Labour compliance is essential to protect workers’ rights and promote sustainable, responsible and effective business development. It necessitates continuous preparation of preventive compliance ...reports on occupational risks, usually requiring studies and their timely updates, risk analysis, training-oriented resource management, and training of workers and managers. Greater self-regulation, such as compliance, can help mitigate risk of penal sanctions for individuals who fail to comply with risk prevention regulations, seriously endangering health and safety at work. A robust and effective compliance programme in this area aims to ensure legal and contractual obligations are met, particularly with respect to protecting the life and health of workers. Compliance can also bolster company success, minimise reputational damage for corporations, avoid payment of hefty fines and suspension of permits and licenses that would halt operations, among others.
Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi značenje i sadržaja koje je pojavljivanje bolesti COVID-19 imalo na području znanosti o sigurnosti u razdoblju od 2020. do 2022. Metodom Prizma autori su analizirali ...3.992 članka objavljena u časopisima Safety Science, Accident Analysis & Prevention, Journal of Safety Research, Safety and Health at Work, International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion, Sigurnost te Delo in varnost. Utvrdili su da ta tematika nije privukla veliku pozornost jer ju je obrađivalo nešto više od 1 % autora iz 26 država svijeta. Tematika bolesti COVID-19 u najvećem broju slučajeva bila je obrađivana iz aspekta psihosocijalnih stresora radnoga okruženja (8 istraživanja), organizacijskih mjera za sprečavanje zaraze (4 istraživanja), osobne zaštitne opreme (4 istraživanja) i drugoga, kao što su složenost, sustavni pristup i analiza rizika (3 teorijska članka). Nitko od autora u sigurnosnoj struci „utemeljenoj na dokazima” nije prepoznao moguće opasnosti koje bi proizlazile iz ključnih pokazatelja poput čestoće i ozbiljnosti ozljeda te zdravstvenih problema u organizacijama. Rezultati istraživanja donose korisne informacije za razvoj znanosti o sigurnosti i struke te pružaju mogućnosti za daljnje istraživanje.
The principal goal of the research was to determine the meaning and substantive emphasis that the appearance of the COVID-19 had in the field of safety science in the chronological period from 2020 to 2022. Using the Prisma method, we analyzed 3,992 articles published in the journals Safety Science, Accident Analysis & Prevention, Journal of Safety Research, Safety, and Health at Work, International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion, Safety and Work, and Safety. We found that this topic did not attract much attention because it was covered by a little more than 1% of authors from 26 countries of the world. In most cases, the topic of the disease COVID-19 was analyzed in accordance with the aspects of psychosocial stressors of the work environment (8 studies), organizational measures to prevent infection (4 studies), personal protective equipment (4 studies), and other factors, such as complexity, systematic approach, and risk analysis (3 theoretical articles). None of the authors in the "evidence-based" safety profession has so far recognized any of the possible dangerous situations that could arise from key indicators such as the frequency and severity of injuries and health issues in organizations. The results of the research provide convenient information for the development of safety science and the profession and moreover provide opportunities for further research.
This work assessed the psychosocial risks of 124 workers from the plywood industry in Ecuador's Amazon region. Two psychosocial risk assessment (PRA) methods were selected due to their widespread use ...in Ecuadorian organisations: FPSICO from the Spanish National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the "Psychosocial Risk Assessment Questionnaire" (PRAQ) from the Ecuadorian Labour Ministry. Therefore, two surveys of 89 and 58 items were applied to evaluate nine scales and eight risk dimensions for FPSICO and PRAQ, respectively. Results show that according to FPSICO, the main psychosocial risks were detected in the scales of working time (WT), variety and content (VC), and workload (WL), with a prevalence of 34.8 % and 41.7 %. For PRAQ, the margin of action and control (D4), load and work rate (D1), and leadership (D3) were the most affected dimensions, with a risk prevalence between 29.1 % and 43.6 %. Although there is a lower risk prevalence in the rest of the scales and dimensions assessed, improvement actions are needed in the short term. Furthermore, the findings suggest an association between gender and risk prevalence, especially in the dimensions of Leadership (D3), Skills development (D2), and Self-perceived health (D8.8), where being a woman increases the likelihood of suffering from these conditions by up to three times. In addition, a brief comparative analysis was conducted, looking for coincidences in the scales that each PRA instrument assesses and the prevalence of the psychosocial risks detected.
