    An NHC‐catalyzed 3+2 annulations of β‐halocycloenals with isatins upon a dual‐activation mode was developed for the synthesis of tetracyclic 3‐spirooxindoles. DFT calculations were performed for the mechanism study of this transformation. Tetracyclic 3‐spirooxindoles consisted 3,4,5,6‐tetrahydro‐1H‐cyclopentacfuran‐1‐one moieties were synthesized by annulations of β‐halocycloenals with isatins under the catalysis of N‐heterocyclic carbene. DFT calculations were performed for the mechanism study of this reaction.
