  • Acetabular development in patients treated with Salter's innominate osteotomy due to residual dysplasia in congenital dislocation of the hip
    Vengust, Rok, 1967- ...
Center edge (CE) angle measurements of 24 hips with residual acetabular dysplasia in congenital dislocation of the hip which underwent Salter's innominate osteotomy were reviewed. Patiens were ... divided into two groups according to the extent of femoral lateral coverage obtained by Salterćs osteotomy. The group of patients with immediate postoperative CE angle of morethan 25 degrees had significantly better femoral lateral coverage throughout the follow up compared with the group, with postoperative CE angle of less than 25 degrees. At the last follow up, there were 81.8% excellent or good radiologic results in the group with postoperative CE angle above 25 degrees compared with 61.5% excellent or good radiologic results in the group with postoperative CE angle below 25 degrees. The results of our study indicate that CE angle of more than 25 degrees should be obtained by Salter's osteotomy in order to achieve an optimal postoperative acetabular development.
