The Oil & gas journal, 03/1992, Volume: 90, Issue: 10Magazine Article
The Middle East is a region of diverse and often conflicting political goals and loyalties that is experiencing great turmoil and political uncertainty 1 yr after the 1991 Persian Gulf war. Implications of these trends for future relationships between OPEC and non-OPEC states and for world oil supplies are examined. A gradual expansion of market share for the cartel is predicted, as is increasing pressure on OPEC to reach agreement on production constraints. New opportunities for introducing competition into the region and for stimulating economic growth within OPEC member states are identified.
