    Deinstitutionalisation has been an important issue in Slovenia for more than forty years. Despite numerous experiments the process has never been fully and consistently realised. At present the ... National Plan of Social Care stipulates that Slovenia will diminish its institutions for people with intellectual disabilities and mental distress by two thirds. To achieve this, a deinstitutionalisation plan is needed that would outline the process and set the possible scenarios of change. The symposium of Social Work and Deinstitutionalisation in Dubrovnik 2013 was a first step towards the planning of deinstitutionalisation in Slovenia. We have drawn up a vision of future services, methods that need to be developed and sketched four ideal options of scenarios and suggested some organisational solutions. This articleis a summary of the discussion on this symposium.
