Pričujoči članek predstavi diahroni pregled didaktičnih pristopov, ki so se uveljavljali pri poučevanju tujih in drugih jezikov v svetu do danes. Njegov namen je preveriti njihovo rabo pri glotodidaktiki italijanščine kot drugega jezika na narodno mešanem območju slovenske Istre. Po primerjavi z učnim načrtom avtorica umesti vidnejše pristope v sodobno pedagoško prakso in jih na konkretnih primerih lastne pedagoške prakse preuči ter poda smernice uporabe v prvem in drugem vzgojno-izobraževalnem obdobju osnovnih šol.
