Smith took a 12-0 record into the PIAA Championships where he beat 2006 silver medalist and previously unbeaten Eli Morres of Brookville in the semifinals. Smith, who also picked up his 100th career win, beat another unbeaten wrestler, Myles Caragein of Keystone Oaks, 3-1, for the title. "Even when he was on crutches, he was lifting upper body stuff and with his other leg," said Pen Argyl coach Scott Kupec, Smith's coach since junior high. "It was amazing to see."
