Introduction. This paper continues to explore the characteristics of contemporary blogosphere, which has become one of the ways to spread historical knowledge. Blog creators have become direct ...participants in the formation of our country's history. The purpose of this paper is to examine the ways in which history is presented on contemporary websites, on blogs, and the features of presenting history in contemporary school textbooks. The focus on education in the study of blogs on historical subjects is necessary and topical: historical narrative is embedded in the public space, including the Internet, which is a more attractive source of information for modern schoolchildren than books. Results. There are anonymous blogs on the Internet whose creators claim that their content is historical. The content of such resources is of course not related to public history. Narrative of public history is linked to collective memory, to history as academic discipline, and has a fundamental historical significance. In a modern history textbook linear historical narrative is fragmented into separate stories by means of a special design; an attempt has been made to create the situation of getting information in a way familiar to the individual with fragmented thinking. Direct participation of professional historians in the creation of public history, its development, including the information and telecommunication network of the Internet will reduce the threat of chaotic development of public history, will significantly improve the quality of the historical narrative in the public sphere, will make modern blogs and history textbooks mutually complementary ways of presenting history.
Realities of modern education actualize the need to change the approach to developing textbooks for higher education. Bilingual textbooks are becoming more highly-demanded as they provide for ...achieving a dual purpose – teaching both a foreign language and a professional discipline. Despite the spread of CLIL approach in elementary and secondary levels, it has not been introduced in higher education as widely as traditional teaching methods. It is mostly employed in Master’s programmes, whereas bachelor-level programmes are completely uninvolved in this regard. Scarcity of appropriate teaching materials alongside with the lack of reliable materials in the Russian language accounts for the limited scope of CLIL implementation in our country. The textbook developed by the authors is an attempt to introduce CLIL techniques into the curriculum of the second year of study in the Legal Department of Pyatigorsk State University in teaching a professional discipline – Financial Law by means of a foreign language, namely English. The textbook is innovative in its nature as it promotes meta-knowledge, problem solving and critical thinking, collaboration and communication thus serving as the driver of knowledge transfer in modern Russian educational environment.

There appeared an issue of choosing an appropriate digital textbook or course of study to help students in mastering monologue and dialogue skills, to boost their motivation to speak Russian (both spontaneously and purposefully) under the teacher’s guidance or without it. Basic research methods included making a systematic review of on-line resources which can meet foreign students’ educational demands, analyzing the sources; determining the criteria for selecting the appropriate electronic publications and courses. The following key words were used for the search: “Russian as a foreign language” or “RFL textbook”. The criteria for selecting digital textbooks included their consistency with the key words, themes, and the level of study; a full-text format, availability of assignments aimed at developing monologue and dialogue skills in the Russian language. The use of the abovementioned methods helped to make a list of electronic textbooks and on-line courses, to specify their peculiar features and to analyze their exercises aimed at developing speaking skills. The review of the sources given in the article as well as the analysis of their technical and educational resources will hopefully help teachers giving Russian language on-line classes to select the most appropriate variant of a textbook (or assignments in it) which will effectively accomplish the task of developing speaking skills.
