skills in a short period of time. Nevertheless, it must also be appropriate for those who learn the foreign language with a professional purpose, and who will have to communicate correctly and to pronounce well in specialized contexts. We consider reading aloudto bea good technique for memorizing certain information over the long term. In addition, it opens up a cultural, social and emotional dimension of the language. Unfortunately, this activity has been wrongly overlooked. Therefore, in the first section of the paper, we will try to rehabilitate the reading aloud activity in the foreign language class. The next section discusses the implications and benefits of reading aloud for advanced students. The final section presents activities and objectives of reading aloud, as well as certain strategies used to facilitate the initiation of spontaneous speech and communication.
Reading regularly with young children stimulates optimal patterns of brain development and strengthens parent-child relationships at a critical time in child development, which, in turn, builds ...language, literacy, and social-emotional skills that last a lifetime. Pediatric providers have a unique opportunity to encourage parents to engage in this important and enjoyable activity with their children beginning in infancy. Research has revealed that parents listen and children learn as a result of literacy promotion by pediatricians, which provides a practical and evidence-based opportunity to support early brain development in primary care practice. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that pediatric providers promote early literacy development for children beginning in infancy and continuing at least until the age of kindergarten entry by (1) advising all parents that reading aloud with young children can enhance parent-child relationships and prepare young minds to learn language and early literacy skills; (2) counseling all parents about developmentally appropriate shared-reading activities that are enjoyable for children and their parents and offer language-rich exposure to books, pictures, and the written word; (3) providing developmentally appropriate books given at health supervision visits for all high-risk, low-income young children; (4) using a robust spectrum of options to support and promote these efforts; and (5) partnering with other child advocates to influence national messaging and policies that support and promote these key early shared-reading experiences. The AAP supports federal and state funding for children's books to be provided at pediatric health supervision visits to children at high risk living at or near the poverty threshold and the integration of literacy promotion, an essential component of pediatric primary care, into pediatric resident education. This policy statement is supported by the AAP technical report "School Readiness" and supports the AAP policy statement "Early Childhood Adversity, Toxic Stress, and the Role of the Pediatrician: Translating Developmental Science Into Lifelong Health."
Research on the efficacy of second language (L2) pronunciation instruction has produced mixed results, despite reports of significant improvement in many studies. Possible explanations for divergent ...outcomes include learner individual differences, goals and foci of instruction, type and duration of instructional input, and assessment procedures. After identifying key concepts, we survey 75 L2 pronunciation studies, particularly their methods and results. Despite a move towards emphasizing speech intelligibility and comprehensibility, most research surveyed promoted native-like pronunciation as the target. Although most studies entailed classroom instruction, many featured Computer Assisted Pronunciation Teaching (CAPT). Segmentals were studied more often than suprasegmentals. The amount of instruction required to effect change was related to researchers' goals; interventions focusing on a single feature were generally shorter than those addressing more issues. Reading-aloud tasks were the most common form of assessment; very few studies measured spontaneous speech. The attribution of improvement as a result of instruction was compromised in some instances by lack of a control group. We summarize our findings, highlight limitations of current research, and offer suggestions for future directions.
Reading aloud represents one of the most effective practices for cognitive democracy that schools can adopt to guarantee academic success for all children and youth. With the multi-year project ...“Reading: So Cool!”, the Region of Tuscany wanted to introduce reading aloud in early childhood education services and schools in a systematic and structured way. The aim was to promote reading aloud as a regular and daily practice for the entire education system in Tuscany to reduce, over time, school dropout and learning inequalities. Starting from experience in the field, this book recounts, documents and explains the intentions, actions and results of the first year of activity in this project. It shares the theoretical foundations, practices, evidence collected and results achieved without forgetting the difficulties and a critical assessment. The dissemination of this experience is important and allows the promotion and replication – including outside the Tuscan region – the aims and tools of what has become, over time, a real educational policy that is able to encourage the achievement of core skills not only at school, but for life.
This book presents 27 operational techniques useful for making the practice of reading aloud as effective as possible in the educational structures dealing with children up to 6 years of age, by ...following a bottom-up approach. The methodological proposals are organised in three sections: Gaining and Developing Attention, Creating Interest in Stories and Encouraging Participation and Book Culture. The research took into account hundreds of suggestions formulated by scholars, educators and teachers who are experts in reading aloud, as well as by a group of researchers. It explored the specialised bibliography and websites dedicated to reading aloud and involved, through interviews, educators and teachers of nursery schools and preschools from the 35 Education Zones of the Region of Tuscany. The aim is to promote, in all children and youth, the development of the basic skills needed to achieve academic success of each and every one.
