    The Slovenian system of dealing with young offenders has retained much of its welfarist stance even though the opposite is true for adult offenders. This is true in a setting, where juvenile ... delinquency has been dropping for the past decades for various types of crimes and where juvenile detention is extremely rare. However, concerns can be identified at two ends of the spectrum: on the one hand, even though a plethora of alternatives has been offered, not many of them are regularly used % something that can be judged positively or negatively; on the other hand, the most serious cases and offenders point at important weaknesses in the system in identifying and properly aiding young offenders, not neccessarily during their punishment, but mostly after that.