The results of this paper are determined by the guide-lines and regulations applicable to teleworking in Colombia in terms of occupational health and safety, to the design of the Occupational Health ...and Safety Model for autonomous teleworking, and to the structuring and validation of the Maturity of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ema), Quality of Life (CoL), and Working Conditions (wc) instruments. For the development of the Model, the following categories were analyzed: advantages and disadvantages of tele-working, teleworking modalities, worker conditions, environmental conditions, conditions of the tasks, change management, leadership, and quality of life. Statistical validations were performed on each proposed instrument, such as internal consistency, factor analysis, and component analysis. In the proposed Model, the employer or contractor must address the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases and the protection and promotion of the health of workers and/or contrac-tors through the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a management system with principles based on the pdca cycle (Plan, Do, Check, and Act).

The article intends to analyze occupational health and safety as a business strategy that contributes to increasing productivity and competitiveness, proposing three phases, formulation of a search protocol, search execution and discussion of results. The implementation of Safety and health at work, translates into a business strategy, generating well-being, motivation, a sense of belonging and an increase in labor productivity and therefore competitiveness.
Abstract Paper aims This research presents a literature overview in relation to data mining and machine learning applications in the area of occupational health and safety. Originality A summary of ...main insights obtained from the analysis of systematic mapping is presented at the end, as well as a roadmap with recommendations for directing future research on the topic. Research method This article carries out a thorough descriptive research of the scientific literature on the topic through a systematic mapping covering the period between the years 2008 and 2019 and 12 scientific databases, which at the end presents 68 selected records. Main findings Around 84% of the selected records were of total significance for the research, with the majority of them being classified in the areas of civil construction and steel industry. Implications for theory and practice Through this study it is possible to understand the way research has been developed on this theme, as well as point to the guidelines for future studies. Other contribution is the indication of studies in OSH 4.0 concept, based on monitoring workers full-time.
Safety and health at work (SHW) has become a public health priority in industrialized countries and a primary concern in the context of human resource management and in particular high ...risk-industries. Thus, developing a strong safety culture (SC) would be a mean to reduce the number of adverse events related to various activities in the company. Now, the laws and customs interact: when a people have good manners, laws become simple. Unfortunately, habits cannot be modified by setting example. Therefore, regardless of the size and activity of the entity, health and safety at work must be at the heart of its daily management. In the absence of effective management of health and safety at work, it is the entire company that is mismanaged. On the whole, risk management can be defined as a process of prevention and protection allowing a company or an entity, placed in a competitive context, to take all necessary decisions in order to optimize its activity, without affecting its customers as well as the environment. This work is an opportunity to initiate a global approach to prevention in cement plants whose purpose is to improve working conditions by technical, organizational and human solutions to improve the health and safety of employees while engaging in a process of continuous improvement.
The virtual world has long been a focus not only of the gaming sphere, but also of the manufacturing and educational industries. The virtual world and its technology have many advantages, the basic ...ones being, for example, the use of experiential learning, with which the human brain can remember some things better and faster. It was due to the advantages of virtual reality technology that we decided to create an educational system on safety and health at work, and we focused on the healthcare segment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the cooperation of a professional consortium, we created an educational system for safety and health at work and carried out several extensive laboratory measurements, the results of which we followed up in practical measurements with medical staff. The created system is inherently unique and applicable and can be used across several industries. The article presents three basic types of scenarios as well as an evaluation of satisfaction with the proposed system from test participants, i.e., nurses.
