This paper will look at a client diagnosed with schizophrenia functioning at a negative reflective functioning (RF) level. Schaverien depicts a model of successive stages in the life of the picture. ...For some clients whose inner worlds are very fragmented the stage of 'familiarisation', the 'immanent articulation' may be the limits of their therapy. I propose that with the help of the group and its reflective functioning process, a client working at a negative reflective functioning level can be assisted in moving past the stage of 'familiarisation'. I will consider how the art psychotherapy group may work as a way of exploring the mind. Furthermore, I suggest that such a client who has moved past the stage of 'familiarisation' can further progress into subsequent stages. I will present clinical vignettes of three art psychotherapy group sessions to illustrate this process. These groups will cover the first session, the fourth session and the thirty-second art psychotherapy session.
The death of a biological population is an extreme event which we investigate here for a host–parasitoid system. Our simulations using the Penna ageing model show how biological evolution can “teach” ...the parasitoids to avoid extinction by waiting for the right age of the host. We also show the dependence of extinction time on the population size.
Outsourcing is leading to more and more complex industrial organisations. This can be attributed to the fact that several decision centres interact. As a consequence, changes in customer-supplier ...relationships can be noticed. In recent years, these relations have strongly evolved to lead to better internal management of each partner and a better general performance to satisfy customers. These evolutions created a new approach to the relationship between companies, called 'industrial partnership', in the form of a network. Networks induce a need at customer-supplier relation control level. The contribution and participation of each of the partners are thus fundamental to make supply chain management (SCM) a successful project. The control system of each actor partner must thus be adaptable enough to satisfy the production requirements. Our contribution to the improvement of customer-supplier relationship is a decentralised self-organised control model based on the concept of holon. In this model, the decision system manages a group of actors' operations who are in a partnership. In this paper in particular a process for the evaluation of the suppliers network is discussed.
We have followed the photo-transformation, the light-induced thermal hysteresis, and the light-induced phase separation (LIPS) into like-spin phases on a Fe(ptz)
(BF
single crystal, in the quenched ...rhombohedral phase, through the analysis of neutron Laue diffraction patterns. In agreement with the analysis of previous magnetic measurements, phase separation was observed in the close vicinity of the static light-induced instability, but not otherwise. The positions of the Laue spots were analysed in terms of variation in the
lattice-parameter ratio which is well correlated with the variation of the high-spin fraction predicted by a simple homogeneous mean-field model. Using a mapped version of the same model, we analyzed the line shapes of the Laue spots during photo-excitation and relaxation experiments so as to determine the width of the distribution of irradiation intensities, a crucial parameter in phase separation. The predictions of the mapped model failed to reproduce the rapid initial kinetics of the phase separation process, but were in agreement with the further evolution. These features are attributed to a nucleation and growth process, for which the crossover from microscopic to macroscopic regimes has been observed.
Application Layer Networks like Utility Grid Networks or Cloud Computing Systems, often depicted as large scale self-organising architectures using a shared infrastructure, will need innovative ...management approaches for controlling and matching services demand and supply. This article shows a self-organising resource allocation approach based on principles of the Catallaxy, an economic concept of F.A. von Hayek. The implementation uses a coevolutionary learning algorithm for adaptation of the agent strategy to the dynamic Application Layer Network environment. The simulation study performs a sensitivity analysis of a large scale Application Layer Network scenario with 2000 agents. A set of representative agents is selected and their evolutionary behaviour analysed.
In this paper, which is the result of a qualitative, hermeneutical and documental research, we intend to show how the Cognitive Sciences, since their beginning, have contributed to the understanding of human beings. We refer to the rationalistic understanding of the mind (the mind is like a computer system), and also to the non-rationalistic understanding, which attributes to the mind a cognitive value, immersed in emotions and affections. In addition, according to a constructivist or post-rationalistic understanding, the mind translates meanings, an experience or a personal narrative story. Thus, we present the model of post-rationalistic cognitive therapy of Vittorio Guidano, reflecting on the epistemological foundations of the Self-Organization Movement, on which it is based. We describe briefly the epistemological principles of the Self-Organization Movement, which give to this model a holistic and explanatory dimension of the process of construction of human identity. This identity can be described as the human beings' process of self-knowledge, as we are capable of experiencing and at the same time perceiving and evaluating, our own experiences (self-consciousness). The human being acts on intersubjectivity, in a pluralistic world with his peers, sharing experiences and interpreting actions. We also want to illustrate that the matrix of inner functioning of every human being, which allows us to sort this multi-faceted reality in a single personal order, is the emotional bond.
