The aim of the research is to structure a scale of the reality of sports activity in the directorates of student activities for the universities of the Middle Euphrates, as well as to identify the ...reality of sports activity in these directorates, and the descriptive approach was followed in the two survey methods and the case study, and the research community was represented by the coaches of the sports teams for male and female students in the directorates of student activities for the universities of the Euphrates. The middle school consisted of (150) male and female coaches for various sports, and the research sample of (40) male and female coaches was randomly selected. The researchers used tools for data collection or measurement (sources, references, questionnaire, personal interview, test and measurement), and a scale was prepared for the reality of sports activity in the student activities directorates of the Middle Euphrates universities. It was distributed to a sample of (100) male and female coaches. Although there are stadiums and sports halls in the student activities directorates of the Middle Euphrates Universities, they are not sufficient for the purpose. And that the most expensive ones are not suitable for practicing sports activity, whether for training or for holding matches, in addition to the weak sports activity programs in the student activities directorates of the Middle Euphrates universities, as they are not satisfactory to the ambition of most coaches, due to weak participation and interaction, and one of the most important recommendations is the need to pay attention to stadiums and sports halls because they are the pillar The basic and first pillar of sports activity programs, and because it represents the element of attraction and enticement for students’ affiliation with university teams, as well as the selection of efficient sports elements that have high academic achievement and previous field experience and full-time training for university teams, which in turn is reflected in the development of sports activity in the directorates of university student activities.

The competitive education environment in Mainland China pressure many students to take up after-school lessons, cutting into their leisure time and exercise less, setting a path towards a more ...sedentary lifestyle. We use a survey on sports consumption for Shanghainese adolescent ages 6 to 17 to examine whether they sacrifice sports activity as they advance through the grade. We found that students a year older exercise 16.2 fewer minutes per week, 1.38 percent less likely to spend on sports training, 1.42 percent more likely to watch sports events, 1.90 percent more likely to buy more sports related goods. Our result shows that students substitute sports activities with more expenditure on sports products and events. When older adolescent exercise less, we are concerned that it may contribute to rising obesity and a more sedentary lifestyle.
The main goal of this study was to analyze the relationships among physical fitness, selective attention and concentration in a group of 210 teenagers (43.81% male, 56.19% female) from the city of ...Málaga (Spain), aged between 11 and 15 years old (
= 13.27,
= 1.80) that participated in the study. D2 attention test was used in order to analyze selective attention and concentration. Physical fitness was evaluated using the horizontal jump test, the Course Navette test and the 5 × 10 meters speed test. The analysis taken indicated a significant relationship among the physical fitness level, the attention and the concentration, as in the general sample as looking at gender. Linear regression tests performed showed that oxygen consumption is the best predictor of attentional parameters. Cluster analysis shows two groups characterized by a greater or lower physical fitness level. So, the highest physical fitness level group scores better in the attention (e.g., boys:
< 0.001,
' Cohen = 1.01, 95% CI 0.57, 1.44; girls:
< 0.01,
' Cohen = 0.61, 95% CI 0.24, 0.98) and the concentration tests (e.g., boys:
< 0.001,
' Cohen = 0.89, 95% CI 0.46, 1.32; girls:
< 0.01,
' Cohen = 0.58, 95% CI 0.21, 0.95). Results indicate that physical fitness analysis can be used as a tool for observing differences in the attention and concentration level of the analyzed adolescents, suggesting that a physical performance improvement could be an adequate procedure to develop some cognitive functions during adolescence.
Physical activity (PA) and sports are extremely essential elements for physical and mental health among adolescents. Around 30% of 16 years old and above in Malaysia have mental health issues. For ...this purpose, 512 university students from Malaysia were surveyed through social media, with 74% response rate. Structural equation model partial least square (SEM-PLS) was used to examine the effect of PA and sports on mental health. The results revealed that both PA (
b
= 0.402,
p
< 0.001) and sports (
b
= 0.330,
p
< 0.001) significantly predict mental health among university students. The model explained 35.8% variance in mental health. The study suggests that PA and sports activity need to be promoted among university students to control prevailing mental health issues in adolescents.
The study aimed to identify the impact of the practice of adapted sports activity on the level of self-esteem of the physically disabled, in addition to their comparison with their peers who are not ...practicing adapted sports activity, To achieve this, the researchers used the descriptive approach and the questionnaire that they designed as a tool for collecting data and information from an intentional sample consisting of (24) physically disabled persons, (12) physically disabled practitioners of the adapted sports activity on a regular basis, and (12) physically disabled non-practitioners. The results of the study showed that the level of self-esteem of the physically disabled group practicing the adapted sports activity was high (46.79), and that the level of self-esteem of the non-practicing disabled was low (18,98), The results indicated that the practice of adapted sports activity has a positive effect on the level of self-esteem of the physically disabled are practicing the activity compared to the non-practitioners of the adapted sports activity. The researchers recommended increasing awareness of individuals with physically disabilities of the importance of exercising adapted sports activity.
Background:
There is controversy whether nonoperative or operative treatment for Achilles tendon rupture is superior. It is unknown if patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture return to previous ...sports activity. The purpose of this study was to assess 5-year return to sport and subjective satisfaction, minimum 1-year functional outcomes, and complications in patients following nonoperative treatment of Achilles tendon rupture with early weightbearing rehabilitation.
Methods:
An institutional review board–approved, retrospective observational study involving 89 patients was performed. Out of 114 consecutive patients, 89 (78%) responded to questionnaires for sports activity. Nonoperative treatment consisted of an equinus cast and rehabilitation boot that enabled early weightbearing. Sports activity at 1-year and 5-year follow-up was compared to the prerupture status. Based on the prerupture Tegner Activity Scale (TAS), patients were divided into low-level (<6) and high-level (≥6) activity groups. Clinical assessment at minimum 1-year follow-up was performed with the Thermann score. Mean clinical follow-up was 34 ± 23 months.
Results:
Overall, >70% of the patients returned to their previous sports activity level after a nonoperative early weightbearing treatment. Return-to-sport rate was significantly (P = .029) higher for patients in the low-level activity group (91%) compared to patients (67%) in the high-level activity group at 5-year follow-up. Subjective satisfaction with treatment was good in both groups (93% and 96%, respectively). The mean Thermann score did not differ between the 2 groups at 1-year follow-up. There were 11 reruptures, 5 deep venous thromboses, and 1 case of complex regional pain syndrome.
Conclusion:
Nonoperative treatment for Achilles tendon rupture yielded good functional outcome and high patient satisfaction. For patients with a high preinjury activity level, return to previous sporting level (assessed by TAS) was possible in 67% of the patients compared to >90% of patients with low preinjury activity level.
Level of Evidence:
Level III, retrospective comparative series
