Pjesništvo Paule pl. Preradović bavi se uglavnom sjećanjima iz djetinjstva i mladosti u istarskim krajolicima na Jadranu. Osim izraza mladenačkog otpora prema modernom velegradu u duhu antimodernizma tu su i vjerski hvalospjevi ili himne o domovini, ljubavi i braku, prijateljstvu i ljudskosti, životu i smrti. Himne Paule pl. Preradović stoga ispunjavaju vjersku svrhu, ako religiju u etimološkom smislu (religio) shvaćamo kao stvaranje odnosa između Boga, svijeta i čovjeka kroz pomno čitanje uvijek iznova. Uz pomoć suvremene fenomenologije religije ovaj rad postavlja glavnu hipotezu da himne Paule pl. Preradović stoje u obzorju svetog. The poetry of Paula von Preradović primarily deals with memories from her childhood and youth spent in Istria on the Adriatic Sea. Besides the youthful resistance to the modern metropo-lis in the spirit of anti-modernism, there are also religious canticles or hymns about Christian faith, love and matrimony, friendship and humaneness, life and death. The hymns of Paula von Preradović thus fulfill a religious purpose, if religion in the etymological sense (religio) means entering into a relationship with God, the world, and man through a close reading over and over again. Based on the contemporary phenomenology of religion this article hypothesizes that the hymns of Paula von Preradović stand in the horizon of the holy.
