  • Recycling of aluminium free-cutting alloys with lead = Recikliranje aluminijevih avtomatnih zlitin s svincem
    Smolej, Anton, 1941- ...
Aluminium free-catting alloys of AlCuMgPb (AA2030), AlCu5PbBi (AA2011) and AlMgSiPbBi (AA6012, AA6262) types contain lead and bismuth to improve their machinability. These alloys are used also in the ... car industry. In the recent time a tendency has appeared to replace lead with other elements because of its toxicity for human organisms and environmental reasons. Tin is the most frequently used as substituent. The standard alloys with lead represent large quantitets of secondary materials. These quantities could not be neglected after eventual ban of use of lead and its substitution with tin. There exists possibility to recycle leaded alloys with the progressive reduction of lead use at simultaneous of tin contents. Besed on investigations of tin influence upon the recycled free-cutting alloys, there were determined the relations between the contents of tin vs. lead + bismuth contents at which the alloys keep good machinability, suitable mechanical and other technological properties. The posibility of changing the alloys composition in regard to tin, lead and bismuth contents at constant and uniform properties, like contents of other alloying elements, mechanical properties, workability, and good machinability as essential property, was determined. The boundary composition of these new free-cutting alloys, manufactured by recycling standard alloys with lead and bismuth,is the following: 0,5 to 1,0 mass % Mn, 0,4 to 1,8 mass % Mg, 3,3 to 4,6 mass % Cu, 0,4 to 1,9 mass % Sn, up to 0,1 mass % Cr, 0,05 up to 0,4 mass % (Pb + Bi), up to 0,2 mass % Ti, up to 0,5 mass % Si, up to 0,7 mass % Fe, the rest to 100 mass % is aluminium.
